From the marketing I had read before our visit I was very much looking forward to our stay. However on arrival we drove through the site and was very dissapointed with the overall look of the site. The planted areas were left to grow wild and not cared for. Some of the lodges were unkempt looking giving the overall impression of a neglected site. We went into the shop which was really poorly stocked we wanted bread but there was none - not even the offer of part baked frozen bread which we would have been happy with. We felt anxious about what the lodge was going to be like inside however we were pleasantly surprised it was cleen warm and very welcoming and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. The hot tub was cold (which we were given notice of on arrival) but it remained cold the next day. We left the next day as we felt our holiday had been spoiled and we didn't want to be walking around such an unkempt area. I did call on our way home to report and I spoke to a lovely lady who received my feedback very proffesionaly 'if we dont know about it we can't do anything about it' was what she said and we appreciated that. We stay in lodges on sites regularly and we can say this is the worst we have ever stayed on. It is completely mis-marketed.

The grounds itself are lovely. Staff are wonderful. Lodge sadly wasn’t very clean, we found condom wrappers in the bedroom, unclean floor, hairs in the bathroom. The tv in bedroom was very small and only had radio on. Dressing table chair was very weak. Boiler stopped working in the evening so we woke up freezing and with cold water. We reset it and fixed it so luckily it didn’t take long to come back on. Hot tub was nice, couldn’t use it first night as needed to warm up. The headrests in hot tub were very worn and one was missing so couldn’t use one side. Very expensive for what we experienced.

We had 2 lodges, they were very expensive for what they were. One of the toilets moved when you sat on it and there was insufficient toilet roll. You were not allowed into the lodges before 1700 and had to be vacated by 0930 (too early and the staff literally stood outside the lodges as we were saying goodbye to our family at that time) to allow for deep cleaning yet the radiator in the lounge of one lodge was filthy and the kitchen floor had definitely not been ‘deep cleaned’. The inn closed at various times despite website info and so unpredictable. It also only had continental breakfasts at weekends (cooked breakfasts started from Tuesday(?)) when most guests had gone home. The emails sent prior to arrival gave completely contradictory information to the staff on site. I would not hire a lodge from there again.

I booked a stay in the Captains room for my birthday. I read some very good reviews including how good breakfast was. When we arrived we were told they were only serving continental breakfast which was not stated when booking or on the website. The room was beautiful but we had no idea that the only pub/restaurant needed to be booked in advance. We went to book a table and were told the only table was at 16.45 way to early for dinner for us. So we took the long drive away from the area for dinner. Again I would like to say that the room was gorgeous amazing bed lovely bathroom. We went to have the continental breakfast the following morning. This consisted of a choice of rice crispies or crunchynut cornflakes toast on request some waffles that were hard like bricks and some segments of oranges. The coffee was filtered and had been sat around for hours stewing. The bread they used for the toast was extra value cheap bread. We left hungry. We were planning to take the ferry across to the nature reserve but instead we drive away to find breakfast else where. Very disappointed indeed.

My experience staying at the broad view lodge wasn’t so pleasant. The following items doesn’t make this a child friendly lodge. 1. Cob webs from a few weeks at least inside and outside. 2. The on suite toilet seat had some blood and short hair. 3. Lack of lighting entering the lodge from the slip road. 4. Lounge floor wasn’t clean my partner had to Hoover then wipe the floor because of our baby. 5. The bushes were overgrown and dead leafs continuously falling in the hot tub. 6. The wardrobes haven’t been cleaned out there were clothes inside the wardrobes from before. 7. The on suite shower wasn’t clean properly. On the other hand it’s a nice and spacious lodge just needs a little maintenance and TLC. I would recommend to tarmac the road leading to the lodges and not hiding the pot holes with shingle it’s damaging the car tires.

This is our 3rd visit to Waveney river centre. We used to really enjoy staying in one of the yurts, unfortunately this time it wasn’t the case. We come to Waveney for the scenery and the peace and quiet to unwind and relax. We were only staying for two nights, the first night we were kept awake until 2am by the yurt next to us, a group of women drinking heavily shouting, singing, swearing and being abusive. They then went home in the morning, the second night we had another group of women move into the yurt on the other side who were again drinking heavily, swearing loudly until late. We were surrounded by families with young children, we feel that this experience has severely tainted our view of Waveney. The Waveney Inn which we have previously enjoyed has lost that something special it used to have, there was little to no atmosphere, the food although good we felt was overpriced quite heavily and with COVID restrictions still in place we were unable to fully relax and enjoy our meal. One of the things we were looking forward to was the use of the hot tub, but when we went to use the pool was told that the hot tub was not in use, there was no prior mention of this so it was very disappointing. Then we were informed that the changing rooms were also not in use which resulted in a very cold uncomfortable walk back to the yurt. We are very sorry to leave this review as we always held Waveney River Centre in high regard.

The accommodation was not to high standards by far, very tired looking the gas hob was not working most of the time, the outdoor area still had rubbish in it when we arrived, holes in walls, dirty kitchen wear, dirty toilets when we arrived! Also we pre booked breakfast on Sunday and there was no booking so they turned us away, this is our 3rd visit and we won’t be returning which is unfortunate because we like the location!

very nice place, found all staff very helpful. My main complaint is the size of the caravan pitches and the large hedges that surround them. The pitches are far too small for so called super pitches if you put an awning up there is very little room to sit outside. The hedges just attract insects especially earwigs which end up everywhere. I would not return unless the above problems where rectified.

Cabin ok inside but very overgrown and dirty outside. Wood rotten in places on the veranda. Site amenities very limited for opening times. Reception and shop both closed at 5pm. Waveney Inn had very limited opening times. Tried to ring them twice on the first morning for breakfast booking- no answer - went down to the Inn at 9.30 to be told bookings only and they were closing anyway due to kitchen staff shortages. Needless to say we did not visit the Waveney Inn again. We feel the holiday was greatly overpriced for what the site offered.

Been coming to waveney river centre for nearly 30 years, i feel the site could be looked after a bit better, little things that dont cost lots of money, sweep the decking at the pub put stain on some of the toilet doors, tend to the flower beds and cut back some of the bushes and remove weeds, would make a big difference for little money, simple things the site needs some TLC, dont think we will return needs to be updated, been to cornwall over the summer and the sites down there knock socks of this site.

Last visited 3 years ago very disappointed this time. Stayed in one of the penthouse’s, Overpriced for what we got. Absolutely no supplies , not even salt And pepper . 1 dishwasher tablet for 7 night stay ! No toilet roll No cleaning products. Beds uncomfortable, the double bed mattress had dropped on one side ! Sliding doors coming off the hinges, the one door shelf in the fridge was broken, other shelves had been removed . Great for fishing but would not stay again. Ice cream shack was closed, pub had no atmosphere and the shop only had empty shelves !

I have come to Waveney and brought friends for years. Also recommended widely. The site is lovely but I don’t think these charges are right for the facilities on offer so can’t recommend and unsure when to return. I wouldn’t want to come with the current set up and feel it was expensive for what was on offer. Could the pool not have been open until 7pm to accommodate more people and choice? Could the pool table not have been left open until later? The restaurant was mostly empty and lacked atmosphere and I didn’t note that it had reduced hours and lack of staff on any correspondence - rather book to avoid disappointment, as if busy, but actually that was guaranteed with the lack of resources . One of the highlights for us in coming here was a good quality gastro pub. I understand staffing was an issue this year but in view of that would reception not need more support/training. no one replied to a call for the reception about alternatives to eat. My friends had joined us for the day, driving an hour and sharing a boat- looking to book next year with 3 parts if their family and us and were not sure due to so much being closed/shutting early. Even the pool table would have been helpful. The staff were lovely each time in the bar and the young lady on the pool couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. The new shop looks like it will be nice but appeared expensive and lacked range. We hired a boat and a canoe and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I understand it has been a difficult time and we came last year during easing and felt everyone worked super hard to make it Welcoming but didn’t get the impression this time that they were being encouraged to do so. I do think the staffing issue needs to be looked at for your restaurant and what could be utilised while other facilities are reduced. It left the impression that the customer experience wasn’t important. The welcome in reception was not as usual on arrival. We were sent to the pool as they were helping out, previously someone was around the Motorhome arrivals to guide in . The pool lady was great as she was so friendly but my daughter at 15 noted a difference in lack of customer care and help with information about current services and what the alternatives were from the main reception. It wasn’t the best start to our stay.

Our first visit we were disappointed our Yurt was very tired and in need of being upgraded. Mould, blood stained inside, floor damaged. Wood burner flue rusted through. Outside area also needed a spruce up, benches dirty unkept & NO outdoor chairs as advertised. In lockdown these things should have been given a facelift or maintained. The bar and restaurant were understaffed. However reception staff were lovely as were the pool staff.

Disappointed Was told when booking couldn’t have 2 pitches together on arrival it was obvious this could have been arranged as either side of us were singular families who arrived after us Only managed to book 1 meal in restaurant No boats available to hire Shop under stocked and closes at 6 ! Why clean toilets at 8am ? This is when most people are getting up and needing them Staff disorganised Won’t be returning

Everything was first class, cleanliness, staff attitude, the room, were exemplary, except the food. The fish and chips were dry, the sausage and mash, too much gravy, the mash and gravy had formed a slurry, at breakfast two pancakes were like cardboard the third I could not cut, the knife was not sharp enough. What a shame when everything else was so good. I am not looking for a refund or discount, I did not want to hide behind the anonymous option. Bill Carmen

Monday July 5th to Monday July 12th Touring Pitch Kingfisher 6 Motorhome Overgrown, Faded Signage, Tired, & Outdated, and that was just the entrance The Waveney River Centre website says they are Covid safe, but with only eight unisex combined toilet / shower rooms and two family rooms available, cleaned only three times a day Monday to Friday, and twice a day on Saturday and Sunday and with 34 tent pitches, 6 Pods sleeping 4, and 7 Yurts sleeping 6, there are a possible 134 people at busy times using inadequate facilities , not including any people from caravans and motorhomes. We have always used the site facilities during our 15 years of touring, but my wife used our own shower for the first time on this site. If you intend taking a caravan or motorhome, then please make sure your manoeuvring skills are good, as the “passing places” on the 4.5 mile single track approach road are barely the width of a cars wheel and not very long, so be prepared to reverse. All pitches are small, very worn, with overgrown hedges and full of dead leaves. They are meant to be large enough to take a caravan, awning and car side by side – they are not. The Heron pitches are so dark with the overgrown tree foliage, I think they were using a torch during the day to see. The waste water point for our Kingfisher Serviced pitch was located in a concrete base about a foot higher than the pitch, and as water doesn’t travel uphill it proved useless. There was also no dedicated accessible fresh and waste water point for motorhomes, and we had to assist three other motorhomes with filling their tanks from our pitch tap. The Park shop was very sparsely stocked, mainly with the standard Norfolk gifts of shortbread, fudge and key rings etc. There were basics, plus of course Beers, Cider and cans of soft drinks but very expensive, a pint of milk was £1, and the freezer cabinets were almost empty. Staff informed us that if you wanted something to ask, as the Waveney Inn held the stock and sometimes forgot to fill the shelves. We had a meal at the Waveney Inn, arriving at 4.45pm to avoid the busy evening period. There were only two other parties in, and a very reduced menu. We only had fish and chips followed by a dessert, and left two and a quarter hours later due to poor service, and mistakes with our orders– don’t bother. The free Park Wi-Fi only worked around reception, with no signal anywhere else on the Park. We left a day early, on Sunday, and wont be returning.

Campsite is in a wonderful location but... The pitch for the tent was very rough and worn and had some quite sharp stones, and this was fairly early in the season. One visiting dog was not on a lead and yapped a lot one day and the worst thing is that the 10pm no noise rule was not taken any notice of and not enforced. was very noisy until midnight Good for young families, maybe. No good for relaxing quiet holiday.

Clean site overlooking marina. Paid for a supersize premium kingfisher pitch, but not suitable for caravan and awning (front of awning in bushes so couldn't open) road to and from centre is NOT suitable for towing Caravans it is a single track road with limited very small passing places. Facilities on site eg toilets and showers clean. Shop is overpriced and not well stocked. If we'd realised the pitches were so small and the very narrow road leading to the centre we wouldn't have booked. The centre should make people aware of the poor access route.

Unfortunately my review is not good. Although the lodge I stayed in inside was quite nice, outside it was not so good, the hotub was not in a nice place, overlooking plenty of weeds. The whole centre was very scruffy with large weeds everywhere and just looked liked it needed a good clean and tidy up. The picture of the lodges and overall centre online are nothing like what you see for real. The Waveney Tavern was terrible, again scruffy and quite dirty, we went there the first night expecting to get a drink and a meal at 7.00pm to be told that we could not have a meal as they did not have enough staff to cook the food !! So we had to go to Morrisons and cook for ourselves, not something you really want to do on the first night of your break! There is not enough to do at this centre, the swimming pool is small so we didn't even bother going you simply have to drive everywhere to get some entertainment. unless you want to go on the broads. Even the boats that you hire out looked grubby!! So sorry folks, for the money I paid I was not impressed and will be returning nor recommending to friends!
