Lovely site and location. Just a couple of moans. My family stayed in 2 pods for 3 days , so needed fridge, was told communal fridge on site . No fridge only freezer. also Inn not serving evening meals only breakfast and lunches. Pods very basic so needed facilities mentioned. Would they stay again yes but not in a pod. Didnt want to drive anywhere being a short stay. Fortunately they had me as backup. We were in a campervan and managed to put the cold bits in our little fridge ot

We were really unlucky with tremendous storms and gales, being on Heron pitches we spent many sleepless hours concerned for our safety being under the huge poplars. Being on a muddy pitch wasn't ideal with two dogs either. Unfortunately, the weather being so bad meant it wasn't possible to enjoy the site's facilities and ended up heading to Lowestoft then Kessingland. Hopefully, we will be able to enjoy the site more on our next visit.

Lovely surroundings. Lodge needs some TLC.

It’s very tidy and remote and fairly modern however, the lodge we stayed in the boiler cut out so we had no heating for a while and the electrical fuse tripped so we were In pitch black . These are things which can be stressful and which you want to avoid while you are away . The staff were all friendly however, I wouldn’t stay again due to the issues we had.

Facilities very good, washrooms clean and tidy. Footpath to carpark from caravan area is treacherous at night , my wife fell down bruising her hands and hip. Problem is lighting is awful in the evening to get to the Inn. Reported to inn staff who didn't show concern .

Pub didn’t serve food this time and no options considering the amount of accommodation and river boats passing, disappointing. Pool only open till 4pm? Shop lacked any bbq food

Good holiday. Although a few problems. Not enough kitchen utensils. Heating very poor needed to keep putting pressure up on boiler. My sisters lodge dishwasher did not work. Our lodge a bit dated.

TV was missing from a room. Dishwasher draw was broken. Fridge was missing parts. Knives were blunt and broken, hard and dangerous to use. Table was sticky. Not cleaned very well as there was a snail on the curtains and the blinds were very dusty. Shame as it was a lovely place to stay. Restaurant was also very nice.

Firstly the room was excellent along with views over the marina. Also the bathroom facilities were again excellent. Just some points. 1) A small table and two chairs would have made the room even better. To be able to sit and look out over the marina while having a cup of coffee would have made the room perfect. 2) The lack of food was not made clear on the booking online form. It was only when I called to see if the booking had been received OK did I find out that we could not eat at the Pub Restaurant that day. We had planned to work all day on our boat at St.Olaves and travel to yourselves for a meal and a nights rest. It was fortunate I was able to make other arrangements. If I had known when booking I would NOT have booked. Your web site asked if we wanted an evening meal, I chose not to tick this as I was going to call an confirm anyway. 3) Your total reliance on the website is a problem for prospective customers. i) What if I do not have a computer or a smart phone. My wife does not have one and I only have these because of my business. Not everyone wants or has these and this is not considered by IT departments who when setting your web site are only interested in what they can make out of you. ii) If you are to relay solely on the website the it needs to have 24 hour continual updates. When I booked there was no information regarding the lack of food and that only a continental breakfast would be available. I could have booked and arrived without this knowledge and ig I had have done this I would have been extremely disappointed. Most people would be unaware of where to go to get food and to also have to drive the road to the marina in the dark is quite daunting. I hope my comments have been constructive and helpful. Just got home from a 4 day break at Waveney River. The lodge cabins are absolutely brilliant. Excellent Inside decor. Disappointed as the grounds garden areas un kempt. The Waveney Inn Pub absolutely awful meals. First impressions of the bar needed a good clean outside. Bar staff unwelcoming and felt as though we was an ninconvenience. Told they was busy for food but sat there for an hour and a half with only 6 people in and a empty pub. Having a good pub to go to would be a great asset to the site.

Clean room, great bed and bathroom. Only hand soap provided, no shower gel. Pleasant staff. Eating arrangements at the inn could be better but understand the staff shortage issue.

Clean site but very remote. We had the Aldeney Lodge and after staying in many lodges was a little disappointed. Lodge was very tired and if honest not cleaned up to the standard we are used to. ( Open some of the windows and look round the frames, and also the bathrooms in general ). Staff on site great and we used the day boats twice which was thoroughly enjoyed. Looking at other lodges on site and the pictures of the Marshside Spa we booked are a bit mis leading. The hot tub was great and apart from our slight disappointment with the lodge we had a good 4 break away.

Staff are excellent and friendly. Unfortunately the lodge (thorpe) and hot tub did not in anyway match the visuals on the booking website. The website showed a very nice hot tub on a balcony overlooking open countryside. None of the Retreat spa accommodation had such a layout. This could be classified as misleading advertising and create serious consequences. I will be taking this up with Hoseasons with whom I booked. Very disappointed the lodge did not match the one advertised. I do intend to take this further.

We stayed in the "Ellingham" and were really impressed with it. So new and well equipped, the only thing missing was placemats for the dining table. Lovely comfy beds and very clean Now for the negatives, i was very stressed on arrival having negotiated the single track road, and having asked if thst was the only way in, took the decision tp stay on park for the duration. However, on exiting this morning, I followed another car leaving and turned immediately left on albeit another narrow lane but with much more pull in places and grass verges with better visibilty. I am actually quite angry that we confined ourselves to the park on the basis of having to negotiate the single track lane. Even the gardener didnt say there was another way out. We hadnt brought enough food for the 4 nights and the shop was so poorly stocked, that wasnt an option, so we had to rely on family near Gt Yarmouth to bring food in! We went to the Waveney Inn one night and couldnt wait to get out. There was no warning that dogs were allowed in, so we had 2 on the table next to us barking, which is unacceptable when you could be allergic or scared of dogs and want a relaxing meal.. the food was overpriced for what it was and not very nice and despite knocking £4 off the bill, was still expensive for cafeteria food. As lovely as our lodge was and the view, there wasnt anywhere really to walk along the river unless we wanted to hop on the foot ferry, and we felt a bit trapped I wont for these reasons be recommending this place on Trip advisor

Waterside Spa - Arrival process simple and very helpful staff. All very covid safe. Lodge - looks and feels a little tired, flaking exterior and green decks, hot tub area is complete unsafe around edges and would be easy for someone to lose footing into the marsh. Isn’t overly private with only a Reed screen partially covering from lodge next door. Lodge has a particularly un pleasant odour, sweaty and generally unventilated, shag pile carpet didn’t help either clinging smells and it was dusty in numerous places. Pots and pans required cleaning before use. Fridge had a strange aroma. En suite bathroom mouldy around ceiling in shower. Double bed isn’t a full doubly mattress or certainly doesn’t feel it and doesn’t fit the bed base. Open plan is nice - all features worked they just were not clean. Lodge is overlooked by other lodges straight into kitchen windows and therefore felt you needed to keep them shut. Only 1 toilet roll provided, for 4 people across 3 nights stay, Overall wouldn’t recommend however in this covid climate it was a last option with availability.

Nice location but the lodge needs some TLC considering the price for the week. Stains on the bedroom carpets. Lipstick marks on the wine glasses and no egg cups. Very basic with just cereal bowls and plates. Area around the hot tub overgrown and patio furniture tired with burn marks on the table top. Luckily the location was good otherwise would have been annoyed at paying £1300 for this trip.

It would have been useful to know our pitch number before arriving. Also, when we arrived at Heron 4 there was no obvious hookup. No info from reception who were scratchy with me for asking.
