Bought an item from Holland. Received in 2 weeks but completely different item, not what I paid for. The same day I have done some pictures (item, package, labels), send messages and pictures to the seller and to Catawiki customer services. Wanted to return the item and have my money back. The seller doesn't respond, Catawiki investigated the case another 2 weeks, then they made a decision in seller favour. What a horrible experience. Avoid this site.

there seems to be little control as to the sellers information , the suggested price is a total farce , the watch I purchased is so obviously cheap rubbish which I paid approx £300.00 , the site said up to 550 euro my valuation nearer £50.00 , the leather strap has broken after once worn , the watch has been used although the sticker on the back was still on .Without a photo no one is interested , cannot take this as am nearly blind.Do not use this site as they accept any rubbish. DISGUSTING KEEP AWAY AS PRICES ARE FALSE

It is a pity I didn't take take time to find reviews on CataWiki before placing a bid. This is a site where one gets the idea that everything is reputable. There is a picture of an expert. One gets the idea that the products are checked by that expert. After my experience now I would say all fur coat and no knickers. After my negative experience with CW I asked to speak to that expert. They say I can't. In theory it is possible that the so called experts don't even exist. I made a bid on a violin which on arrival showed a fatal flaw. The neck is at a wrong angle so it is only playable if an expensive repair gets done. The seller claims ignorance 'selling for a friend' but was knowledgeable enough to not show the flaw on the photographs. This makes the item unfit for purpose. He didn't want to accept a return and CW claims the item was as described. CW answers calls and emails but to no satisfaction and so far I have not spoken to an expert, but I did notice that they now have a different expert for violins since my purchase in February. Do not buy with this bunch as pigs in pokes are waiting for you.

Beware if you are a seller due to what could be questionable practices. Catawiki takes it on its self to frustrate contracts when it so decides, even though they make it quite clear that there is no contract between anyone and Catawiki, solely between the buyer and seller. Where I come from this is at best sharp practice, if not unlawful. So I would recommend anyone who has suffered a financial loss through Catawiki seizing monies lawfully due to the seller from other sale contracts because of such contract cancellations, to report a possible theft via the Dutch police website.

Unfair and ridiculous to sellers which are small and honest. The 'experts' make us reduce our items to pennies in order to approve them. Complaints about shipping costs until we ask for less than it will cost us to ship and be insured. Ridiculous.

total fake. bid on a coin and then spotted that the coin is a fake. Informed the Auction and guess what they said - still buy it if you win and then we will discuss the options. TOTAL JOKE! do not waste your time with these people

As a seller, when you get a buyer that does not take delivery (tracking shows an attempt to deliver) the item eventually gets returned by the shipper and then the poor buyer says he doesn't want to complete the contract and wants it cancelled. Catawiki immediately give in to the buyer and cancel the sale without the seller's express consent, then says the seller is responsible for refunding the cost of shipping and of the sale price. There you have it; if you're a buyer and change your mind, don't answer the door to the delivery man and you will get all your money back, leaving the seller to pick up the tab. WHAT A CON!!!!

I have two experience that the sellers do not send the item. It is very difficult to contact catawiki for refund. The first, I made an oversea call which was expensive. The second time, I am still waiting for catawiki response. My order is 12134349. Please help. No confidence in this auction site.

Catawiki is an unrelible and unresponsive auction site. I had a problem with a seller not delivering an item as advertised. The seller agreed entirely to my claim but Catawiki sat on the funds and has not even answered my messages or emails. If you are a buyer you have very little protection. Steer clear. Stick to Ebay.

I have purchased three item, watches, and am awaiting the fourth to arrive, I am very supicious as the fourth was a low price and no other bidders !!! However I used my credit card so have some protection. DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU USE A CREDIT CARD. I have one piece that was described as in good condition, it doesn't work ! Please be aware they appear to sting you with the exchange rate, on a 522 Euro deal I was charged ove 16 Euros, (£14) above the standard exchange rate. I see some items selling for 15,000 euros, I would be very cautious on this. Having compared prices of exclusive Swiss watches to some Pre Owned watch sites, the prices on this aution site are very similar, which means NO BARGAIN, but high risk. I recommend you use reputable sites, I think this Catawiki is like early Ebay, where many crooks are selling fake, stolen or just rubbish items they cannot sell legitimately. Conclusion, high risk, Definately not expert valuations and no bargain.

It is very embarrassing that Catawiki is a Dutch platform. I am Dutch, but I live in Italy. They treat me so bad, you cannot imagine! My husband he is a lawyer and his opinion is that everybody should avoid Catawiki.

AVOID CATAWIKI AUCTIONS LIKE A PLAGUE: FAKE ARTIFACTS, FAKE CREDIT VOUCHERS, LIES, THEFT, a stain on my beloved Holland!! On Sep 17, 2018, I won an auction for an Abelam figure. It was listed as having "Striking Pigmentation" [sic] by Arend de Grave. Moreover, de Grave committed a grave offense by dramatically raising contrast in his photos to back his lying description. See de Grave photo (left) and my photo in natural light (right). CATAWIKI's Foreign Relations Manager, Luke Dench "RESOLVED" the problem by issuing me a partial refund of 500 euros in the form of CATAWIKI credit vouchers. Guess what? THE VOUCHERS WERE FAKE TOO!!! I won two items at $2006 and tried to use these #$%^* vouchers - and they were FAKE! In early December 2018, CATAWIKI's Samantha conofirmed that the vouchers did not work and advised me not to pay $2006 for a few days while CATAWIKI fixes or replaces vouchers. Imagine, now 6 WEEKS LATER, they did not fix the vouchers., Moreover, in early January 2019, CATAWIKI blocked me from their auction for following Samantha's advise and not paying!!! CATAWIKI Experts do NOT see items, they judge them by photos, and when photos are "fixed" by de Grave, experts cannot give honest description of artifacts. SO, Catawiki sells lots of faked artifacts, fakes its own credit vouchers, and does NOT reply numerous please to come honest. Thus, AVOID CATAWIKI LIKE A PLAGUE! SPREAD this message, protect fellow collectors from dishonest dishonorable lying CATAWIKI. Such a stain on Holland, the country I love!

The head auctioneer is a seller herself Iris Hendricks in Jewellery sells her Jewellery on the site and she vets sellers. It’s nepotism . Only Dutch sellers (some Spanish) The control of vendors by the auctioneers is defiantly suspicious. They control the whole business model .
