About Virgin Experience Days:

Virgin Experience Days was launched in March 2001 under the name of Virgin Experience. Originally offering experiences to corporate clients as a way of incentivising staff and customers, the company rapidly expanded to bring the Virgin values of quality, innovation, value for money and fun to the consumer experience gift market.
The summer of 2003 was a real milestone for Virgin Experience. In our continual quest to bring the best experiences and unrivalled service, we joined forces with Acorne Sports. Founded in 1988, Acorne Sports is the original experience company and it’s their stamp of approval that confirms our pedigree and ability to deliver unforgettable experiences. Acorne ’s unrivalled reputation, knowledge and relationship with all of the featured centres made them the perfect partners for Virgin Experience, a company dedicated to making sure customers have the very best time. By teaming up, we are able to challenge the way every experience is provided and offer once-in-a-lifetime gifts backed up by friendly service staff with first-hand knowledge.

I had a Liverpool FC experience Day purchased as a Christmas Gift or me and my son to enjoy a tour and a Meal with a legend. However without any notice to me Virgin no longer do this and I can no longer book onto this experience. All they will do is transfer the amount onto a gift card or I can choose another experience. This is no good to me as the Gift was tailored for what me and my son enjoy. I'm let with a worthless voucher and an upset son. Very poor handling by Virgin Experience.

The comedy experience was awful. Dirty venue, expensive drinks, uncomfortable atmosphere. Would never pay for this.

We were sent this experience as a gift for my wife's Special 60th Birthday present by my sister. I must say that it was an appalling experience! The lady tour guide had no 'script' or route to take within the Hall. Dates and events were haphazardly strung together. We didn't visit any part of the Hall that could be described as 'unseen' by regular clients at the Hall. We saw nothing of any value, except perhaps the Queens Room for when she entertains guests, and even that room did not emit grandeur and pomp! The Royal Box, is only Royal when Her Majesty attends, any other time, its just a box. The tour guide took us to three different levels to oversee the stage and explained about the echo-defeating circles that hang from the ceiling..... and I think that was about it as far as facts were delivered! She did keep referring to Paul Weller, who was rehearsing at the time of our Grand tour, and the fact that we mustn't take photographs as he wouldn't like it if he found out! In fact she was quite insistent on that fact, regardless of what the subject matter of the photograph would be! She did mention how the Hall came into being, she told that story three times, and showed us the pictures along the walls with comments such as ' we hold boxing here' when we passed a boxing match photograph ! She and the Grand ( ? ) Tour were poor. It was nearly as poor as the Afternoon Tea, which was dramatically poor!! We have had such Afternoon Tea Experiences at various establishments, and this one was way down the list where quality was concerned! 'Sandwiches', which were no more than finger light-bites and two hard scones each, followed by three small cakes. It did come with a full pot of tea, a good job too, as it helped lubricate the throat as it tried to ingest the dry and hard scones. To say that we were disappointed was an understatement.

Norwich Chaepelfield branch : Far from being a pleasant experience we were treated like second class citizens ! Set menu unavailable so we were given main menu with items we could eat with a big cross next to them. Waited a while for waitress to take our order, and we both chose the Camembert. It arrived minutes later - stone cold and rock solid in the middle. Called waitress over who said this doesn't normally happen ( not encouraging though as the lady sitting next to us complained about a lump of plastic in her mussels....) waited and they brought out the Camembert, this time it had been 'nuked' so although the inside was indeed liquified the outside was like concrete. My husband gave up and ate it, I just gave up ! Mains arrived , beef bourginon was nothing special but was edible but greasy , as was the potato. So I left most of it. ( used to have this at cafe rouge Center Parcs, it was great there !) My husbands - well words fail me. A dry looking piece of chicken with a little pot of sauce a small dish of chips and nothing else. How can you serve up a plate with just a piece of chicken on it ? Surely salad garnish wouldn't have been too much trouble to make it look even a little attractive ? Asked for the complimentary glasses of Prosecco before mains arrived - they arrived when we had nearly finished, obviously having sat on the counter,.. warming, and it wasn't that busy by the time we had our mains! Had the feeling the waitress was slightly irritated . My husband had creme brûlée which he said was nice, I just didn't bother with dessert I just wanted to leave . I couldn't stop apologising to him as this was a 'treat'. To add insult to injury, when we went to present our voucher ( think that was the problem, if they didn't know you had a voucher maybe service would have been better !) the waitress had to take it away to her manager . So we waited. And waited. Then I sat down at a table and waited. Finally we were told it was ok . I would never go back there again, and I feel really really disappointed, not the experience I had wanted or expected !

The day out was great but I am horrified that Virgin are suing NHS commissioners who will have too use public funds to fight the case. Brand damaging hence my poor review

I cannot rate my experience at this Spa, as I did cancel my voucher due to the impoliteness and adamant behaviour of their customer service. The treatment written on the fine print says "you will be treated....." no according to them. You have to do it yourself and check Virgin T&C. Rang them up they did not confirm what the lady called Paris at the Spa says and they refunded me the money

PREMIUM RATE TO BOOK!!! I bought my Husband a Sea Trek at Sea Life Centre Manchester. I had to go to the Virgin website to 'activate' the voucher. It then gave us only ONE way to book the day and that was a premium rate number. WE TRIED FOR 8 WEEKS TO GET THROUGH!!! The message is automated, offering numerous 'press number .. ' for whatever option. Sea Life was the 3rd option then another 4 options down the line. ONLY THEN did I receive a message saying 'We are experiencing unusually high call volumes at the moment ...' and waited and waited. I finally got through on the god knows what attempt after 19 minutes. THIS IS DISGRACEFUL. The woman then wanted to chat about rubbish and I told her to just book me in and stop asking me how I am and am I having a nice day. My phone bills have added up to .. would you believe .... over £25 in call attempts. I asked was there another way to book and she confirmed there was only the premium rate number. I am guessing it is cheaper to book direct with Sea Life Centre. Sea Trek was 10 minutes and tiny but Hubby enjoyed it.

Total rip off, spent £50 voucher on a meal for two at Cafe Rouge. Discovered when asked for the bill that the meal only actually cost £27.50 for two!!

I bought my husband a two night break for two in Edinburgh City Hotel, we tried booking for his birthday by calling seven weeks in advance. Unfortunately the hotel did not have any availability so we decided to extend the voucher as it was near expiry. This time we called the hotel 10 weeks in advance for the dates we required and again there is no availability. The first set of dates they have available are in September, which is beyond our voucher expiry in June. Why sell this experience if it is never going to be available. It's a waste of money!!!

Really disappointed, long way to travel for 15 minutes with an uninterested young instructor that made no conversation

I booked a haircut and blowdry with the hair group well over a month ago now. I phoned as instructed, and was told that they would phone back between 3-10 days. Like I said, over a month ago. I have tried to contact them, but they don't ring back. Virgin are also quite unhelpful. There appears to be no way to complain or report things.

I had a bump to babies photo package and was told that I could view and select a photograph after my pregnancy shoot. This was not the case on the day which I was disappointed about.

Five month life on a flying voucher ending in May and 20.00 extend it. It would have been better to book directly and have a choice of dates in summer

I had a theatre and meal experience given to me and my partner. We booked up and we're looking forward to our weekend. 2 days after booking we were informed by virgin that the restaurant we had booked would be under going renovations at the time we are booked for, I cannot believe that virgin did not know about this at the time of booking as the restaurant is at a big London hotel and we booked only 4 weeks before going. Virgin offered us alternative restaurants, but this took several phone calls at my expense for which they were not bothered about in the slightest. I found the staff I dealt with quiet rude and unhelpful with regards to this problem, and there was no offer of the slightest good will gesture for the inconvenience cause. We received this as a gift from a family member which was lovely, unfortunately the whole inconvenience of the booking process has spoilt a lovely gesture. I certainly would not buy a virgin experience for anybody, I would look for an alternative company.

I have had awful experiences with Virgin Experience days - it is a painful and long winded process and you end up not being able to book the experience you want. the staff are less than helpful and take an age to come back to you I would not recommend Virgin Experience days at all just from a service and logistical point of view

Ordered 2 seperate experiences for 2 seperate people to go to 2 different addresses. They were both sent to the same person who thought they were both for her and was delighted. When I realised the mistake I called up to sort out the error only to be told the only way I could rectify it was to ask for my mother in law to give back the presents she had been so excited to receive. They admitted it was human error on their part but would only offer me a measly 15% off if I wanted to repurchase another gift to replace the one that got sent to the wrong person. Terrible customer service - they just don't care.

Staff are genuinely combative on the phone and not looking to help and sometimes genuinely angry. They were happy to cancelled on me at short notice and lacked concern that I had to expensive travel arrangements which were now worthless. When tried to re-arrange at short notice (longer than their notice) I was told it was not possible. Only use them for ideas and locations. By-pass them when you've made a decision.

Voucher was misplaced in the Christmas clean up - they refused to e mail though and requested a further £20 to reissue another piece of paper! Really?? Rather greedy and shan't be booking again

Left over 30 mins LATE on a 2hr trip as the boat arrived 25 mins LATE !! Queue jumpers made it pointless and trip ended 8.20pm so about 1h 20 mins altogether. Waste of time. Had a great day out in London and this spoilt it. If your thinking of doing this then THINK AGAIN and save your £££ for something better.
