“I love the spin of this bar it is true to the hype. I love how smoothly it spins while obtaining my grip for first pull. The bar will roll into your grip smoothly. I especially feel the spin on the jerk as I can feel my hands/wrist turning over into position. I was disappointed with the knurling. The knurling is not very aggressive at all and the cuts on my bar were a little (maybe more then a little) sloppy. The center knurling lines are slanted and not on a crisp start and finish. Seems the machining process was not on point. The outer knurling also blend in and don't have a crisp sharp beginning. None of which affect the bar spin or performance but just looks sloppy for a $500 bar. Overall great bar performance. Sloppy on looks.”

Hi Juan, What you speak of is a result of the thickness of the Hard Chrome Plating. The knurling is cut very straight on the raw steel. The raw steel is then polished in the smooth areas where there is no knurling. The polisher can slightly touch the borders of the knurling. After the Hard Chrome is applied at the thickness we specify and then polished again, the borders of the knurling can be slightly obscured. It's just part of the manufacturing process. If we used a less expensive process like bright zinc or nickel chrome the borers of the knurling would be very crisp, but neither of those finishes would last as long. So we sacrifice a little aesthetics for more durability and performance. Thanks for your purchase and review!

“I spent a while researching for an affordable GHD for my home gym. I'm not into CrossFit, but I liked the functional workouts you could perform on a GHD. The Vulcan GHD was much lower in cost than most of the GHDs on the market. It also had great reviews from other customers and appeared to be a solidly built unit. I received my GHD last week and couldn't be happier. First of all, I'm very impressed with the way Vulcan does business. I ordered the unit on a Wednesday, and had it at my house two days later. Assembly took a little less than an hour. It's a bit intimidating at first, because the only assembly directions consist of a one page diagram. However, it did prove to be very straight forward. The unit itself is very well built and very very solid. I'm about 185 lbs. and the thing barely moves when I use it. Highly recommended.”

“I am loving the sets of bumper plates, the only thing I wasn't too fond of was the rubber smell but after a few weeks and a wipe down, it has gone away. I will definitely be purchasing more as I start going up in weight.”

“I bought this bar for my home gym because I decided it was time to upgrade from my cheap bar I'd been using the last couple years and this has been a fantastic upgrade. This bar is amazingly quiet and tight. You can drop it and it makes little to no noise. The spin is fantastic and the knurl is perfect for those who do all rep ranges. Enough knurl for heavy pulls but not so much that high rep work (20+) tears up your hands. Add all these to the fact that the bar is so competitively priced for its quality and that Vulcan has free shipping and it is, in my opinion, the best economy bar on the market and can compete with many bars far more expensive. Would give 6 stars if I could.”

“The only problem I had was one of the plates was a bit too snug due to the steel insert, but they sent a new plate without issue just a few days later. That should tell you that these plates don't have any wiggle room, which is great, it'll keep your bar and plates in better condition longer. The dead bounce really is a dead bounce. There's not much bounce to these at all. The bar doesn't roll around on the mat before a pull like some other plates cause either. I can't account for the durability since I've only had them a few weeks but so far so good. They seem very sturdy and durable so we'll see. I'll update if anything about them change.”

“I am very pleased with this bar. The chrome is great for my Florida humidity and will look good for life. The knurl is less aggressive than my other bar (Mavrik, 1983 purchased new). I did my research before buying and I did not find anything close for the price. Highly recommended.”

“The Vulcan GHD has all the features of most good GHDs and a couple more. The adjustment is much easier with the ankle pad setup sliding on bearing rails. Easy and quick. I also like the adjustable attachments for bands, as we like to use bands rather than weights, especially for back extensions. Great price for a great product.”

“Great bar for the price. The black finish on the sleeves gets lightly marked up each time a plate is added or removed, but this does not effect performance. The performance of the bar from feel, knurl, spin and whip are excellent. Definitely recommend the bar. The purchasing experience was quick and easy as well.”
