“Amazing company, when I had a glitch and accidentally ordered the tsubaki oil the support team refunded me straight away. After the company accidentally sent it to me I offered to send it back but they told me to keep it because it was there mistake. Such rare fantastic customer service! Hi Elena, Sorry you didn't get the grey coverage you were after. Some greys can be quite colour resistant, as along with pigment changes, the texture of the hair changes and the outer layer becomes more tightly packed and layered which can make it difficult for the colour to absorb and to deposit permanent colour within the hair. I would encourage you to try again and next time to add some heat to your roots during the pre-softening for a minute or two with your hairdryer, which will help soften and lift the cuticle on your greys, which also helps the colour enter and be deposited within the hair. Pop a shower cap on your head during the pre-softening process too, as this will help retain heat and soften and lift the cuticles of the hair which will then allow the colour pigments to enter to be permanently deposited within the hair. The above approach has been effective on even the most stubborn greys, and I am confident that it will work for you as well. I hope this helps! The Shade team

“I have been using THE SHADE for about 2 years now and I LOVE it. Occasionally if I am travelling and I have forgotten my little square box, I will buy a kit from the chemist... and I always regret it. Even the other Italian "organic" brand makes my scalp HURT. THE SHADE NEVER hurts and the colours are lovely. I do change it up now and again and the colourist checklist and support are always great. I love how simple and effective the subscription is, just set and forget... it arrives and I dye my hair again. Before THE SHADE I was going *weeks* between dyes because I would not get to the shop or forget until late that night... now I can always have nice hair colour... and if I need more, I just order another one in between my regular delivery. If you are thinking about it, just give it a go... you won't regret it. BY FAR the best at-home hair dye I have ever used. It is also better for my scalp than the in salon ones.”

“Love the concept of buying online, thought the colour selection process was great, packaging and time to receive via post also great. Got my husband to help applying product and we followed instructions with no concerns. The colour I selected was 'Roma' and of the understanding this would achieve a golden brown colour. The outcome was alot darker and more red in colour, disappointing as wanted to stay close my nature colour. Not sure how I feel about the overall experience. I would definitely talk about it with friends (have to because of the big difference in colour of my hair) but would say be weary of colour selection outcomes.”

All warm colours do include red tones in the base of the secondary tone, which is why our colourists ask not only what tones do you want to see in your hair, but also what tones you don't want to see in your hair. Also, warm tones absorb light and they do look darker than their technical colour level (cool tones reflect light and look lighter than their technical colour level). So a colour level which is the same as your natural colour, but which has warm tones, will look darker. “After years of using awful packet hair color and my hair feeling like straw for days after The Shade is honestly a God send! Not only convenient that it ships on a regular basis to my door, the smell doesn't give you a headache and hardly stains the hairline.
