“Buyers beware!! My 3 month subscription renewed automatically and I did not want to renew it. I opened a dispute with PayPal to try to get my money back. The dispute was closed and I didn’t get a refund... which is fine because I figured I’m still getting my boxes! ....fast forward to June, I still have not received my January/feb/March boxes. I thought it might be because of covid. I reached out to customer service and they said that their system put a stop to my boxes since there was a dispute open and will remain on hold in case there was a refund. I replied and said that the dispute had been closed since December and their would be no refund. Their customer service is the worst!!! They keep replying with the same exact message for the past 2 weeks, even after sending them the proof that the dispute is closed and there will be no refund. I asked them to send the boxes I paid for but they refused. They are scamming me. Unacceptable to have such bad customer service like this.”
“Buyer beware once you give this company your credit card information they have no problems charging you more for shipping randomly for whatever they feel like without your authorization. Even though when you sign up you are told shipping is free and even if you “think” you are authorizing a one time transaction. Then when you tell their customer service you want your money back they “apologize” and say that they can’t because you received an email saying you have to “opt out” even though you opted out already in the timeframe in question through their website. Then they want you to provide screen shots showing that you opted out, like you should have known they were shady. This company is using a pandemic to steal money from people and it’s very very sad.
Having to dispute the shipping charge with my credit card and still haven’t received a single premium box I ordered 2 months ago so if I don’t receive that in the next few weeks I’ll have to dispute the 3 month subscription too.”

After 8 weeks of waiting I receive a mal that they where returned to their office due to covid19. (their post offices didn't work properly...)
So they stalk you to pay more for DHL. another 11 dollars with each box.
2 boxes still have to arrive .... 4 to go....
I asked them to cancel my subscription and refund me the 4 boxes, which they haven't even send me. Not possible for them.
I started a dispute with my card company. Everyone should do this.
They are thiefs, they take your money easily from your bank account and do not give anything in return”
“I ordered mid March and currently it is almost June. My box has not arrived and even though I have been diligent and checked up behind them calling my post office and waiting additional time, this company still refuses to give me a refund. Please don't spend you money here. I tried reporting the company to the BBB but because they operate outside the US territory there is nothing I can do. But I will post my opinion every place I can!”
“I ordered a box months ago, way before any sort of country quarantines due to the pandemic began. The box never came and I reached out to customer service MULTIPLE TIMES and was told to wait two more weeks TWICE. So I did. Then I emailed them again after two weeks and was told that shipping is locked due to covid and they don’t know when I will receive my box. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Please do not participate in this scam and save your money.”
“They would charge extra fees without informing customers first - they would tell you AFTER you inquire about it - and absolutely no refunds. My box was sent back for no fault of my own and TokyoTreat wants to charge me twice as much to ship my box that I have already paid for for reshipping.
This is not how you do business. TokyoTreat is horrendous.”
“After ordering a 12 month subscription in March, I have received various and many extremely confusing emails about shipping and delays. They never refer to which box is delayed, returned, held, still being shipped etc. My first one shipped in March and It is now May and I have received no boxes. They try numerous times in emails to change your shipping options and upcharge you when the plan is free shipping.
Today was the last straw with a random email they sent that had this hidden in the center of the email "We would like to hear your shipping preference by 5/6/2020 23:59 JST, and if we don’t hear from you by then, you will be automatically converted to our DHL Shipping Plan."
They send TONS of emails, so if I had not read this email, I would have seen an $11 charge on my card in a week for upgraded shipping. I paid for a yearly free shipping plan, and wanted to set and forget. It is ridiculous I need to read every single email they send from top to bottom for the next year to make sure they don't randomly charge me when they deem necessary to switch my shipping.
I understand a lot of issues are happening with the post due to covid so I can understand delays, but don't send me opt - out upcharges in emails I may not read, and refer to which boxes are actually affected and what is happening with them.”
“I know Covid is taking a toll on everyone. But I just got an email from Toyko Treat saying they cant ship my box at all unless I pay another $5. It's already expensive and priority shipping should be included in that price, what a money grab. I paid the $5 because I'm a broke millenial and dont want to waste the first $40 I paid to them. I'll be using other services in the future, like Japan Crate, all their customers are still receiving their boxes without having to pay extra.”

“A scam be careful! I subscribed for 6 months only and even if it is written nowhere they automatically reniew the subscription (and charge you without notice) ! They refuse to refund me the 138USD which is unacceptable ! so now I will receive their boxes for the next 6 months which are absolutely not worth the price.

“TokyoTreat isn't a bad product in itself, but its *absolutely* overpriced. Simply go to Amazon and search for Japanese Candy/Snack box, and you will find hundreds of alternatives which offer double the amount of snacks for half the price. So if you're looking for value for money, steer away!”
“Support service is non existent. Bought gifts of Tokyo treat and nomakenolife boxes. Then realised I’d added the wrong email address to the Tokyo treat one. Only way to fix is to contact them. Raised a ticket and got a nonsense response that shows they didn’t even read my request - just closed it without resolving. Have contacted them twice more and still no response. So now I’ve paid for a 3 month subscription and neither my nephew (who now never received his Christmas present) can access what I paid for.”
