I was offered by Catawiki in a relatively low price of an 18k white gold diamond pendant in devil teddy bear shape. I confirmed my purchase at 6:23pm (11:23 CET) of 6 January 2021. The deadline for such was 21:13 (CET) of 8 January 2021. Since I found I could not pay, I informed Catawiki at once, on 6 January 2021. Proof from my attached picture/s. Catawiki blamed me that I missed the deadline. They adduced no evidence to support their allegation. However, last time I found that even after paying for the winning lot, they didn't post it to me but had the same item resell on auction in the following Friday. There was an intended purchaser who won in a higher price. I am Whether it was the real reason for not posting to me? This time, they alleged with no evidence that I missed the deadline and refused to sell me.

I spend high dollar amount on this site on the weekly bases for my watch business. Most of the watches come not properly working which is not described! There is no help from Catawiki. NO buyer protection whatsoever!!! Paid over $1000 for the watch that was delivered somewhere else. Seller is not responding. Catawiki is not helping at all!!! DONT EVER BUY THERE!

After receiving a substandard Seiko watch which Catawiki said had been properly checked, I reported to them that the watch had failed both mechanically and in assembly. The watch face had fallen out after 2 days. and the thing stopped after 3 weeks never to go again. All Catawiki did was tell me to contact the seller, which I did, twice, with zero result. Catawiki just take your money with no ongoing responsibility for the item they have sold. DONT BUY FROM THIS SITE.

A website run by scammers. The 'experts' barely know a thing, make decisions based on PHOTOS and the website asks crazy ammounts of commissioncosts (for buyer and seller)! Helping costumers or sellers? NADA! Stay away!

The "experts" of the fossil section are unable to identify fake items, and forgeries or cheap reconstructions plague their entire catalog. Species are misidentified, and almost every entry is labelled "museum quality" or some non-sense along those lines. This is to be expected on eBay, but not on a supposedly curated site. The recommended prices are always ludicrous, most of the time over triple the real market value. Not too surprising considering the hefty commissions Catawiki charges. They try to artificially drive up the price. Incidentally the items with jacked-up price estimates tend to be of the same sellers. Interpret that as you will. Shipping fees are absurd. Small items located in a city 100km away which could be shipped insured for 5€ have shipping fees of a minimum of 18€, and frequently into the 30s. Catawiki operates more like a mafia than a curated auction house. Please do not take their curated information by face value. Make sure the price is fair and that the items are authentic.

What an experience with Catawiki. Just bad. Send in 3 lots, being postage stamps MNH, full year 1952, it was refused because I asked a minimum price. Another lot with numbers 36 and 37, the experts say that there were doubts about the authenticity. However, bought them through Kaiser, the reference for certificates. Another lot were minerals and this lot was refused without explanation. All lots are sold through 2nd hand and eBay. Costs 0.11 euros per advertisement. Moral of the story: There are so-called pseude experts who are playing lottery. These are probably people who do not know anything about their business. The biggest criticism, however, is the auction cost. Can you imagine that the seller pays more than 15% and the buyer pays almost the same amount. To me this is a pure scam.

Experts don't know anything and allow fake materials on the site. Then even if the seller is cool (which mine was) catawiki won't get back to buyer or seller to resolve the cancellation of the sale. STAY AWAY.

Catawiki has expert curators noted for each sale, but they rarely give an opinion. A few cases of this, but one that stands out was an Indian made mother of pearl inlay box that is mass made and you can buy from any shop in India online for 10 euro, but seller had listed as an antique Belgium box from the early 20th century. They suggest a level of expert review by placing the bios of the related experts below the item, but of course only if there is a provided estimate has a review occurred. It is an attempt to add an unconfirmed legitimacy to the claims or value of the item. AND, If you have any issue at all, it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach them!

If Your chargeback is not accepted by Catawiki---instruct a refund from your card company and back it with a claim under sales of goods act section75...common law... Credit card companies are jointly and severable liable to you and your loss. Do not let these appaling/embarrassing people scam you ---the results in ALL THESE NEGATIVE reviews are criminal...take action for yours and others sake...do not be trated with comptent Remember my wine from the merchant in Lyon Cave Allie called me stupid for buying the wine-5 others bid and my pre-investigation at the Vineyard shows well-kept wine of the make and year sell /drink well up to 20 years older than my purchase.. A Main london dealer stocks it -1986n same year and recommends it...shows the blind ignorance of the dealer...! He should hang his head in shame...last time I looked it was on his retail wine list.(?very strange as in one of his pompous rants he says he only had 1 x 12 case...???)..god help his customers...

High shipping fees, not reliable experts, seems that the experts put high prices on a list of sellers which is relatives of their own. Fake prices. I have seen fake items or items sold twice with the same photos. No reaction despite my intervention. They accept cheating by not doing anything. Only buy gemstones with a GIA or IGI certificate (which I did). It somewhat saved me from fraud.

Catawiki experts have their friends, relatives and Top sellers whom their favor. They don't really accept new sellers and they give you no chance. I was trying to sell some genuine sheepskin rugs but they won't allow it, although there are tons of sellers who are selling the exact same thing. But your sheepskins are worth nothing and "they are readily available" while other can sell theirs and everything works fine for them. As a new seller you have no chance of selling your items. There are Top sellers who have 40 necklaces on auction in one week, while you can call yourself lucky if they approve one item on auction per month. You invest all your money in merchandise, merchandise you cannot sell because you are not in the expert's good graces. Lousy experts, lousy customer service, lousy website.

Pretty much fat cats overpricing cheap goods and then protecting themselves ! A real example ? I bought a wrought iron garden stand for euros 250. It turned out not to fit where I wanted to use it. I tried to sell it again but was told I was not allowed to put a reserve on it and it was not worth the value. Great site for real quality !

catawiki is a real organization, the experts theoretically cannot sell the objects but not practically under other accounts of relatives and friends. it is not explained why the experts Esposito and trevor auctions of minerals .metaphysics etc. always approve everything more than 50 to a seller items being a private individual and to you maximum 2 three it is not about quality are the same items example black opal yours is not approved and that of a seller always "HIGH QUALITY OPAL" esposito and trevor do not know that smoked opal cannot be high quality experts of what? black opals are rare and those who own them certainly certify them. tell them to the experts and then if they are the same objects why to whom do they and others not? is the judgment of the experts unquestionable? or is it a real organization ......... the next review will show you the real cost which at most does not exceed 20 dollars.

It is a big scam. Items are sold and appear the best day again...which is odd if it supposed to be antique. Second, while I had bid the highest on one object and the time went to zero....nothing happened except that two minutes were added and other were bidding. I am glad I deleted the App. If I want to buy something nice, I buy it in a shop.

Absolute bunch of crooks especially so-called auctioneer-tacakiwi. Avoid and stick to honest auctioneers like ebay and the Saleroom. When and not if a problem arises they hang onto your money and refuse to answer emails over weeks. When you legally ask AMEX to oppose the charge, Catawiki immediately and automatically suspends your account still refusing to reply to mails. The question below asks how quickly does Catawiki reply to emails and no option of never so 'over a week' ticked!!AVOID CATAWIKI- interesting that my servers in France refuse me to connect to catawiki.com or .eu with 'access denied' as considered it seems not an acceptable site/service in France. Catawiki started OK but now just wants the cash.
