We are new customers. The claims department is the pits…asking for “more” paperwork/documents that they already have or don’t exist. Well visit claims are just as frustrating as a sick visit claims. Customer service people are very nice and try to fix the issues. So far I don’t recommend this company.

Hi Ginene, thanks for your time and feedback. We strive to deliver the best experience and apologize if any of your experiences with us have fallen short of that. Rest assured, we’re continually focused on enhancing efficiency and reducing the time it takes to process claims. Claims are processed in the order they’re received. Claims take an average of 15 days to be completed. However, more complex cases take up to 42 days currently. These time frames start from the time we receive a legible itemized invoice showing the date of service, your pet’s name, all the services done for your pet, along with proof of payment to your veterinarian for the full amount of the services on the invoice. When we receive an Accident and Illness claim, we may need to establish the pet’s medical history, so it is normal for us to request all the pet’s medical records and veterinarian exam notes from all treating veterinarians for at least 12 months prior to the policy start to present. Each pet’s medical history is unique, so sometimes we need to find out when the pet was obtained, and acquire the names of all treating veterinarians to determine if we have all the medical records that exist for the pet during the required time frame. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience. We hope you have a good day. – PF

Your reimbursement has not caught up with inflation. Premiums go up every year but coverage does not. Wellness visits have doubled in price but coverage has not. I paid 395 for shots and wellness with wellness insurance and only got 165 reimbursed with a $60+ premium. NOT ok

Hi Michelle, thanks for your time and feedback. Each of our wellness options are an add-on endorsement that Policyholders can choose to add to their Accident and Illness policy for an additional premium. Our Wellness Endorsements are a set schedule of benefits that are not subject to a deductible or co-pay. Each line item on the schedule is the maximum the policy would pay for that line item for your pet in a policy year. Unfortunately, your pet may use up the benefits quickly depending on what your veterinarian charges for their services. To keep the additional premium for the Wellness Endorsements reasonable for our Policyholders, they are not designed to fully cover all your wellness needs, but to assist you with the financial burden of your pet’s annual wellness care by providing some reimbursement of what you paid to your veterinarian for their services. You can find the Wellness Schedule under Documents and Forms in your account on our website. If you’d like, we’d be happy to go over your claims and coverage concerns with you. Impossible to work with. Takes forever to pay claims. My Vet filed my claims for me because Pet’s Best had me in tears. Their office was put on long holds & asked to refill five times. Needless to say they are recommending going with a company easier to deal with than Pet’s Best. I still haven’t received payment for those claims. Since it was over $10,000 I put on my credit card to pay I really need this claim paid.

While it's easy to submit claims and the coverage details and pricing are good, the wait time to get claims reviewed and processed is much too long. Previously I had my cats on Healthy Paws and while it was a bit more expensive per month, claims were processed really quickly.

Monthly fee for this insurance is too high and the coverage is not good. Most of the time, I don't get reimbursed for my out-of-pocket payments relating to the claims that I submit.

Hi Sandra, thanks for your time and feedback. When you receive an Accident and Illness claim Explanation of Benefits from us, if any of the processing went towards the co-pay or deductible, that means the claimed condition was coverable. If a claim was denied or ineligible for coverage the amount would be in the ineligible column, and the Explanation section would show why it was denied. Keep in mind all Accident and Illness policies have a Policyholder chosen per pet co-pay and deductible that must be met before reimbursing on eligible claims. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee specific claims outcomes, or the payment of a claim, until all information has been received and reviewed. Premium increases happen at your renewal or your anniversary date with us. That’s when we consider your pet to be a year older. The premium at renewal is not based on the claims you’ve submitted, but it is based on your pet’s age, breed, and the cost of veterinary care in your local zip code area. As pets age, their odds of needing medical care increase, as do the odds this care will be more expensive. Premium changes occur annually at renewal to balance these age-related health risks with rising medical care needs. Policyholders can review options to reduce their premium by logging into their account on our website at www.petsbest.com and going to the Benefits button under their pet’s name. If you’d like, we’d be happy to go over the options to reduce your premium with you. You can contact our Customer Care Team by calling (877) 738-7237. Claims are paid at a snails pace (1.5-2+ months has been my experience). The first claim pay out I never got my check, so I highly recommend setting up direct deposit. Don’t expect to be paid quickly.

Unfortunately it takes well over a month to be reimbursed. Sometimes even close to 2 months. It’s also not a great app to navigate through and not easy to use. I’m giving them 2 stars because most of the time they do reimburse and you’d on don’t have to try to fight them, but if it wasn’t for that I would give 0 stars based on how long it takes to process. When I first signed up they used to reimburse within days

My experience with Pets best has not been super good. I first got an email stating they were going to cover $350 of my $859.00 bill. Then I get an email saying that they needed more information and needed a copy of the invoice explaining all the charges. Then I get notification that they're going to pay $14. I don't know that I'm a good person to do a review right now.

I signed up about 3 months ago and just filed my first claim. I was quite dissatisfied with it taking over a month to be processed. I signed up for Pet’s Best because they tout that they pay claims quickly…not true. Mine was simple and straightforward too, I hate to think how long a complicated claim would take.

I was extremely disappointed with Pets Best Health Insurance. My cat is 15 and all of his claims except one was denied because of an "existing condition". He did not have the existing condition at the time his policy started. The one claim that was not denied was applied to the deductible. Claims took an extremely long time to be determined. The last one I filed said I'd have a response in 4-5 days. Well, it was actually about 30 days before it was approved. Every claim I submitted contained the doctor's evaluation, yet Pets Best had to go to the vet for more information. Convoluted process with no customer service attributes.

The Accident and Illness policy waiting periods are 3-days for Accidents, 14-days for Illnesses, and 6 months for Cruciate Ligament events.
