Sent in my receipts and anticipated it would be 30 days til I heard back. It was only about a week and 1-1/2 later. For that they get 5 stars. First Wellness check covered. Second one to cover Lyme vaccine was not. Hopefully the Lyme vaccine will prevent any debilitation from actually affecting my dog and causing more visits to the vet. Found it unusual that they didn’t cover it.

i just wish they would give me a email when they were getting ready to charge my card for a quarter. My dog passed away, and i paid for an extra quarter insurance because there's no warning. they don't even send a reciept, i also wish it was possible to submit a claim to both wellness, and illness in one claim, because they don't recognize one claim in the other category, and you wind up getting denied from both claims

Very disappointed in regards to the 90% payout and 10 % deductible. It seems I spent much more over the cost of a year in monthly insurance and receive much less in return.

Their pricing is wonderful and their plans cover a lot more than what I've seen with competitors. However, their turn around times for claims is pretty awful. If you submit a claim it can take over a month right now as of January 2021. If you have a huge vet bill you could be waiting a long, long time for that check.

Filing claims is extremely easy but lately I've been wondering if having this insurance is even worth it. I pay more every month than I ever get back. I might as well put that money away for when my dog has an emergency and I'll save more money than having this insurance.

The claims were processed in a timely manner. I didn’t like that while processing, the claim said waiting for vet info. This is misleading and will potentially negatively impacts the vet offices as it makes them look like they aren’t doing their job. I had to call twice to ensure that my vet had submitted information. Not a completely good experience.

Very long hold times to talk with rep. Resubmitted claim with more info and explanation, and it got tossed out stating “duplicate claim.” It’s very concerning that I took time and effort to attach extra records and write more info on resubmission. No one reviewed claim that until I spent 3 days calling in (each time 40+ min hold time and hung up) and on day 4, I had 40 min hold (had to hang up) and 2nd call was 1 hour 10min to speak to someone. I couldn’t get all my questions answered because I had other obligations by the time she picked up. Not too happy with the customer service.

Hi Julie, we understand your concern. We do have very long hold times at the moment. We insure over 300,000 pets and a lot of policy holders are home and calling every day for information on their claims, or their policy. We appreciate your patience during this difficult time in our world.

While I understand we are dealing with COVID, but the wait times are too long. Prices have gone up tremendously as well, so much so we are considering changing our policy. I've been with Pets Best for around 15 years and am disappointed that the pricing has almost tripled.

Hi, pricing is not based on the pandemic. Yes, prices will tend to go up as your pet ages. Much like in human health care, an older person is going to be more expensive to insure than a younger one. Similarly, a pet's chances of becoming ill will increase as they age. The insurance premiums are designed to reflect this increased risk of illness. Rates are based on pet's age, breed, and cost of veterinary care in your area. You'll be happy to know that prices do not go up because of your pet's personal claims filing activity. We notify you 40 days prior to renewal to let you know what to expect and renewal is 12 months from your enrollment date.

The customer service is an issue. Getting a hold of anyone on the phone is less than optimal. Hold times are more than an hour. It has been over 3 weeks and still have not connected with anyone. Live chat did not work for me.

I'm giving three stars because eventually, my claim was settled and paid. But it look a long time to get there. The biggest issue is how long the wait has been to speak to an agent on the phone. The live chat function doesn't work, and e-mail communication was poor. Every agent I spoke to - once I got though - was helpful and kind. But the wait was just too long.

Hi, on average it takes 15-30 days to process claims. Some may take longer if medical records are needed. You are welcome to submit all medical records and notes with your claim to make sure the processing time is shorter.

This insurance is good insurance if you don't have any claims before the adjustment period, otherwise nothing is going to be covered because it will be considered a pre existing condition.

The only thing I don't like is that the premium goes up as they age. I thought getting insurance when they were young would avoid premium increases. For that reason, I'll likely cancel once they are out of their puppy stage. I can barely afford it as it is.

You can never change your plan without sacrificing. If your pet has any kind of condition they consider prexisting they will no longer pay for it

Pretty easy to do the claims process but will probably cancel after seeing how the claims come back. I'm doubtful I'll get enough value for the expense.
