Was certainly cheaper than previous providers. Thinking maybe it's because I'm in the over 50's club

Expensive and VERY slow to pay out. They deliberately delay things and are deliberately evasive. The staff don't give a damn. They make it impossible to escalate. Once, I was on hold for a few minutes and then they just kicked the call back to the telephone answering service. Really, REALLY, avoid if you can. My wife has had a good experience with Aviva and that's who I'm using next.

I have been a loyal and TROUBLE FREE customer of Saga for many years, car and house insurance.I must have had the mistaken impression that Saga was supposed to be a friend to the elderly but I am sorry to say how disappointed, appalled and disgusted Iam when I received my renewal notice for my car insurance. My current year cost £290,the renewal figure is £390,an increase of £107 (there has been no claims incidently),totally unacceptable. If they had said that they weren’t insuring people of my age (83) I would have thought no more about it but this increase is definitely out of order.I did complain on the phone, they reduced the quotation by a derisory amount,I am waiting shortly for my house insurance renewal,no doubt it will be the same.As I said previously that I thought that Saga was a friend to the elderly, thus the old cliche “Who needs enemies when you have friends like these? I have never in my life put pen to paper to complain like this but I feel so strongly about matter that I felt that I must let any future costomers to be careful.

Had a water escape from a toilet at 0600 am, as we had Home Emergency Cover I called them for assistance. I was told, we don't have your policy number on file. I explained I had the certificate in front of me and it was still valid. The man o the phone said we are AXA and Saga have not given us your details so you will have to call them later. All this time I had a water escape which I couldn't stop. We called back at 0800 to be told Saga dont start until 0830. My wife stayed off work and called back at 0830 to be told Dynorod would call you within 2 hours. 7 hours later , yes 7 hours, Dynorod called to say they would be with us between 1200-1700, the next day! I quote from the policy booklet 'What is a home emergency? Put simply, for the purpose of the policy a home emergency is an event that happens suddenly and unexpectedly and needs IMMEDIATE action to a, prevent damage or further damage to your home or b make your home safe secure and inhabitable.' By 1630 today, we had heard nothing from AXA, Saga or Dynorod. I must say that at 6pm last night I called an emergency plumber at my own expense who attended within 30 minutes and had the job done an hour later. Just called Saga, who told me it was nothing to do with them, even though they sold me the Saga Home Emergency policy, and was AXAs problem. Apparently, Dynorod cancelled the job (nice of them). Would not now buy anything off Saga, they are a disgrace.

Immediate payment was made to the company regarding a travel insurance policy. No record of policy sent to email or listed on Saga account. Have since returned home to discover they are trying to demand payment for the policy again as an overpayment, chasing up through email and physical post. Not impressed with the lack of organisation and administration the company has and would am seriously discouraged from using them in future.

My mother who is 83 has had buildings and contents insurance with Saga for many years. I deal with her affairs by PoA. Yet again Saga have massively increased the premium this time by over 51% (from £257pa - £388.71 pa). On querying this with them they reduced the premium to £300 (no reason given - still an increment of 16.7%). This property is not in a high risk area for theft. flooding etc. I have been able to find alternative (similar cover) ranging from £121 - £198. These people are "ripping off" older generation and should be ashamed

been with saga several years and carried on paying annual fee presuming i was being looked after and being loyal asked for a quote on a second car 'the total for both was unbelievable over 700 pounds .got very similar deal for 299 pounds, and my wife and i are both shareholders . not much loyalty from them then, no wonder their share price is rock bottom ;would cash them in now but would lose even more money.

This happened in 2006/7. First time I have come across this review site so things may be different now. Had a burst pipe in kitchen that went unnoticed for several months as it was under kitchen units and vinolay. Base of very expensive hand made units were all damaged beyond repair. The assessor claimed the doors could be rehung on off the shelf carcasses in spite of four independent quality kitchen fitters and makers saying the doors were not a standard size and would overhang at the base. It took twelve months to finally resolve the situation after threating to go the ombudsman, and all this time we had trench across the kitchen floor where we had to dig it up to find the leak.

Saga Home Insurance trade under the reputation of Saga, that trusted brand name for the greying over 50s generation ... that's me nowadays! We're mature and smarter, we're savvy shoppers, we believe in value for money. Ha, and don't they just know it. So the brochures look great, the bullet pointed benefits seemingly have most things covered, the website's slick ... all designed to get your valuable grey pound. But hey? What's this? Has anybody ever heard of the insurance companies they are actually just fronting up? I certainly hadn't when it came to make a claim. The first mention of the Insurance company came when their Loss Adjuster sent a 'rejection of claim' letter to me! Ah well, I'm a mature guy as Saga quite obviously know, I can take a 'knock on the chin' better than most, got enough grey pounds now to keep myself fed and watered. Thank heavens I've learned my lesson before any real life threatening calamity befell my family and I. Don't be fooled you good folk out there ... Saga are a mean-hearted business, just trying to make easy profits out of their brand strength from the Buildings insurance business .. AVOID

Having had my premium from my previous insurer increased by 40% at renewal time - no claims & no change of circumstances - started shopping around. Saga far & away the best cover for the price + “green card” insurance for motoring in Europe is included in the price. Difficult to beat.

Mid Term increase in policy due to change of address just a few weeks before renewal, SAGA adamant that administration few as still due even though I indicated I may move the policy, advisor whilst not rude was very short! therefore i am looking to now move my policy. I have insured vehicles now for almost 40 years and never had a claim, I ask myself do I benefit from my clean claims history? I fear not why should I be lumped in with all the others and averaged out to an insurance premium of £x when my claims history should be looked at providing an insurance premium of £Y.
