“the staff that we met were very friendly and helpful. arriving at 4.00 on monday we found the shop poorly stocked (as previous feedback has mentioned) with only 1 small bottle of milk in the fridge and only 1 choice of butter/spread. pool only open for restricted hours each day. living area in lodge was very good but bedrooms tiny. access to site is poor , we found it a little too remote but would be perfect for those wanting to use the broads.”

“Rather worn facilities let down a very good location and package. Needs a freshen up and thoughtful maintenance. However, we enjoyed our stay with our small boat.”

“Pitches slopping & uneven which meant trying to level motor home with blocks & wife badly twisted her ankle in hole outside the door. View nice.”

“The place is quiet pretty ,the road in is horrendous, the penthouse we stayed in is dated ,lovely big rooms but so dated ,also the bed was awful ,I slept on the sofa and my husband slept on cushions on the floor ,maybe someone should try it. When we moved the sofa there was a crayon and stuff underneath that hadn't been cleaned ,Sorry not for us”

“We have visited a few times and enjoyed the pub and our lodge was great, however this year we felt the pub was run down (lack of staffing didn’t help). We also had an issue with the hot tub which we reported and were told wasn’t an issue however the issue continued and until we spoke to another member of staff it was finally fixed. Unfortunately we don’t think we would come back again unless there was some reinvestment in the pub/amenities”

“Sadly the restaurant was not open and I was not informed in advance so had to leave again to have dinner. The breakfast is not served early enough.”

“Spent 5 days at the centre camping. Pitches weren’t in good condition could of done with some work before we pitched on them. Was told we weren’t allowed gazebos or event shelters. Found that several people had them up on their pitches. Either allowed them or your not! I would normally put one up for extra cover as the weather wasn’t brilliant, but didn’t take as was told they weren’t allowed. Washing up area was very clean, but the water was always cold or Luke warm at best. Waveney inn pub wasn’t great for service. Had one drink which took 25 minutes to be served and we had to ask the waitress in that time was it coming. Ordered a second which never came and was never questioned when I gave up asked to pay for what we’d had. Wasn’t under staffed or overly busy. It was table service only, but they didn’t seem to want to come out from inside to serve unfortunately. Shower area was clean only downside wasn’t really enough showers as they were shower/toilet combined and were always busy. Hired Canadian canoes for the afternoon which were great fun also hired 3 boats out for a day trip which was brilliant. The guys that did the handover were brilliant good knowledge of the area with good advice where to head for to make the most of the day. Kids enjoyed fishing in the area from the quayside. People pulling parking boats up was nice as you always met someone different. Although a few did seem to think it was ok just to keep walking straight through pitches tent area when there was a clear pathway to follow around the tents. Lighting along the quayside wasn’t working and could do with some more fencing to keep people on the paths rather that cutting through. Overall good holiday enjoyed the site, worth trying once I’d say.”

“The campers next to us were using foul language late at night, the shop wasn’t very well stocked with basics e.g, meat/bread/fruit. The restaurant was difficult to get a table at and the pool was too chlorinated, it bleached our costumes and hurt our eyes.”

“Waveney river centre a nice place to stay, the food in the Waveney inn was average pub grub, the service was good. Our pitches were bare of grass and very dusty. The swimming pool could maybe have stayed open abit longer also the kids area where the machines are could have been also. The shop really didn’t have the basics on sale but had plenty of shampoo and hairspray! What staff was there was very helpful.”

“We had booked our pitch based on previous visits some time ago. The site has changed a lot over that time. In particular the pitch we chose was less protected than it had been previously which our pitch was at least ten degrees cooler and felt like gale force wind hitting us. This meant we could not sit outside our van at all. On arrival at reception they were closing at 6.30 despite us being told that afternoon that it was open until 8pm. I said immediately that our pitch was very open to the elements and we wished we’d known the changes in the site as we would have preferred an alternate pitch situated a row down. The receptionist said nothing just passed our information pack. It turned out that pitch was empty all weekend so we could have been offered the chance to move. After two nights we decided we’d had enough. So we will not be returning”

“The Centre is difficult to drive to down single track road. Once there though it is adequate. Needs a bigger, less expensive shop as it is a 25 minute drive to any kind of supermarket. The accommodation was clean and adequate for a holiday home. The WiFi and TV signal were poor.”

“We stayed in the Waveney Inn bedroom Ships Library. We visited with our family who had a lodge. Our room was very nice , a large comfy bed very clean, a nice bathroom with large shower. Our room was quite large with adequate storage. Tea & coffee provided and renewed each day, hairdryer and iron & board. We overlooked a small car park and the marshes. Swimming pool was warm and needed to be booked in advance which worked well. We ate breakfast each day in Waveney Inn a very restricted menu, however food was good needed to at least offer cereals or pastries, but guess the issue is staffing. Playpark is very small and on a slope, not ideal . Shop was open on very restricted hours and didn't stock hardly anything. Use the little ferry across, the walk on the other side is charming.”

“Lovely site, super staff and clean facilities. Disappointed with our escape pod though. Cramped and no hooks or shelves.constantly banging our heads on the top bunk as had to crouch all the time to get to our stuff. Quiet and cosy inside however. Lots of mosquitoes so take protection and bite treatment stuff. The last pod on the left has a steep slope outside, so impossible to have a table and chairs or cook outside. Playground right outside, terribly noisy. Signs say no ballgames, but there were daily games of football, hitting pods and once they hit someone’s barbecue, luckily cooking just finished. CarPark at bottom of hill, had to lug all our camping kit etc up, we are two ladies with physical limitations. No help available. Should make clear that it is not suitable for disabled as photos misleading, looks like level ground. Site a long way from civilisation along a narrow and long road, difficult for cars let alone motor homes. Passing places barely adequate. Overly views though and beautiful walk in wetlands on other side of the river. Kayaking much enjoyed by grandchildren.”

“Having never stayed at the Waveney River centre I was looking forward to it . I have to say for the money I was very underwhelmed. Yes we were only staying one night to in the AFT room as a short break. But this was going to be a taster of what the centre was like. I phoned weeks in advance to book a table for dinner as we had a long journey coming in & I got told no you were fully booked and short staffed so this meant I could not be accommodated. I got advised to go to a Beccles . Which we did but after a long drive only to then go back out along the country road was a pain & far from relaxing. The room was very clean & the beds were great but I have to say on checking in the reception didn’t have me on the “system” I used Booking.com & I feel communication was lost somewhere. We had a time slot for breakfast & when we came down. we were not booked in .(communication again) Breakfast was ok but very average. The rooms albeit clean need maintenance. The shower door was off the hinges & the hooks on the back of bathroom door were hanging loose .There was a hole in the wall with unfinished work around the radiator & the view was of laundry & staff area . I just think for £149 oh no hang on that’s what I should of paid but you added £2 for national trust without asking first !!! And I had to have a phone call after my stay to take the payment because surprise surprise you didn’t have all my details . Would I return ( probably not ) communication was shocking & I would need convincing to return Such a shame.”

“We camped on moorhen pitch 1, the pitch was very small we didn't have enough room for put tent and car on the pitch we had to park our car on the spare bit of grass opposite. First night was very noisy the guests next to us had family friends also camping at the sight they all accumulated at the pitch next to us and carried on making noise after 10pm I think they went quiet at approx 11pm when it started to rain. I also noticed the dog waste bin was over flowing and was not emptied during our 5 night stay, not very nice to look at from your tent. Toilets and showers were very clean and well maintained, lovely clean pool with a good booking system. Staff were friendly and helpful however the shop was bare, not like advertised couldn't get any essentials which is a shame as campers need fresh goods it could make a healthy profit. The restaurant was closed apparently no staff, not sure if this was due to covid or not? The location on the marina was fabulous for using our kayak and our children spent hours at the play area. With a little tlc it could be much better and we would return, but as it is we wouldn't recommend to our friends.”

“The time we spent at your site was important as we attended as a family in 4 separate groups, whilst the point I will raise do not serve detriment to staff , the are some elements on attention to detail that would improve the look of site and accomadtion. 1. Unit price £1500 for one week vs standard of accommodation - Curtain liners tired and grubby. Liner trim around internal door frame glass loose. Main bedroom bath/ on suite shower worn and signs of black mould that becomes imbedded in shower parts and will spread around shower it’s self and enclosure. Shower pressure good / but unregulated flow of hot water so it will fluctuate between hot and cold (this could have a potential risk factor ) and there could be a likelihood of some risk to a child if used as they would not be familiar with been able to control shower function . I would recommend a change if at all permissible. Blind above toilet has historic insect use as they are splatted against the material on blind. Also wall coverings in bathroom do have superficial stains that may mean a replacement or at lease a good cleanse. Also second bathroom has same tired look , silicone applied in places that is not professionally done again black mould visible in places. Oven difficult at times to fully understand the appropriate function as at times there was a delay in heating , again tired piece of equipment that may require and update. There exterior of the accommodation has a traditional look , that is in keeping with other units . However there is a tired and faded look that could do with a making good and at some point a good jet wash or replace such things as the handrails from a hse point of view there could or maybe a potential risk of an accident or injury due to a slip trip or fall as the rails are dated and worn and not 100% secure.”

“Good family site but a few points to make. Cleaning and stocking up of toilet paper was not done Sunday until early evening after a phone call was made. Why was this not done Sunday morning? Also car turning for yurts is not big enough and I would recommend making the decking corner rounded as 1 of our party has really dented the side of their car on the yurt decking. 1 other point is the electric points on heron pitches can be through another pitch and not all people have long wires so this should be advised on booking of pitches. But we did have a really lovely family holiday”

“We had a lovely week long stay at the Waveney River Centre but do feel that there were a few things that are missing from the site that could make it so much better. Firstly the pub on site, it is in a lovely setting but isn't always open, no Sunday lunches?! and lacked atmosphere even though the staff were all super friendly, could do with a bit of music being played in background and although the food was OK it didn't seem freshly prepared more heated up prepared meals and lots of items unavailable etc, freshly prepared food and a takewaway service for the campers/ lodges/ moored up boaters on site would be brilliant as no other food places available onsite - missing a trick here as most would love some sort of takeaway food in the evenings to save cooking - lots of campsites have food trucks visit some evenings which would be good option too.. Also the ice cream hut is not open and just a storage area - a shame as would be a great coffee/ snack place and in height of summer season could have made a killing. The map shows a takeaway pizza place near the pool but it doesn't exist. We were on the Bittern pitches and did feel the yurts opposite were right on top of us but wouldn't put us off staying again. The shop was a bit sparce and could have had a few more bits for cooking dinners etc. All of the staff on site were super friendly and helpful which was really nice!”

“Fantastic campsite with all the amenities you need, great playground for the kids. Unfortunately the food at the Waveney Inn does not meet expectations. They forgot some of our order and the food that did come was burnt, no discount offered for forgetting meals.”
