Worst pet insurance, they take too long on claims, they do not have good customer support it is hard to get ahold of anyone and then they are rude and curt in conversation and don’t know what customer service is about. Work in vet field and will NEVER recommend this company!

When you receive an Accident and Illness claim Explanation of Benefits from us, if any of the processing went towards the co-pay or deductible, that means the claimed condition was coverable. If a claim was denied or ineligible for coverage the amount would be in the ineligible column, and the Explanation section would show why it was denied. Keep in mind all Accident and Illness policies have a Policyholder chosen per pet co-pay and deductible that must be met before reimbursing on eligible claims. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee specific claims outcomes, or the payment of a claim, until all information has been received and reviewed. This insurance never covers the cost of the dog's trip to the vet. We will be changing insurance soon.

I have paid this insurance for more than 7 months, with a coverage of 70% and 100% in wellbeing. By making a claim of $184 for annual immunizations, the reimbursement is $40. It doesn't work for me.

I have 6 large dogs and have them all covered under PetsBest Insurance. For years I have had zero claims, but this year we had a stroke of bad luck and a few injuries/illnesses that needed Veterinary care. This company gladly takes our monthly premium, but when it came time to pay for the bills - they went out of their way to find anything they could use to deny my well documented and legitimate claims. For as much as I pay every single month, I expected a lot more and was highly disappointed and financially devastated by these Veterinary bills.

After working in the Veterinary industry for 18 years, I am very unhappy with PetsBest protocols, and kicking myself for moving a couple of our fur kids from Trupanion to PetsBest. They are lackadaisical at requesting medical records, so I do that myself to move things along. They do not let you know this, so be prepared to do the footwork yourself. The time it takes for a claim to be processed is ridiculous. The lack of ability to ever speak to a manager, as they are never available and will call back at their convenience is absurd. Anytime I call PetsBest, I feel like they just don't care. Their customer service is less than helpful and comes across as flippant. I have asked multiple times for their corporate phone number or email address and have been told I need to send they do not have that information, however they can give me an address to send correspondence. What kind of company doesn't have contact information for a client except via the mail. Lastly, I feel like you get what you pay for. Yes, Trupanion is more expensive, however, they pay their claims typically within 24-48 hours. When you are spending thousands of dollars out of pocket, only to be told it can take up to 45 days, you get a little mad.

They do not cover anything and it takes weeks to get any claim reviewed. The claims process constantly said that our vet was not providing documentation when in fact they had, and it felt like they were intentionally dragging their feet to get me to pay another month while things were under review. I spent a ton of money for no benefit. Total waste of money.

I have had multiple problems with Pets Best. For one of my dogs, they decided that a condition he had never had any signs of before his policy date - and in fact for almost a year afterward - was "pre-existing." I was able to appeal, but it took almost three months, and they kept requesting documentation that they already had and/or was irrelevant to the appeal. They also take their time processing claims. They say that they're processed in the order they're received, but that's clearly not true. I have two very simple claims that have been pending for three weeks while other claims submitted after that were processed almost immediately. I emailed about that and was told that some claims that need further research can take up to 42 days. There's no reason a very simple UTI claim should take that long, and they already have all of his medical records showing that one, he's never had a UTI before, and two, this was a simple UTI. I also have another pending claim for my other dog that's taking longer than other more recently submitted claims, and I submitted all of her medical records for the past year along with the invoice. There's no reason it should take so long to process. All of the necessary information was submitted along with the claim, and the claim is for treatment for a condition that Pets Best is well aware that she has, and that is definitely not pre-existing. It's a large claim, so I'm assuming that they're combing through the records trying to find some way that they can pretend that it's pre-existing and keep earning interest on my money for as long as possible. Every time I contact them they repeat the same lie, which you will see in their responses here, that claims are processed in the order they're received. It's not true. And if your claim is taking a long time to process, it's probably because they're looking for ways to get out of paying it. Update - It has now been four weeks since I submitted the UTI claim, and it still hasn't been processed. They tried to make it sound like there was a delay in getting medical records, but they didn't even request the records until it had been almost three weeks, and I had already uploaded them myself. They caused the delay themselves, not to mention, they've had the records for a week and a half and still haven't processed the claim.

Not a very good experience for what I pay for my pet insurance. The claims are less than 20% refund after you pay a lot of wellness annual checkups.

I am not happy with this insurance company. I previously had Trupanion and never had a problem with my claims in 12 years. I didn't go back to them because the cost had become unaffordable for me with my new dog (doubled). This company has been nothing but trouble. The latest is I (stupidly) just realized they haven't been paying most of my claims because they have attached the wrong invoices to the claim. I went round and round and round with them over my new dog's intitial treatment that they just never paid on. I wish I could go back and pay the expensive Trupanion rate. the weird thing is that they're both underwritten by the same company so I figured the service would be comparable. NOPE!

Very dissapointed with them. When I purchased the best policy I could get they never told me about how dental cleaning really works. There are some hidden items. Just not good.

Under the Accident and Illness policy, the Dental Coverage Section advises of the requirements that must be met for your pet to be eligible for Periodontal Disease coverage. There, it advises that for your pet to be eligible for Periodontal Disease coverage, your pet must be free of any signs of Periodontal Disease prior to the Policy Effective Date or during any Waiting Period, and beginning at three years of age, your pet’s teeth must have been cleaned and examined under general anesthesia by a Veterinarian in the thirteen months before the date of service for the Periodontal Disease claim. Any Periodontal Disease found during the prior teeth cleaning mentioned above must have been treated before Periodontal Disease coverage becomes available for your pet. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee specific claims outcomes, or the payment of a claim, until all information has been received and reviewed. Our BestWellness endorsement is the only endorsement where we offer benefit for a pet’s Teeth Cleaning. If a Policyholder subscribes to EssentialWellness or doesn’t subscribe to a wellness endorsement at all, there would be no coverage for Teeth Cleaning on their policy, as preventative care is a direct exclusion of our Accident and Illness policy. Our Wellness Endorsements are a set schedule of benefits that are not subject to a deductible or co-pay. Very disappointed. My claim took a long time to process, and then most of it was denied, leaving me with a very large bill. They claimed it was a pre-existing condition. The truth is the new condition caused the condition that she had previously. I am extremely upset and left with a very large bill that I cannot afford.

Unfortunately, any condition that shows signs or symptoms prior to the policy start date or during the policy waiting periods, is not covered by the policy. The Accident and Illness policy waiting periods are 3-days for Accidents, 14-days for Illnesses, and 6 months for Cruciate Ligament events. These waiting periods start from the effective date of the policy. If the condition is not coverable, then the diagnostics and treatments are not covered for that condition. You can find your Policy Information under Documents and Forms in your account on our website. Anytime a Policyholder is in dispute of a claim that has been denied as a pre-existing condition and wants us to review their claim further, the Policyholder can submit an Appeal Form with supporting documentation to us. Worst experience. Only interested in collecting and jacking up the premiums. Very slow processing claims and finds every reason to deny the claim. They don’t trust their customers and even questions the vets diagnoses. Will not recommend this to anyone. Pet owners will be well off without insurance rather than having pets best.

Claims take an average of up to 15 days to be completed. However, more complex cases, depending on if additional information is needed, take up to 42 days currently.
