“A little expensive I think as they sound that they are their to help ..in advertising etc
I'm 68 I think I could of done better price wise.
But saga seem to be sound.”
“This happened in 2006/7. First time I have come across this review site so things may be different now. Had a burst pipe in kitchen that went unnoticed for several months as it was under kitchen units and vinolay. Base of very expensive hand made units were all damaged beyond repair. The assessor claimed the doors could be rehung on off the shelf carcasses in spite of four independent quality kitchen fitters and makers saying the doors were not a standard size and would overhang at the base. It took twelve months to finally resolve the situation after threating to go the ombudsman, and all this time we had trench across the kitchen floor where we had to dig it up to find the leak.”
“Saga Home Insurance trade under the reputation of Saga, that trusted brand name for the greying over 50s generation ... that's me nowadays!
We're mature and smarter, we're savvy shoppers, we believe in value for money.
Ha, and don't they just know it.
So the brochures look great, the bullet pointed benefits seemingly have most things covered, the website's slick ... all designed to get your valuable grey pound. But hey? What's this? Has anybody ever heard of the insurance companies they are actually just fronting up? I certainly hadn't when it came to make a claim. The first mention of the Insurance company came when their Loss Adjuster sent a 'rejection of claim' letter to me!
Ah well, I'm a mature guy as Saga quite obviously know, I can take a 'knock on the chin' better than most, got enough grey pounds now to keep myself fed and watered.
Thank heavens I've learned my lesson before any real life threatening calamity befell my family and I.
Don't be fooled you good folk out there ... Saga are a mean-hearted business, just trying to make easy profits out of their brand strength from the Buildings insurance business .. AVOID”
“Having had my premium from my previous insurer increased by 40% at renewal time - no claims & no change of circumstances - started shopping around. Saga far & away the best cover for the price + “green card” insurance for motoring in Europe is included in the price. Difficult to beat.”
“Mid Term increase in policy due to change of address just a few weeks before renewal, SAGA adamant that administration few as still due even though I indicated I may move the policy, advisor whilst not rude was very short! therefore i am looking to now move my policy. I have insured vehicles now for almost 40 years and never had a claim, I ask myself do I benefit from my clean claims history? I fear not why should I be lumped in with all the others and averaged out to an insurance premium of £x when my claims history should be looked at providing an insurance premium of £Y.”
“Car insurance quote was very competitive. The service was as good or better than other insurance providers. I would definitely approach Saga in the future.”
“I have had a number of insurance policies with direct line for the last ten years or so and never really had a problem with them. On the particular vehicle I changed to a Saga policy covered my main car and was the third reincarnation of exactly the same specification of vehicle. I have never had an insurance claim against any of my policies and it was only upon trying to renew my insurance this year that I was advised that my policy would significantly increase. whilst it appears that Direct Line always try and up a renewing policy I had usually been able to ring up and query the increase which had previously been dropped back down to something near the previous policy cost, not this time!
I was forced to search out a new insurer which I did extremely easily and decided to use what I perceive as a reputable company, i.e.. Saga. Although they were not the cheapest they were competitive, covered everything that I had previously been covered for and were less than what I had paid previously and significantly below what Direct Line were trying to charge me for a renewal policy, no brainer!
Apart from being 1 year older( late 50's) and intending to drive less annual mileage nothing else had changed, I queried why Direct Line were acting in this way but was met with total disregard, I took the view that if they didn't want my custom I would find a company that did!”
“Only used them to Insure my car - done on phone and online : Simple, straightforward and fast. Only issue for me was that I am a long standing of the IAM, the 99% main driver but they gave no credence to that financially”
“THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS TROUBLE FREE AND THE QUOTE WAS VERY GOOD FOR THE EXTRAS THAT WERE INCLUDED.
I HAVE INSURED TWO CARS WITH THEM.YOU CAN VIEW YOUR ACCOUNT ONLINE AT ANY TIME.”
“Saga use AXA as claims underwriters. The service I have received from them is very poor. My claim for a vandalised door mirror is still unresolved after more than two months. If you do not agree to using one of their ‘approved’ repairers they are not interested in reimbursement. In my case I needed the mirror to be replaced as soon as possible and my local main dealership were excellent in replacing the mirror within days. I will try to avoid any company who use AXA in future. Another reviewer wrote that Saga are not the lowest cost but quality does not come cheap. I would say in this case poor quality does not come cheap.”
