“Really great colour guidance, loved the quick and easy ordering and delivery as well as the very clearly set. Out instructions and labeled packs in the box. Think it's fantastic that you include the shampoo and conditioner for the first wash and the barrier oil and hair removal wipes were very helpful! Would give a 5 but for the not so great set of plastic gloves that come in the pack, would have preferred a set of black latex to give me better control over the brush etc and the cape being plastic was not very breathable making my shoulders and back quite hot while trying to do my hair in the bathroom on a hot day! Little things I know but details I remember. Overall really impressed!”

“A great idea in theory but perhaps not the best option for everyone. I have a long pixie cut and there was just enough dye for full coverage so if u have longer or thicker hair, get extra dye. The application was easy. The included brush was great with strong bristles and the right size to color. Love the barrier oil. Would make cleanup a breeze for darker colors. Smell was pleasant and not over powering. I also have a sensitive scalp and the dye didn't burn or make my head itch like store brands. I started with a darker brown color on my hair with mousy blonde roots. I ordered the lightest ash blond but unfortunately the colour was not the desired result. My roots took the color well but after 50 minutes (10minutes more than the recommended time for stubborn greys) the best it got was a coopery/strawberry blond. It's not hideous but it's not great either. The ends which had a brown colour already didn't change at all. The shampoo and conditioner smelled amazing and my hair is very soft and shiny. Shame the color wasn't the expected result because otherwise it's a great idea and I would have happily had a subscription.”

“This product is INCREDIBLE. I am in love with the quality of not only the dye itself but also the brush, cape and no spill mat! I definitely recommend THE SHADE to anyone. “I am very impressed by the overall product and packaging. Having used the colour today, I cannot vouch for how long it might last but I was happy with the result achievwd today. Also, there is plenty of product for those with long hair. The real bonus for me was the fact that there was no nasty chemical smell or burn on my scalp when I applied and let the product develop on my hair. For that alone, I would recommend this colour kit to anyone who colours at home either regularly or occasionally.”

“The positives: the conditioner is amazing and soo soft, no smell once the dye is washed out, the colour is rich and natural, the accessories make cleaning up easy, grey coverage is good. The negatives: the colour was darker than intended, it stained my skin more than normal home dyes despite the oil barrier, it smelt pretty bad while it was on, despite having an undercut and mid-length hair I felt like I was running light on product.”

“The packages are gorgeous. The only thing that I felt could be better with the packaging was the horrible gloves included. I think black gloves latex or recycled plastic would be so much better. The product was beautiful to use, I ordered a dark ash brown which it suggested would balance the red tones in my hair. It didn’t reduce the red tones however it is still a lovely deep colour. I was very pleasantly surprised by the transaction, but do not colour my hair regularly enough to continue with the established membership periods. It would be excellent if we could set our own distribution times, I would then be happy to continue a membership. Beautiful product, highly recommended.”

“This product has my hair colour the most even it has been in years of doing my own hair at home using many different products! There are many pro's to this product including: - Smells GREAT (not like stinky peroxide) - Colours evenly and really well - Easy to use and easy to follow instructions - Doesn't burn (like some others) - Is effective and efficient However, a couple of cons; - It's a little messy in application from a bowl rather than a tube - Personally, I have 2 tone hair (I only dye 3/4 of the top) so it was more difficult to ensure the colour wasn't going into my darker underneath as I was using a bowl and brush to apply - If you have alot of fine hair (or thick hair) you will need two packages as there is limited product. All in all, I'm exceptionally impressed by this product and will be back as a customer to get some more just before my birthday party (when my hair will be next due for a colour)”

“I colour my hair on a regular basis and found The Shade hair dye so easy to use. It doesn't have any horrible smell, comes with towel to wipe away any dye residue on my skin so it doesn't stain and most importantly looks so natural again. Love this product and would highly recommend to every. I know I will be using this from now on to keep me looking fresh. Thank you :)”

“I love it! Very easy to apply, the shampoo was rich and the conditioner relaxed my hair almost immediately! The colour was just about the same colour as I had in my younger days( maybe a touch brighter than I have been having it) but who cares? I feel young and very glamorous! “I have a slightly complicated hair situation - it's naturally dark brown (and long), then had a lot of foils, then I used henna + indigo for a year and also I've got quite a few greys! It was getting way too dark with the repeated henna + indigo-ing so I spent ages trying to find an option to colour over it. There were plenty of horror stories to read on the internet, and hairdressers were also reluctant to provide much advice other than to avoid the grocery store box dyes because apparently you can get some bizarre results. I found The Shade during my internet searches, and was initially worried about whether the henna/indigo would react with the hydrogen peroxide but in the end gave it a go because it was ammonia free and sounded like higher quality dye than the supermarket dyes. I went for the golden brown - I probably left it on too long at the hairline roots so it intially came out a bit more red than expected (though this has faded nicely with a couple of washes) and in the areas where the colour was on for less time it looked really nice. It's covered the greys well and hasn't done anything weird with the henna-treated midlengths. I think I still have a way to go as now my roots are lighter, the mid lengths have remained very dark (I don't think there's much I can do about that other than grow it out) and the ends are lighter again from the old foils, but I think given my hair circumstances it's the best it could have turned out! And I'll definitely be continuing to use until I finally grow out that dastardly henna & indigo :-) Thanks The Shade!”

“It was very easy process and my hair came out so soft it felt like I had been to the hairdresser. The colour is lovely too. The only downside is that it barely covered my gray and white hairs, and when I washed my hair for the first time since colouring it all of the colour on them washed away. It was disappointing seeing as I followed the instructions about gray hair to the absolute letter. I guess my greys are more stubborn than most.”

“I love the smell and colour however after 2 weeks I find that the colour has more or less faded after a few washs and I don't even wash my hair everyday so in this regard it is disappointing. Comparing this to other brands, I'm afraid I won't be re-purchasing it. Also, I don't why but my hair became rather dry and frizzy after each wash which requires a signifcant amount of argan oil so sadly I won't be re-purchasing it. Thank you for the kit - that piece was a great idea and I like it a lot!”
