We have stayed at various Warner Hotels over 24 years. We have often had 2 (or 3) holidays a year. Have recommended to family & friends... but our recent visit to Thoresby (13-17th Sept) has disappointed us immensely. Everyone is aware of the staff shortages caused by Covid restrictions; we tried to be understanding but are afraid Waiters let you down. On our first two nights we were not asked if we'd like to order drinks and once we'd ordered our food the waiter never asked - and catching their eye was impossible. (We then ordered drinks before the food and that solved that problem!) The food was ok, sometimes delicious, but frequently cold due to slow service. One evening we were patiently waiting for dessert when a waiter delivered us a starter!! On leaving the dining room we usually go to the Pavilion bar/theatre to have drinks before the entertainment. The bar didn't open until 8pm, with just one server for first hour. Any 'decent' entertainment didn't start until 10pm. That's a long wait when you've dined at 6.30 and ready for fun at 7.15pm!! We already have a booking for next June at Corton but will possibly have a break from Warners until life gets back to better reality. Also SO SAD to see the comfy sofas and armchairs taken from Great Hall- it just looks like a cafe now.

4 day break at Holm Lacey was really enjoyable - made more so by the entertainment staff. The evening entertainment was excellent on all three nights of our stay. (4 ladies of pension age - however very young at heart) We joined in quizzes, line dancing, tai che, etc etc. Couldn’t have been bettered. The rooms were spotlessly clean, & well decorated. One small addition to the bathroom would be another handrail at the end of the bath making exit less insecure & worrisome. Our only complaint is the food & drinks issue in the restaurants. Warner’s management seem not to have adjusted to the new normal that is Covid restrictions. The buffet style eating has been replaced by what can only be described as a poor replacement. The restaurant management have not directed their staff to deal with even where their table numbers are - resulting in lukewarm or cold food placed before you. Not what we as your paying customers expect from a Warner’s Leisure hotel. Here’s hoping this will improve massively for our next planned visit or I regret to say, Warner’s will lose their loyal often returning clients.

The staff were always helpful and couldn't do enough for you. The hotel and grounds were beautiful Only thing spoilt the stay was bathroom smelt foisty when we mentioned to receptionist it was deep cleaned but after couple days smell came back. The extractor fan was on more or less constantly during night and the noise kept us awake. We did tell receptionists but didn't help.

Excellent friendly staff nothing to much trouble had wonderful stay . Reviews I read quite unsure been going to warners 30 years never had problems. But few issues with wait times for meal but things could be improved by looking at booking we was a table for six and our 5able was always ready but had to que behind people waiting for smaller tables so maybe that could be looked. Ques were very long at times . But we did ask to go thro and was aloud . Food Excellent only 1 complaint first nght fish over cooked . Entertainment brilliant

Just been to studley castle where we have stayed twice before , disappointed with the meals as not such a great choice as before, room was lovely on 3rd floor with balcony but balcony had not been cleaned and was full of cobwebs and spiders, we also had to wait for our desserts in the evenings waiter had not put in order , I did like the buffet style breakfast but table service for evening meals , we had a genesis tribute band on Saturday night which were fantastic and I'm sorry to say last night the warners team were entertaining us well they were trying as non of them could sing and they sounded awgul alot of guests including us left the room

Booked our first Warner break at Nidd Hall for friends & ourselves. Booking process easy and subsequent 5 night stay at Nidd Hall was excellent. A terrific place. However prior to our break Warners requested that we pre book our meals which I thought was a good idea as this would enable us to set meal times that fitted in with our trips out etc. Problems then arose as their system only allows you to pre book one set of meals and not that for our friends; which meant that I had to repeat the same details thereafter; which might not seem a problem, until you find that Nidd Hall have two separate eating areas. Then add 5 breakfast times & locations, then 5 evening meal times & locations. It was like a completing a Chinese algorithm! {No such issue when I booked the original stay!} After pre booking Warners sent me a confirmation e-mail confirming all meal times/locations stating that if it became necessary to change a meal time, this could only be done via a drop down link on their e-mail; which they said would be dealt with within 72 hours. All ok until due to a daytime outing it became necessary to change one evening meal time. Not a problem I thought, silly me! Used the drop down link to request change, sent the e-mail and received automated reply saying that request would be dealt with and that I would be contacted within the next 72 hours. However no response; so sent second e-mail, still no response, so sent third e-mail and yep, you guessed - NO RESPONSE. Then tried telephoning Warners & Nidd Hall but all calls met with automated recordings stating that too busy, try again. This went on for days until eventually & miraculously a human answered at Warners. They informed me that as our trip was now imminent they were unable to make any changes; but that they would get Nidd Hall to call me to deal with the issue. Yep, Guess what......NO CALL. As I've stated previously, easy booking process but contact thereafter TERRIBLE.

Just returned from Alveston Hall after a four night stay. Stayed in a signature room which was good. Paid extra for a large balcony which was disgusting,probably had not been cleaned since it was built,bird mess all over the glass,wooden hand rails covered in algae. The dining experience was not good food below average not much choice and obviously very short of staff.Staff need training in customer service one of the dining room staff was extremely rude to a guest causing embarrassment to everyone. The grounds have not had the attention that they require and have just been let go. This was our first experience with Warner’s and it will our last definatley not worth the money.

We decided to celebrate our 53rd wedding anniversary by treating ourselves to, what we hoped, would be a luxury break but, unfortunately, we were rather disappointed. Nidd Hall is a beautiful old building in a lovely location but our guest experience did not live up to the standard we expected for the cost incurred. The staff were very friendly and helpful. What was lacking was the attention to detail. The room was fine but there were aspects of service which were lacking. We did enjoy our afternoon tea even though we found that the plain scone was inedible as it appeared to be frozen. This was rectified quickly and courteously. The rest of the food we had was of a reasonable standard but lacked flavour. We used the library but were disappointed that there were no coffee table books to look at, just a magazine. I regret to say that we will not be recommending this hotel.

Have just returned from a great week end stay at Bodelwyddan Castle, cannot fault anything, beautiful place and surroundings, and now Warners have also bought the Castle itself, we were informed. The entertainment was excellent, with the great Paul Da Vinci show and an excellent tribute group to the Bee Gees. plus Disco inferno. The staff, food everything was excellent despite the Covid problem, the staff wore masks the whole of the time, guests by choice. Well done Warners, it was the break we needed.

We have just spent 3 days at Warner Hotel's, Thoresby Hall, which cost nearly £900 and the whole experience was a massively overpriced disappointment. The service was absolutely appalling as we were often having to wait half a hour or more between courses for dinner and on 2 occasions our order had been forgotten and it was 25 minutes before our wine turned up. Tea and coffees were served at all meals by a waiter but often they served one or two tables in the smaller dining rooms and then simply disappeared. Our bedroom was on the 4th level of the new building which was like an absolute sauna and it was so hot we couldn't sleep even though the outside temperature was less than 16 degrees at night. There was an electric fan in the room but that didn't help nor did having the windows wide open. 2 floors down it was 10 degrees cooler. Many of the reception staff didn't even understand about the leisure activities and sent us on a long walk down to the spa reception when they should have been taking the booking for things like archery themselves. Once they was no milk provided after the room was cleaned and it took over 90 minutes before any turned up by which time we'd had a cup of black coffee and left. Yes many hotels are suffering staff shortages but Which magazine has rated Warner as one of the best hotel groups but this was the very worst experience we have ever had in a hotel, anywhere in the world. And to top it all there was a Fun fair/music festival in the grounds in front of the hotel which was so loud and that you couldn't hear yourself speak when sitting on the terrace or in some of the lounges. All in all it was a dreadful experience. Give Warner hotels a miss, you won't regret it. We weren't the only ones making these same complaints by any means.

Stayed at studley castle in july food cold staff unhelpful room above outside bins and above the extractor fans for kitchen area so new exactly what the meals at night were going to be never had the same table or waiting staff at meal times told it was not to overwhelm the kitchen and waiting staff I'd factored in the covid problems we had not had a holiday since 2019 and was looking forward to this break at warners new flagship hotel I've had better food at wetherspoons

We have stayed at Warner’s since 2006 and always had a great time, we constantly recommended Warners to friends and family but having just spent 4 nights at Holme Lacy we were very disappointed with the standard of food and service. We must add that the majority of the staff were friendly and polite, but having paid £200 for our evening meals it certainly was not value for money. The food was cold, overcooked, uninspiring, the menu range was very poor. We were bitterly disappointed. We did miss the carvery and hope that Warner will reinstate the breakfast and evening meal experience. We are aware of the present circumstances (COVID) but hope that when normality returns Warner’s will as well.

Five of us enjoyed our break at Corton BUT the following are irritations. Decent furniture outside the chalets. £5 added to the price of a bottle of wine and general increase in drinks prices. Poor quality wine list. Diet lemonade on tab for diabetics. No coasters. No shop - come on we need a shop. More entertainment during the day. Don't touch the plates-where is the sign. Staff have trays to clear the tables. £60 for a patio, come on make you money up some other way.

Spa break that I booked was not available as only one member of staff works on Monday, and she was fully booked up months or before On my arrival other leisure facilities were closed for one and 1/2 hours when it reopened there was too many people who wanted to use it so this was not available also Raised concerns with the on site manager who became very aggressive dismissive and unprofessional

Our stay at Nidd Hall starting 19th July was disappointing. Room 181 a signature room was dark and dismal, the light was turned on for reading in daylight hours. The view from the porthole window was the roof! There was a leak from the bathroom sink which was reported to the house keeper who organised a plumber who couldn’t fix the problem that day but never came back. We were told that we couldn’t change the room. We later found that the leak had not been reported to reception and also that we were mis informed about a room change. The head receptionist offered us a change on Wednesday evening, we declined as we were leaving on Friday morning. In fairness she gave us a discount on our drinks bill, a service accepted reluctantly. The restaurant was way below the usual Warner standard. We had problems with the restaurant manager who was rude and incapable of dealing with clients with mobility problems. There is a one way system in the restaurant but as my husband uses a scooter we had to enter through the exit. The system of booking in each meal meant that we were left waiting on more than one occasion. We were allocated a table on the first evening because of our limitations but on more than one occasion other people were sitting at it. He made no attempt to solve this problem in fact telling us it wasn’t his fault if other guests sat there, clearly he had directed them to that table! During our stay when ordering drinks etc. We were asked if we had a Warner card. I had had an email asking me to register and had done so. This was our fifth visit to Warners. A silver card arrived today with a covering letter which said that you were pleased that we had enjoyed our FIRST break with you. Do you not have customer records? I am regularly emailed by you company so someone knows us! I have read other reviews on line and it would seem I am not the only disappointed customer. We have all had a hard time of late but the fact remains that Warner holidays are not inexpensive. We have always felt we had value for money but not this time. Perhaps the biggest disappointment is what appears to be the lack of communication. I have filled in the feedback form and tried to email about our break. Perhaps the company is a little blinkered just now, my advice is read your reviews and speak to you customers while you still have them.

We left a day early, we just couldn't face another meal! Sad to say the food at Littlecote was awful, our first dinner was tepid the full English breakfast was cold the eggs were well over cooked, to make things worse the replacement dishes were wrapped in cling film under a light waiting for the current trays to be used, heaven only knows what that was like! Moving on to the evening meal we both had lamb shanks (tepid) cold greasy roast potatoes and cold vegetables. The last straw was breakfast on our penultimate day eggs royale brought to us instantly after ordering stone cold, we couldn't take anymore sorry Warner unless you go back to pre-Covid standards we will not return.

The hotel @ Holme Lacy was good, grounds & facilities but the food was badly cooked & not up to previous standard. Hake like cardboard, lamb shank could not get my fork in, items missing from plate & since when was an omelette some beaten egg cooked flat. Very disappointing & quite a jump in the price. Valerie

Received upgrade,offered to pay,told it was free,2 double rooms,single occupancy,realised no milk in room,rang reception,was told because the upgrade was free we would NOT be given milk !!On the way to the “icemaiden” met a staff member,told her,15 mins later,milk delivered!!Beat that 😡 felt sorry for the staff,food disappointing,ThoresburyHall
