I have also just come back from holiday at Waveney. We came back 2days early as there isn’t anything to do on the site apart from the swimming pool which we used. Took our dog planning to go on lots of walks with her along the river as mentioned on the website but was not told all the walks were the other side of the river, which was reached by a ferry that was out of action. So just ended up walking on the road. Also the shop was poorly stocked couldn’t even get a newspaper and milk was in short supply. Ended up going into Beccles. I was hoping to park my car and not have to drive much. No complaints with the lodge which was very nice but didn’t want to spend a week sitting in that.

Arrived to find dishwasher full of dirty plates and glasses, the foot ferry was not working so unable to go for any walks, the waveney inn is disappointing to say the least, no atmosphere at all. Thought we would hire a day boat- unfortunately not, they don’t hire them out until Easter, asked at reception why this is not advertised on there website ‘I don’t know what is on our website’ was the response I got, that’s helpful. Basically you have to drive everywhere, no long walks to go on, which when they advertise as a dog friendly resort is a joke. You have to pay for internet separately aswell. Been to numerous lodges over the years and this is the worst site by far.

Sorry to say we left early as Pitch next to play area and car park not great, people just wandering through and very noisy. Young chap who was managing kayak rental was super helpful with information on tides and map of broads.

I actually feel pretty bad about leaving this review, not only because it's public and may have a negative impact that causes the standards to fall even more but also because ive stayed here 5 times in the past and never once had a single issue. The reason I'm leaving this as a review rather than approaching them directly is because every member of staff we encountered was very friendly, professional and did everything they could to make our time as good as they possibly could. I would give the staff 5 stars if I could rate them separately...So we didn't think it fair to have a moan at them for something that's clearly a fault with the management. So here it is, I paid £85 for one night in an escape pod with 3 others (double what it is usually is) with the intention if going swimming, having a nice meal, a few drinks and then waking up to a nice breakfast like we have every time in the past. This is what we got: Told we couldn't use the pool because we hadn't booked in advance and last swim is 4:30pm (It says on Google that it closes at 11pm and we wasn't told we would need to book at any point before I paid for the pod) We then decided to head over to the bar and get something to eat, only be to told that they couldn't feed us because we didnt book a table in advance. (Same as before, we wasn't told about this) So we had to order a kebab, not the end of the world but I could have just had a kebab at home and saved us some cash. After sinking over £140 of drinks we decided to move on to cocktails and shots (only to be told they don't sell any of those) also not the end of the world but come on? It's a pub! 🙃 We woke up this morning hungover and very very hungry, decided to brave the showers to brush my teeth and came rushing out within seconds due them smelling horrendous... (I know what you're thinking but we tried multiple cubicles and all them had the same vile smell 🙄) So we skipped that and decided to go to breakfast only to be told (you guessed it) that we couldn't be fed and needed to book in advance! By this point, the veins in my forehead began to pulsate and I was subject to involuntary eye twitches. We still decided to stay and have a cappuccino and a latte, both of which just tasted like warm milk (may have been down to our alcohol consumption last night in your defence) After this, we decided that we could starve no longer and checked out 3 hours early so we could go and get something to eat at macdonalds. So all in all, last night cost us a grand total of £301.27, for that price we could have booked a flash hoyel room with a pool that would have fed us any time we wanted it. And that's exactly what we will be doing next time.

This place has so much potential but nobody seemed to care about the place, bar closing at half 8, no bookings in the restaurant, had to be quiet by 10pm, which most people weren't which is fine as on hols. Had to be off the pitch by 11am, tent was barely dry, 1pm would be better, then new arrivals at 2pm. Had to order food to be delivered or drive to Beccles as you can only do so many bbqs. Won't be back!

VERY DISAPPOINTED. We booked nearly a year in advance, on booing we spoke at length to the booking team about our needs as we had a disabled child a large twin axle caravan and full awning. We where assured that the Kingfisher 6s was a super pitch and very large to accommodate the unit we had. on arrival we where shocked at the size. Once the van was squeezed in up against the hedge on one side and touching the hedge at the back we could erect the awning. This left NO outdoor space at all, nowhere to house a small table or even a chair as the awning was about 1.5 ft from the hedge the other side. On further investigation with North Norfolk council and photographer and measurements we believe you are breaching the rules layed down. We are going to send the evidence we gathered in regards to those breaches. We spoke to reception on arrival as we couldn't park the car on the pitch as the van was to long and we wanted to ask if we could park it on the grass opposite. We where told no but a duty manager would come and have a chat with us, no one came, we asked again the next day and again told someone would come up, no one came, we then gave up.

Shower block needs updating, mouldy ceilings, laminate coming away from walls. This could have been addressed in Lockdown. Poor cleanliness, needs to be cleaned more than twice a day. Restaurant and bar hardly open, bar closed at 10 when it was actually open. Wasn’t able to book a table. No takeaway service available. Poorly stocked shop. Excessive noise and rowdiness after 10pm. We couldn’t check in remotely as requested as they didn’t answer the phone. When entering reception area, staff were busy chatting. Also tried calling days before arrival and did not answer. We have visited Waveney on more than one occasion over the years but have left very disappointed

The road leading down to the River Center is not fit to tow a caravan down, I drove down at 15 mph with the caravan with grass and other objects brushing along side the narrow road. This was several miles and had supposed passing places. The pitch I had wasn't big enough, the hedges surrounding it were overgrown and unkept, they were brushing up against the caravan on one side and the awning on the other. therefore there was nowhere to sit out . My vehicle had to be parked in front of the van so blocking my view. We were parked on the end next to the building with toilets showers etc and waste emptying point was around 30 feet from the van. this was a very unpleasant area the actual waste emptying point was virtually on ground level so you had to bend down to empty your loo, instead of it having a nice deep funnel bowl it was virtually flat so . which obviously made it messy as some people seem to be spilling over the sides so you were stood in other peoples waste. i spoke witgh a few of the other caravan people who also said this would be their first and last visit but dont let me be the judge and put you off. Please go and see for yourselves.

The centre is close in miles i.e Lowestoft to some nice places but to drive to them is a trek unfortunately, not your fault however the website should make this clear to avoid disappointment. Not much to do in the area so was a letdown. But the most disappointing aspect of our visit made us leave with two nights remaining. Even though we handed the keys back days early no one even bothered to call us or see if we were ok. We certainly were not. On our first night we decided to eat at the Inn. We hadn’t booked. We decided to see if they would take us anyway. We greeted the waitress (short with blonde hair) at the door nicely. She asked if we had booked. We said we hadn’t. The restaurant was probably at 15% occupancy. She said sorry we have to have a booking. My girlfriend then asked politely, “even if we are staying?” The girl rolled her eyes and trundled off saying that she needed to check with the kitchen. Another waitress (tall with black hair) arrived, dressed in black and said can she help, we asked for a table. She said that’s fine. I laughed a bit, thinking the two of them hadn’t talked and was wondering why one would say yes but the other didn’t. They had talked. The girl rudely said that the other girl had to check with the kitchen and that I’d been rude to her colleague. At that point my blood boiled and I asked her what she had just said. She said that we had been rude to her to which my partner replied saying words to the effect of ‘I only asked her do we need to book even if we’re staying here!’ This immediately alienated us and we walked out absolutely shell shocked at the ridiculous, petty and flakey way we had been treated. We drove into town and found a pub happy to have the custom. Never ever been treated like this before. To be accused of rudeness when it was your staff that were rude is incomprehensible. It meant we couldn’t go to the Inn anymore so the stay was pointless and we left the next morning. The day we left was my partner’s birthday so to try and salvage some of the day, I ended up booking somewhere else which resulted in spending more money than expected! The tick box waivers you make everyone sign beforehand was a very poor introduction to what should be a relaxing break away and an indicator of the pompous nature of your team. We expect an appropriate response (not an automated response) and some money back as we spent enough to holiday here and ended up only spending one night.

Very dissappointed with our stay and lack of managerial support, especially since you left your innexperienced staff to deal with a catalogue of problems. From our arrival with our friends (Mr&Mrs Hickson) on the Friday we had made long journeys to Waveney and were looking forward to a relaxing evening at the Waveney Inn which is positively portrayed on your website. Having ordered our first round of drinks, the young girl tipped the tray of drinks over us at the outside table. Clearly an accident, but having dried ourselves we settled in to replaced drinks and asked to see menus to order evening meals only to be told that unless we had already booked, we could not be accomodated unless we ordered from your take-away menu. We are all in our 60's and being offered pizzas or cheesy chips falls well short of our expectations. we were at this stage all for leaving on the next day, our wives upset with the facilities given your remote location. Your reception staff will confirm. On Saturday, we had took the ferry and walked in to Oulten and made sure we had a substantial meal. We repeated this on Sunday, on both occassions having to use a taxi cab to return us back to your site, given we are all pensioners. At this point please understand we had no issue with the accomodation, two of us stayed in Earlsham lodge the other two in hotel. On the Monday morning, bearing in mind two of us are paying separately for breakfast, we were in for another bad experience. The 'chef' as your waiting staff described him, was no more a chef than me, but at least I can cook a full english breakfast ensuring serving at an even temperature. But no, we were treated to mixed cold and extremely hot food and toast that took over an hour to arrive (no exaggeration) being toasted on one side only. After spending 1 3/4 hours in your restaurant for breakfast, we could not wait to leave. Again, your reception staff were advised of our negative experience and we left under the assurance that we will be contacted by someone in authority. Again we were left dissapointed as no contact was made with us. We understood from your team that there were staff shortages but clearly if you are happy to take our money you are duty bound to provide the advertised facilites. I reiterate, we were all happy with the accomodation offered but we have all incurred additional costs in having to make alternative arrangements to eat in Oulten. If you were in our position as pensioners, we hope you agree we should be entitled to compensation as you have mis-represented the dining facilites on offer. Your catering staff were left with no managerial support to deal with problems as they occured. Over to you !!

Awful we stayed in the PENTHOUSE which you expect to be quality special and luxury what we got was dirty flush the toilet it floods the bathroom, kitchen was filthy fridge shelfs didnt fit in the fridge, kettle was covered in fat and oil and food splattered all over it bugs on the blinds patio doors look like they are falling off which could give someone with a bad heart a heart attack, patio/balcony flooded and dangerous, bedroom light over dressing table missing switch, no light on half the balcony. We stayed 1 night and refused to stay any longer, no WiFi as advertised. Just an awful experience on our 30th Wedding anniversary i did not expect to have to move to a different holiday resort will definitely not go back and will put my experience on my social media and the NHS forum

Staff were not rude but uninterested. They sounded miserable. The pod was dirty and uncomfortable. The showers and toilets smelt horrendous and we disgustingly unclean. This was not a COVID safe venue.

The site was on the whole ok however the pitch Kingfisher 1 that we were pitched on was less than satisfactory. At the time of the booking I did explain my wife was unstable on her legs due to a stroke and as such so she has limited mobility. The pitch was the furthest away from the toilet block and even further from the shower facility. The pitch was so uneven I was having to try and prop the step to make it stable. After a couple if days I found one of the crew cutting the hedges so I asked him for some gravel to try and make the step stable. He brought two small buckets which did the job for the step. When I asked for some more he said he could not get any more The rest of the pitch was very uneaven and you could not walk on it without shoes .... My wife could not walk on it at all unaided This ruined our experience at the site especially for the cost of the pitch... I have attached some photos showing the plastic hexagon pertruding. .. I would appreciate some feedback

Very disappointed with our stay in our caravan in August, bearing in mind we paid £50 per night for a fully serviced Kingfisher pitch. Reasons being: -Pitch was unkept-foliage surrounding pitch had not been cut back and the very small patch of grass within the pitch was full of weeds and was never cut! -The pitch was advertised as being able to accommodate a caravan, Awning and car, this was absolutely impossible. Also, directly in front of the pitch there was a road/track which was extremely dangerous for young children! -You are restricted as to where you could walk as there was no access to the riverbank outside of the site(which is not mentioned in the website)unless you take your ferry boat across the river at a cost of £3 per person! One of main reasons I chose the site was for fishing on the river, and apart from fishing off your Quay after 5:30pm and a tiny inlet where the best spot(Anglers corner was rented out as a private tent pitch!!) fishing was a non event. On your website it is not made clear just how hazardous and stressful it is to tow a caravan along a long stretch of single track road in order to get to your site. Although there are some passing bays, these are only appropriate for vehicles that are not towing! I have been caravanning for many years and your site does not offer value for many.

We were disappointed, the lodges overlooked each other so blinds had to be down all the time for privacy, the hot tub was lovely but again was not private. Really cross - Wi-fi, what wi-fi one of my main options for the holiday, 5 seconds if you were lucky does not count in my book as wi-fi. Down a long single track lane to the middle of nowhere, very disappointed teenagers!

Great location but let down by the lack of basic essentials and appalling customer service. We had modest expectations, especially as we had chosen a pet-friendly lodge and were initially impressed with its spacious interior. However we quickly realised that our luxury lodge would not live up to its description. The ample wardrobe space was useless without hangers, the fridge was missing a shelf making it hard to store drinks, the bathroom door locked itself if closed on exit so we had had to wedge it open to avoid being locked out and there were no comfortable outdoor chairs for relaxing and enjoying the view. There was also a lack of basic kitchen equipment such as mugs and glasses and we even had to buy a frying pan. But worst of all was the smell. The pungent stench in the master bedroom was sickening and seemed to come from the carpet. We put up with this for a couple of nights, using air fresheners and shake n vac. We then asked reception for help as it was ruining our holiday. The friendly lady on reception seemed surprised and assured us that they would sort out the smell and the faulty door lock. But nothing was done. So I submitted an online complaint to our Hoseasons booking agency and received an encouraging phone call the next day to advise that the site manager would be in touch. Unfortunately this did not happen and we were left feeling very disappointed. Such a shame as this could be a really nice place. With some care and attention to the holidaymakers' experience, these issues could be resolved with relatively minimal expense, but it seems that no-one could be bothered to invest the time to care.
