I have been a Reverb member for more than a decade. Being a Chicago native, I frequently shopped at Chicago Music Exchange, the creators of Reverb.com. My experience with the staff has always been positive. I felt that they were fair and honest, which is a rarity nowadays. Well, now that another entity has acquired Reverb.com, I have seen dramatic increases in their fees and an unfair bias toward buyers when disputes arise. As a seller of high-end gear, I no longer feel safe or protected if a buyer makes bogus claims about items received. Reverb.com ALWAYS sides with the buyer, even if the buyers' claims are unsubstantiated. For this reason, I will only use Reverb.com for inexpensive (

Reverb, has become a crooked money grabbing site these days. Example… bumping on your item is automatically applied earning Reverb 160€ on my guitar sale, I never knowingly opted to select bumping of the sale. This is a huge deception by Reverb. Secondly they insist in paying me in Euros despite the fact that all my bank transactions are in £, and based in a UK bank. They pay me innEuros based on the fact that I live in Spain due to health reasons. But Inam UK citizen and operate UK £ bank account. Thirdly they apply Spanish VAT to all fees, but I am in Canary Islands location, which is outside of Spain and UE, and has it’s own autonomous Tax an IGIC system in place of EU VAT. I have written complaint on many occasions with no refunds given back. Caviat Emptor regards to Reverb, shoddy, dodgy bunch of crooks. Ensure you un bump all item you list and foil this scam they hide from sellers.

Purchased a guitar described as 'excellent condition' but when it arrived neck cracked, no electrics, paintwork a total mess. The photos used in the advert were of a different guitar. Reverb not interested. Out of pocket, reverb is a scam, avoid.

Let's say I NEVER leave bad reviews for companies I like but this will be my first exception. I write this on September 6. On September 4th I added tracking information for an item I sold. In the website there's a disclaimer saying that it takes "Up to 2 business days" to get paid for a sold item on Reverb.com after submitting tracking information, when really after spending an entire morning/afternoon trying to get help from customer support you learn that it is not really 2 days but give or take almost 5 BANK BUSINESS days... and the payment hasn't been released to the bank... Today it is Friday and of course I will have to wait until monday for the payment.... even though the item has already been delivered and it is within the supposed window to have the payment release to my bank. When I tried to contact support to see if they could process my payment or find some type solution, I basically had 2 agents end the chat before they decided to consult with their accounting department or do something about it, basically leaving me in the dark. I am leaving this review in case you're trying to do serious business and believe in the timelines that they provide without having to read a separate legal dislaimer. Found in some dense support forum no one will read except when you run into trouble. I will try to contact support upper management at Reverb to have them amend that disclaimer or add additional information for us users who are calculating timelines. When you have a transaction that's thousands of dollars deep held hostage, it is not a nice experience for any customer.

In addition to the regular seller's fee, Reverb charges a "payment processing" fee. If you are the seller, and receiving money for the sale, you would assume this 3.19% fee applies to the payment you are going to receive. Nope, not at all. It applied to the buyers total fee, including the item they purchased from you, the state taxes on it and shipping fees they pay. YES. I know, its hard to believe, isn't it? So why am I paying a fee for the buyers taxes and shipping again?? Rip off.

This is the third time I have had to contact them to attempt to get paid for an item I have sold. I have not been paid for an item the buyer received 6 days ago, nor have I received a payment processing notification. Reverb does not always pay, and I think this is dishonest and should be looked into. This company needs to reboot or go away.

No customer support. I've been a member for 10 years and it gets worse daily. Used to be a great platform for musicians. Then it was purchased by Etsy and all support went out the window. You talk to bots who then source you out to overseas call centers. If you’re lucky, they will refer you back to the United States when they can’t help you via email. I am currently 30 emails in over a month Now. With no resolve to my problem with not being able to login and out of my account. It’s not a password issue. It’s a glitch in their program. They do not reply or help. Still waiting. When and if they resolve the problem, I may consider upping my review, but in the meantime, I’m still locked out.

I had 312 5 star reviews and scammer stole multiple listings and posted them on other sites. Reverb the suspended my listing, and another listing I told them the buyer was a scammer. And man I was right again. They then suspended my account. I'm contemplating a lawsuit

This site is run by 95% scammers and maybe 2% of people actually looking to buy. If you get caught up in a scam ,EVEN IF YOU TELL THEM ? they always tell you to ship. Then you get screwed. The site sucks with no real experts. Stay far away

purchased a mixer board from a seller on Reverb.com. It arrived on June 4 2024 and it arrived with the effects overload light continually lit. I sent messages and pictures to the seller asking to return it for a full refund. They did not respond. I sent the same messages and pictures to Reverb.com all within their 7 day buyer protection policy. Reverb has done nothing but stall. Their employee actually wanted me to take a video of the board showing the lights lit without a power supply connected to it. This is the kind of people that work there. I have not been refunded or offered a return label......nothing but a run around. Stay away from reverb.com. They will not honor their buyer protection policy!!!

I had an account with all 5 star reviews that is now gone because someone hacked my account and was trying to fraudulently use my card to buy 1000’s of dollars worth of guitars. I immediately reported the fraudulent activity and changed my password. Reverb’s solution to this was to permanently suspend my account due to “placing orders or making offers without an intent to buy”. Trying to contact customer service is an absolute joke.

Reverb has definitely changed over the years! Their “Customer Service” is a “talk-to-the-hand” joke! They want nothing to do with their buyers/sellers if they have an issue. They want everything automated and just want to sit back and collect the cash! In fact, they attempt to “protect” both buyer and seller in the event of a clearly one-sided issue. Example, I purchased two guitars from a “shifty” seller, “Jason’s Gear Jungle”, and for three+ days had zero contact from this seller. Contacted Reverb and was instantly refunded my money. Why? Their answer was, “buyer sold locally and was out of stock” Yeah right! The buyer imho didn’t monitor their listings and when the price dropped (15-20%), I bought two new guitars from them. I say this because a few days later, I checked and it was relisted and was “predicted to sell soon!” What a joke! I also mention this because “JASON’S GEAR JUNGLE” has 1600+ transactions with stellar feedback! Reverb has totally prevented me from leaving any type of feedback on this experience and I thought it was important for other buyer’s to be aware. As for Reverb itself? What a shame! I meet the two guys that started Reverb many years back at a Winter NAMM Show and they were really cool and genuinely wanted to make a great musicians selling and buying community, which they did for many years. That’s sadly all gone now imho, since they sold the company. So carpe Diem: “JASON’S GEAR JUNGLE” in Riverside, CA!!!

I sold a MIDI interface that was working perfectly and the buyer ( apparently an incompetent moron) returned it as "broken, not working, doesn't power up". I tested it right away and was working as it should. I asked Reverb to step in and I gave them two videos proving that the unit was working, and they stop answering my request to updates about my case. They cut me off the chat and every time I ask a question the chat ends abruptly. Worst customer service ever, they care only for the money they make, nothing else. Good luck to them: I blocked the credit card related to my account.

Worst company I have ever dealt with I bought a guitar amp from a Dutch seller and he went forward with a scam which is made easy by their weak buyer protection policies. At the time of purchase buyer protection was virtually non existent but the seller said he couldn't ship because of the Ukraine conflict. He then tried to get me to pay him 400$ more off of the app on top of the 900$ and 300$ shipping he already received after I told him no I tried to file a claim but there was no avenue for me to pursue that. I had given up but I saw recently that there was now a way for me to file a claim so I did and I was met by their racist European support claim worker Eric A and he said that too much time had passed and shipping carriers don’t keep records after 6 months which was a straight up lie and obviously false statement. I know this because I called the carrier and found the item had been returned to sender. Reverb closed my claim request after that I wouldn't buy or sell on this website ever again. Sweetwater is worth the extra $ because you know they have your back I feel no fear when I order from sweetwater but with reverb I have never received an item I have purchased and I have zero faith in their customer service and I actually think they have a vested interest in defrauding their customers. That is the only thing that could explain the disrespect I received from the claims department both verbally hostile and hostile in their sneaky ways of defrauding their customers but the music industry as a whole is toast nobody really should be treating it as anything more than a hobby at this point.
