“This is a great product. Not only is it super easy to mix up and apply it seems to be no drip. The barrier oil means NO colour on my skin. Even my hairdresser doesn’t manage that. And my hair feels and looks so healthy soft and shiny. So many compliments. And all without the need for an appointment. I’m a convert. And so are the friends I’ve recommended it to.”

“Terrible. Colour darker than shown on web site. Awful smell. My hair turned out almost black when the shade was right brown. Uninterested "customer support". My question about colour being dark was removed from Facebook. Nearly two weeks later and my hair looks disgusting. Dry and fake and black has now faded to dark orange and fark brown. I have never been so disappointed and upset with my hair in my life. I advise anyone reading, please don't consider trying this.”

Dear Melinda, The following is the email our colourist sent you: Hi Melinda, Thanks for following up. Colour cannot lighten colour, so it can not lighten pre-existing darker colour pigments in your hair. The options are to try the method I mentioned to lift out some of the colour pigments, or to lighten your base colour by doing a bleach wash at home. This is quite quick, easy and very effective, but bear in mind that you can’t recolour for 2 days and your hair will probably be a bit brassy (lightening does that) during that time. The upside is that when you recolour you will have a lighter base level and you can then comfortably achieve a lighter colour level and the bleach washing process will lift out all the darker pigments which are currently in your hair. We offer Bleach Wash Kits which include everything you need to bleach wash your hair, which will effectively and quickly lighten your base colour. They are $17.95 and include bleach powder, developer, Colour Protection Shampoo and Conditioner and gloves as well as detailed instructions. To add Bleach Wash to your order, go to the Shop page, scroll down until you find the Bleach Wash Kit, and you can then add that to your order. A bleach wash is gentler than a standard lightening process, but it will dry your hair and we recommend that you do some leave-in conditioner or oil treatments before and after bleach washing to restore moisture and condition to your hair. Our colour numbering system is the ICC system, which is the same one used by L'OReal and other major brands, so those levels match *eg. a level 3 by L'OReal is the same as our level 3, etc), although the names of the colour may be different. So those are the two options for a lighter colour - not using a lighter colour over your current colour, which unfortunately will not be effective. “What i'm looking for at the moment is a semi-permanent product that I can use between permanent dying. So if i use the permanent dye every 6 weeks, I would use a semi 'root cover up' product at the 2 and 4 week marks. “Delivery was fast but it took me a while to try it out as i had just used a colouring kit from the chemist just before that. I love how the items sent felt like it was a professional colouring kit, came with a smock, an oil barrier for the skin, and a wet wipe to remove colour stains (which was ❤️). No salon smell which was really good and I love the hair mask it came with. Results were super good! I had super soft, shiny hair for days and it completely covered my grey hair! I would probably get a lighter shade next time to get a really lighter brown hue.”

“This review is literally ten years in the making. As someone with naturally dark-ish brown hair, finding an ACTUALLY NUETRAL dark brown shade that left my hair just a bit darker and dimensional for oomph, but not black, red, or purpley and without the hot roots other brunettes know all about - plus covers the small patches of gray I now have forming without turning them some strange shade of light red orange or oversaturating the rest of my hair in the process of trying to get them to take color - has been a decade of blood, sweat, and tears, not to mention hundreds of wasted dollars in salon chairs and damaged tresses from boxed ammonia. Until *drumroll* enter the happy tears after using the Dark Brown from the Shade. It is, literally, everything I've ever wanted in a hair color. My hair is beautiful - a dimensional (but not overly reddish), glossy, true darkest brown color - dark enough to make my features pop against fair skin but that does not look flat blackish or "plumy" aka purple. Oh and I do not have a single gray in sight nor do I have any noticeable to the naked eye color distinction in the result on my grays. I'm sure if I went searching I could probably find some hairs I could tell were once gray. I'm also blown away by the value in the kit. I tried another subscription box when I was in the states and not only do they charge more for less, the result was so disappointing. My hair looked flat and felt damaged. This kit left my hair in better condition. I even recently tried ordering online the green based brown from Wella - a supposedly good quality color expertise brand - a shade specifically meant to neutralize red tones in an attempt to not get hot roots and it literally left my roots red, barely covered my grays other than to turn them orange, and left my hair damaged. All this to say, whatever magic is in this box is the real deal. Thank thank you thank you.”

“Easy to prepare/mix up in the bowl. The mix went on my hair nicely without any drips. There was plenty of mix for my hair length (a bit longer than shoulder length). I chose the Dark Brown shade, it ended up a bit darker than I expected but still nice. It covered all my greys coming through and easily did my roots. Conditioner afterwards was nice. Didn’t like the type of gloves supplied. Didn’t like using the included brush as the end had the hook, it should just be a point to help grab the hair to section. Having the hook was annoying.”
