Hi Mandy, Sorry you didn't get the colour results you were after! You mentioned in your colour consultation that you recently had a keratin treatment. Unfortunately keratin treatments can block colour absorption, which negatively impacts colour results. We do advise all clients who want to achieve two levels of colour lift that they should consult with one of our colourists directly, and unfortunately we didn't hear from you in regards to your colour selection. Our colourists can provide personalised colour advice which is critical to achieving successful colour results, particularly in situations such as yours where you wanted to lighten by two levels and there is pre-existing colour in the hair. Hi Lisa, Sorry to hear that your colour faded so quickly. Colour fade is typically due to porosity, and hair which is porous leaks colour. Please contact our colourists who can provide tips and techniques which help reduce porosity and which support colour retention on hair with high porosity. “I have only recently started dying my hair. I am intrinsically lazy when it comes to things like this, so getting my hair dye mailed to me means that I have one less thing to think about. It just arrives and I know I have to do it. I also REALLY like that it doesn't smell terrible like the supermarket box that I purchased for my first ever hair dye experience. That was enough to put me off doing it forever. The Shade doesn't smell bad, and it's easy enough to put on for even someone as uninterested in the whole thing as I am. Plus, the colour is good. I like the way my hair looks on the millions of zoom calls I have to do while I'm working from home.”

“Unfortunately the colour didn’t take on my hair- despite me leaving it in for over an hour! I asked and received advice from their colourists based on photos I sent- and bought the colour they suggested. I mixed it exactly as per the instructions but it did nothing. Waste of time, money.”

Hi Sheila, So sorry you didn't get the colour result you were after. Leaving the colour on longer than we advise in the instructions is not recommended and colour cannot lift or lighten pre-existing darker colour pigments in the hair, only a lightening process will do that. “I was really excited to use the product. I was impressed with the service and thought it would be perfect. Unfortunately it did not cover my greys. I found the softening(which was actually just a developer on its own) very laborious, took way too long and made it difficult to apply the colour after. Overal , the time was very long and I really was disappointed when it did not cover my greys. A lot of effort for no return.”

“I use light ash brown, my natural hair colour is a mousy grey/brown, this colour comes out quite dark at first, and even though it is an ash colour, it has undertones of chocolate. As it fades, it turns into a lovely strawberry light brown. I top up every 8 weeks. After years of using harsh chemicals my hair was looking limp and lifeless, a year of using THE SHADE, my hair feels fantastic and is growing thicker every day. The lady that cuts my hair has even commented on how amazing and soft my hair feels and loves the colour and shine. The shampoo and conditioner that comes with the colour is great too, and is now available to purchase, which im pleased about and will be purchasing once I have run out of existing product. The price is great too.”

“First I wanted to say a big thank you to Camilla for providing such incredible customer service. I had written an email in the evening to change my order and she responded to quite late in the evening more than happy to help. I was blown away and I just wanted to say thanks. I ordered from The Shade because I had been in lock down and my greys were looking not great and I wanted to use a product that would not damage my hair and the was used with quality ingredients. I was a bit scared because it was my first time and I did not want a colour band but everything exceeded my expectations. The colour was beautiful, it looked natural and made my hair feel beautiful. Keep up the great work!! Ps it’s such a blessing for me while I’m lockdown( don’t know how long) to be able to feel good about my hair.”

“This is the healthiest and most nourishing hair dye product a person can use. My color lasts, it blends with your natural highlights and the shampoo and conditioner leave hair feeling soft and strong. Coming from someone with fine hair and is prone to breakage. I enjoy trying to lighten my shade with this product form The Shade.”

“Hi whilst the customer service when you are looking to purchase is good. This really is just a box colour repackaged and not suited for blondes at all. It might work well if you are looking at the darker shades but I would not purchase again as it is just a supermarket colour and not of salon standards as promoted.”

Our colour is salon grade and free from ammonia, PPD, parabens and phthalates, so it is not only a better option than conventional colour, but it is an excellent option for people with a sensitive scalp or who have allergies or who are looking to avoid exposure to those older, stronger, harmful chemicals. We note that you were looking for a platinum blonde colour result - our colour is for two levels of colour change and we recommend that significant colour changes such as the colour result you were looking for, should be managed by professionals in a salon, as the lightening, colour and tone are increasingly complicated, and that shouldn't be attempted at home. “They only send a reminder email if this months shipment right when they send it, so if u want to cancel u can’t. Product is ok- I still get scalp inflammation and seems to wash out after 1 or 2 weeks. So, no great staying power over my very tough greys.”

“These are the only products I use when dying my hair! I have beached my hair for years and these colours are by best the far I have ever used. My mum is a hairdresser which helps but the shade of Ash I get is far better then any from the chemist or shop I have gone to.”
