“I waited with anticipation for my new toxins free colour. Once I received it I couldn’t wait to try it out and the results are amazing! My hair is shiny, the colour is perfect and vibrant, just as I wanted it to be! “Not suitable for allergy sufferers contains PTD which has a high allergy risk, I purchased this not realising it contained PTD and it was advertised as being a low allergy risk, I did a skin test and had a reaction within 1hour a week later I still have a sever rash and skin swelling where I tested this product.”

Hi Ashleigh, I'm sorry you had an allergic reaction, and I'm pleased you performed an allergy alert test. Our colour uses PTD—Toluene 2,5-Diamine Sulfate (TDS), an ingredient that effectively replaces PPD in permanent hair color while offering a lower incidence of skin sensitivities. Studies show that more than half of users who are allergic to PPD did not experience any adverse effects to products using a PTD substitute. However, as the ingredients are chemically similar, it is possible for users who are allergic to PPD to experience some irritation when using a color with PTD. Wishing you all the best! “the kits are pretty good and minimal packaging but I find the product still gives me a rash when I use double developer as suggested on resistant greys, and even after doing so, greys are only slightly tinted.”

Hi Kylie, We don't use Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) in our products. We use Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate in our shampoo. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate both have the same initials, but that's where the similarities end. Our shampoo is SLS-free. I hope this helps!

“I'm genuinely surprised at how well this worked. I had been hearing adds for similar products, so I decided to give it a try. I read other reviews and got a colour lighter than was recommended. The little pack and colouring process was a lot more luxurious feeling than other box colour. The process was painless and easy. I was quite impressed with the colour. It matched my own hair perfectly, and hasn't transferred onto anything. I also noticed it didn't patch on my scalp or look blocky and monotonal like what I had previously used. I think my only drawback was that my ends did feel a bit dry, but I have very long hair and use specific products to treat it, so the provided shampoo and conditioner may not have been up to the task. I also wish the sample pictures of the colours weren't the same woman with the colour photoshopped onto her. Overall, I am very happy with the colour and will purchase again :)”

“Love the hair dye range from The Shade. This is the first time I haven’t had an allergic reaction to the chemicals - my scalp was very happy! I was able to get advice from a colour consultant and ordering online was so easy. I was very pleasantly surprised with all of the inclusions that came with hair dye - a mixing bowl and brush, large hair clips, a cape, gloves, shampoo and conditioner.”

“Great Product! It was great to receive the perfect little box in the mail with everything I needed ,i especially loved the addition of the oil and colour dye wipe to protect my skin from any dye that could stain, also the shampoo, its so good to have a home dye kit that includes everything you need. The colour was perfect, I have been searching for the right colour for a long time and i am so glad i found it ! i am going to continue ordering this product !”
