We arrived with another couple for a pintail pitch, we were on 10 and our friends were on 8, we asked if we could be together as there was no one set up on 9, we were told no even though would have been very simple to swap whoever was in 9 with my friends in 8. The people who had pitch 9 arrived shortly after us and as my friends hadn’t set up we asked if they wouldn’t mind swapping and they said yes, we don’t see why reception couldn’t have done this for us and saved us the awkwardness of having to ask complete strangers who could have been as difficult as reception and said no. The facilities were okay but had a constant smell of either fish or sewers especially the ones that face the car park and shop. There was also only 1 block of showers which we felt was inadequate for the amount of people you had staying when you take into consideration the yurts, caravan pitches and camping pitches. We went in the Waveney Inn and was met with staff who were quite rude when we walked up to a bit that we was apparently not allowed up to when there was no signs stating this, so we wasn’t to know and as no one had greeted us at the door we were unaware as to where to wait. When we got to our table we asked for a menu, was told “they are over there” and then no one even bothered to ask what we wanted to order therefore we didn’t bother, paid for our drinks and got a dominoes pizza delivered instead! This was our first visit to Waveney River Centre and will most probably be our last.

We did a couple of nights in one of the yurts and it was lovely. ONE downside only - not as 'reclusive' as the website led us to believe. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The site was really clean and the whole range of facilities were very well maintained. Loved sleeping in the yurt; comfy bed, lots of storage space and really clean and well kept. Such a shame it was too hot to use the log burner. We had a bit of a dodgy meal at the pub but the staff couldn't do more to rectify the problems and I'm sure it was a one off. Would defo. visit again.

Small pitches very close together. Toilet and shower blocks not cleaned regularly enough, very noisy until late at night from the yurts. Smoking and swearing on site. Bin areas very dirty. Lovely site could be improved.

We come every year but slightly disappointed this time as toilets seemed unkept. Lady on reception on our arrival was lovely but the lady with black hair very unapproachable. We will come again as we live this place but a little disappointed 😔

Enjoyed our stay, despite the weather! The yurts were very cosy. We had some incredibly noisy neighbours at 1am next door, which did ruin the sleep. The wind also meant that the straps outside the yurt flapped all night, and I feel like these could be tightened. The yurt floor I don’t think had been swept either. All in all a lovely weekend, but a few things could be improved.

Stayed in the Chart Room which was comfortable and big enough for my needs. Breakfast in the restaurant was a bit of a let down, limited choice and felt more like a cafe breakfast than a breakfast that comes with a room at £130 per night....... this might have been due to COVID but if that were the case then the price should have reflected this too. I took bikes and a canoe and although they accommodated me there are no secure facilities to store bicycles which was a shame given the lovely countryside surrounding the site. Swimming pool is very good and managed really well during the COVID restrictions.

Great location. Pitches closer together than appear in the pictures. Per my wife the women’s toilets were filthy. She saw the cleaners go in and give a very swift clean, not good enough at the best of times let alone with covid about. Onsite pub nice

This is our 2nd visit, the location is great as is the staff in both reception & the inn, however the standard of the lodge was poor , the lodge required a deep clean, as both bathrooms were very dirty on arrival, the floor in the living room was full of dog hair, on cleaning the living area the brush provided was very dirty and had held a huge amount of either dog or human hair, the lodge itself looked very tired & needed decorated throughout. Basic Maintenance checks needs to be completed throughout the lodge for example loose tap in the on suite & shower door hanging off the track - hope this helps.

I was surprised that the shower block doors weren’t propped open to ventilate in between uses. I understand they have a coding system but quite often they aren’t locked so given the situation I thought this would have been essential, and for this reason was reluctant to use them. On a positive note, the take away service from the restaurant was great

We have just returned from a weeks stay here and unfortunately we were disappointed with cleanliness of the lodges this year. On our arrival we found that our lodge hadn't been swept and I had to go around and sweep the living and kitchen Area before I could unpack. The whole feel if our lodge just didn't feel clean Plus my mum had to mop the floor and there sofa looked and felt dirty

Hi, we do love this place. This time we had a dog and it’s great to see how dog friendly you are. When we arrived the lady directed us to our pitch, but no welcome leaflet/pack was provided, so we didn’t know the code for the shower. I was also looking for a dog walking area and the same lady was in reception and I asked the best place to walk a dog and she said you can go to the church or around the roads. It was on our last day we found the other field which would of been ideal. Also we were never told about the ferry that dogs are allowed on. The food in the pub is good but the service is a bit hit and miss, but they are working hard in the heat. We will be coming back in the future. Thanks Paul

Disappointed with my stay this time. Have stayed here a few times before and have always been pleased with the service. I wasn’t disappointed with my stay because of the COVID-19 measures which were actually very good and made me feel very safe. My disappointment is with the pricing. I do a lot of cycle touring and most campsites let me camp with my fellow cycle tourer on one pitch as we only have very small tents each. On this campsite I was told I had to pay for two pitches (pitches for two people). This cost us more than twice what we would normally expect to pay and more than the price of the yurts and pods on their site, which can hold 3-4 people. It’s a lovely campsite in general but they need to sort their pricing strategy out.

Campsite has a lot going on in a small space. From hotel rooms and camping pods to tents and boats and a swimming pool. The tent space, although classed as large, are cramped into a small space with what is essentially a road in front for cars to drive to tents - not much open space for kids to play outside tents or on bikes / scooters. Grass is unkept as well so we were basically on dust the whole time. Pub on site with nice food and very friendly staff. Staff at site (the one I saw) were very helpful and nice. No personal touches. It was nice for the duration but too commercial for us. However, it does have everything from swimming pool to play area to river and the shower block was to a good standard - this review is based on personal preferences as space around tent is preferred.

Nice secluded area to camp, not to loud, canoeing for 3 hours at a decent price. The manager I’m guessing of the restaurant was an absolute diamond and made our stay here a bit better as some of the staff weren’t so helpful and were quite rude to us. We would come back though

Caravan pitches were too small. People were having to sit on the road in front as there was no room on the pitch if you had an awning. We were on pitch 9 next to the toilet block and we could see this as we were sat in the van. We asked to move and the man who checked us in asked us to wait and ask the people on the other pitch when they arrived! The pool attendant was reluctant to give out the code for the showers until she was pressed to give it to me. In short, it caters more for tents, small campervans and boat visitors rather than caravans.

It was just ok. Staff were friendly but accommodation was dated and the beds were just awful. 4 nights of bad sleep with soft, rubbish, elderly mattresses was not good. I would urgently recommend a refurb with quality beds. Pub was just ok - food was average but staff were nice. I wouldn’t come back unless the beds were better.

The site as a whole is lovely, the food from the waveny Inn was very nice and a good price. A lovely destination for couples and families. Unfortunately the only downside was the temperature of the escape pod. We had the doors open all evening to cool it down for when we went to bed but even with the window open and a fan on, the heat was just unbearable. We considered sleeping with the doors open but didn't deem that very safe but with just the window alone it wasn't enough. It would be more ideal in the cooler months but for summer it is way too hot. When we left we expected it to be warm outside but it was borderline chilly so it wasn't even the weather making the pod hot. We struggled to sleep and therefore decided to leave the pod early and drive home in the middle of night which wasn't ideal. It's a shame that such a nice day/evening had to be cut short.

Beautiful location. However the whole place could use a bit of investment and TLC. The Inn toilets are a bit run down. We couldn’t get a table to eat whilst we were there but did go for drinks on a few occasions. The crew on the boats/ferry were very helpful and friendly. Staff in the shop and bar were much less pleasant. The pitches for campervan and tents are really close together making for a noisy site. Other than a play area there isn’t a lot else kids can safely do on their own. The shop doesn’t sell ice, unusual for a shop on a campsite/marina. The map on the One day hire boats is partially obscured by the addition of photos and therefore hard to use. Having maps with suggested routes and rough journey times would make the boating experience easier.
