Processing time is slow. Premiums have doubled every year since starting this 3 years ago. The way the deductible and 80/20 is calculated is nothing like health insurance, so you're paying way more anyway. If I knew all of this 3 years ago, I would've went with a different company.

In researching claims, Pets Best folks look for ways around paying claims instead of working with the insured folks to pay claims. When reviewing claims the adjuster will see key words and associate them with past records and label them as preexisting conditions and deny the claim. Example, a new allergy treated with the same medication as prior preexisting condition, instead of performing a full review and investigation, the adjuster automatically deems this as preexisting and denies claim. This has occurred numerous times during my coverage period since 2022.

TERRIBLE reimbursement process. Took my 4 month old kitten in for wellness , her vaccinations etc. UPLOADED the itemized bill which was 258. Which says I paid with card etc. that wasn’t good enough I uploaded the sheet not properly. Then I upload a perfectly straight bill. Another week goes by. I finally got an alert on a Friday night like 9pm says I will be reimbursed 138. However an email came through right after pets best message saying my insurance does not cover these costs. I mean if that’s not the worst service I have ever seen. I do not know what is. Needless to say I will be switching. I pay more a month for this reason to get reimbursed. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!!!!!

Takes very long with claims, incorrectly diagnosed my kitten with a preexisting condition and wouldn’t reimburse a wellness appointment even though it was his first ever visit with the vet.

Why is the 09/20/25 claim not paid? The claims dated 10/01/25 and 10/02/25 are resolved. Customer service always says wait another 10 days. Your claims area also won't accept any calls. Why? I work for MGIC. Clients can contact the claims adjusters for clarification. Why isn't there a claim rebuttal option? MGIC offers the option when a claim is resolved. The 09/20/25 claim needs to be paid by 10/10/25.

Every aspect of Pets Best Insurance is a lesson in frustration and disappointment. Claims processing is advertised as 'quick,' yet every single claim I've submitted has taken well over a month to even get a response—let alone be processed. The website is archaic and loads at a pace rivaling dial-up, even on the fastest fiber connection available. Their iOS app somehow manages to mimic this glacial speed perfectly, making every interaction a chore. Despite what the coverage documents say, Pets Best has never officially covered a single one of my claims. Everything is met with legalese and stall tactics. When I've tried contacting customer service, agents were totally inept and incapable of answering basic questions. There's a total lack of understanding, responsiveness, or willingness to help—just endless runaround. This company feels slow, dated, and absolutely unresponsive in every way. I would never recommend them to anyone.

This company is an absolute embarrassment to the concept of customer service. Pets Best is, without question, the most useless, incompetent, and disgracefully run insurance company I have ever encountered in my entire life. Every single interaction I’ve had with them has been a soul-sucking waste of time. Their staff are astonishingly clueless, their systems barely function, and their entire operation runs like it’s being managed by a pack of goldfish with brain damage. For over two months, I have spent hours on the phone with their so-called “support” team, trying to access my own account, which remains completely locked because of their own broken IT system. Every call ends the same way: they apologize, open a ticket, and promise someone will follow up, and then absolutely nothing happens. I’ve lost count of how many times they’ve told me the issue is being “escalated,” which apparently means “thrown into a black hole and forgotten.” Their claims process is a complete joke. It moves at the speed of continental drift. They repeatedly request the same medical records you’ve already uploaded, as if they’re actively trying to waste as much of your time as possible. It’s either laziness or total stupidity, and I honestly can’t tell which would be worse. I have expensive claims sitting in limbo because this company is too incompetent to function. I cannot overstate how miserable, frustrating, and infuriating this entire experience has been. The level of disorganization is staggering, and it’s crystal clear they couldn’t care less about their customers. When these clowns finally, eventually, pay out my remaining claims, I will be canceling immediately. If there were a lower rating than one star, I would give it without hesitation. They have completely wasted my time, ignored my problems, and proven that they are utterly incapable of handling even the most basic tasks. If you’re even thinking about signing up for this garbage company, don’t. Run in the opposite direction. You’ll save yourself months of frustration, hours of phone calls, and a lifetime’s worth of regret. Pets Best is an unmitigated disaster run by people who shouldn’t be trusted to run a lemonade stand, let alone an insurance company.

This insurance started out great when I first purchased it 3years ago now suddenly my monthly payment has skyrocketed for $ 59.00 a month to $179.00 a month. That is insane so I’ll cancel soon. It also been taking them longer to reimburse the money on claims, but my reason for canceling is the rate and how much it went up. I do not recommend this company for your pet.

We have had an accident and illness policy for 2 years and 3 months and never had any claims for either of our Great Danes. I filed my first claim for nearly 3k. My dog was sick. We had a vet visit with an X-ray of her stomach, bloodwork and a shot for anti nausea. It was an emergency visit. Two days later we went back and she was hospitalized. There were 4 more X-rays looking for a blockage and monitoring if the contents move through the digestive track, one was a barium study. She had an IV with fluids and antibiotics. Out of nearly 3000 in bills, 576 was reimbursed. I understand the 500 deductible and 20% copay but that is so must less than expected. My monthly premium for just this one dog is $144/month. I do have another dog insured too but that is more. The policy says it covers emergency care, X-rays, injections, lab tests. I have the unlimited option. So I expected to pay 500 deductible and 20% of the rest after the deductible. That’s not what happened so now I am canceling both of my dogs insurance policies and I will find another provider. I do not recommend Pets Best.

It took several weeks between the time of my claim to claim results, and nearly a month later i still have no received payment.
