“I purchase total four times from Etsy. First 2 were nice experience besides the waiting time. But two times in August... I was scammed out of over $300 Canadians. The items never arrived. The sellers basically just stopped communicating. All Eyst help center does is to tell me to contact the seller or open the case. If you can't resist purchase from Etsy. Use PayPal for some insurance. You might get a chance to recover the payment if something goes wrong. Or prepare to lose your money. It sucks👎.”
“Low sales equals involuntarily closing your shop. Suspending account. I would use it to brand myself to my independent website and not pay Etsy. Terrible business model. This is why eBay still exists.”
“Etsy are thieves! My store was shot down with no explanation given, the customer service won’t talk. All the pending orders had been fulfilled and delivered with no issues and it’s been 5 months since Etsy has not sent me the payoff for those orders!
If you’re the Etsy seller- beware! You’re nobody to this company! They make commission from your sales and don’t bother to treat you like a human.”
“Etsy closed my shop without notifying me. When I contacted them, I was told my account is suspended due to policy violations. They couldn’t explain what I violated. With that being said they letter sent me an email stating my account is deactivated and I am not allowed to open up another shop. I emailed them several times regarding a profit I made because I shipped out an order to a customer and they never give me the money I made. I also purchased a shipping label from them and they never refunded me my money upon request for cancellation. I’ve read this is happening to so many people and it has to stop. This is not right! DO NOT SELL ON ETSY! THEY ARE THIEVES & HAVE ZERO CUSTOMER SUPPORT”
“I'm Etsy seller, my satisfaction level is gone more than -1 Billion % down where etsy has no seller support, no customer services, deduct only false and unreasonable charges from seller, making making company, Seller and Buyer both are not satisfied, huge fee of etsy ads and listing charges, i'm running etsy shop from last two year and made only 3 sales where i paid etsy more than my profit earned here, there are endless negative point and fault on etsy looks like spam or cheater company.
Note- suggesting all the etsy seller before opening etsy shop kindly keep 1000$ in your pocket to give to etsy, I challenge you won't make money here, you'll lose your pocket 1000% guaranteed
Thanks,”
“Etsy is the worst company to deal with! If you have a problem you can get through the first tier of representatives. The customer service rep will pretend to help you but the reality is you need to escalate the case and continue to call everyday and even then nothing happens because there is no live voice for escalations just email.
It is not until you engage your credit card company that Etsy will respond as then it is to tell you they cannot respond because you called your credit card company….
Very bad experience and I would give less than one star if I could!”
“Never receive purchase, file complaint and Etsy closes it as soon as you file, label it as resolved when in fact it’s not, nothing but rip off company”
“Unfortunately, I was one of the ones caught up in the fake furniture selling racket on Etsy. What a nightmare. BEWARE! Also, Etsy provides little immediate support for customers who have been scammed. You MUST call your credit card company and reverse the charges IMMEDIATELY. Please, learn from my mistake. Don't wait on a resolution from Etsy.”
“I received an item with a poor quality from an Etsy seller that it’s an health hazard. I wanted to return the item and get a full refund but the seller didn’t want to pay for the return postage. Major online shopping platforms like ebay and Amazon give full refund and return postage if the item is the seller’s vaulty. So I opened a case and reported the seller to Etsy. But Etsy did nothing. I ended up paying $70 for a return postage to get $220 refund. So beware if you shop at etsy. Their don’t have buyer protection for refund, return and substandard quality items.”
“I browsed the site once. Decided NOT to buy anything. However, I now have 9 unauthorized charges on my credit card and customer support is ignoring my e-mails. Two vendors are responsible for somehow hacking my credit card information and using it to charge purchases on my credit. I usually purchase from sites that take Paypal and I always keep my online purchase receipts and order number in an online shopping file. I know I did not purchase from this site as Paypal is NOT accepted. They have not been helpful in resolving my issue.”
“I purchased an item through Etsy and the goods never arrived . I contacted Etsy and was literally told get lost . The seller did send the items and if it is lost or made an error we can not do anything . I lost over $150 . Please be aware when dealing with this company .”
“Waited 4 months for my coffee table. Wood cracked and joints came apart 4 weeks after delivery as wood dried out. No response to complaints. BUYER YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. LOOK AT THE OTHRR REVIEWS BELOW. NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!”
“They refused to accept my bank account info, and kept saying over and over that they couldn't use it, please input different info... My banking info has been the same for the past 31+ years.
On top of that, they didn't list the thing that I was selling. And then they had the actual audacity to charge me for the listing. WHICH THEY DIDN'T EVEN PUT UP BECAUSE I COULD PUT MY BANK ACCOUNT INFO IN.
I'm refusing to pay that dumb listing charge. I don't care if it is only 20 cents; I'm not going to pay for something that they literally couldn't even be bothered to list, even when they said that they would!”
“You don’t want to sell on Etsy. If you’re an Artisan or Craftsman and make a product, and you what to work from home and sell online to make a little extra money or subsidize another income, look elsewhere to sell. It’s a bait and switch gimmick. When you first start they give your items good placements in search and advertise your items. After you’ve done well for some time they drop the ball. I started selling on Etsy in 2012 and my sales increased every year with 2018 being my best. Then in June of 2019 Josh Silverman announced that Etsy would be cutting back on Google Ads in an effort to get sellers to pay for more ads. Since I had never paid for ads before and was selling all I cared to make I didn’t think I needed Ads. That’s when my sales crashed and continue to drop. My sales for the second half of 2019 were 23% of the same period for the previous year. And that’s long before COVID-19. When Etsy didn’t get the participation they wanted they implemented the Off-Site Ad program. Shops that have ever sold $10K in any 365 day period pay an additional 12% on every sale brought to them by Etsy through a Google, Instagram, Facebook, etc ad. Shops under 10K pay an additional 15% , but have the option to opt out of the program. But I opted out and I’m not getting sales. The fee is in addition to the already sales fee of 5%. That’s 17-20%, and it is charged against the whole transaction (item price + sales tax + shipping cost ) and then there is the processing fee of 3%. When figured against the item price only for some it can be as much as 25-30% or more. You may want to consider this if you are thinking of selling on Etsy. It is obvious to me that if I don’t buy into the program I won’t be able to make it on Etsy. My item is time consuming to make and I can’t give up that much money to advertise fees and if I raise my prices I can’t compete. I once made pretty good money selling on Etsy to subsidize my S.S. Now my Etsy shop is dead. I’ve been reading the Etsy forums for some years and since this Off-Site Ad program started I’ve seen many shops close and are no longer with Etsy.”
“Etsy charges sellers exorbitant fees and commissions but treat their sellers like TRASH. Seller support is a joke. They take forever to respond, if they even do, and trying to work out a shop suspension can drag on for weeks because you are lucky if you get one reply every other business day. They have no phone support unlike amazon seller support, and their canned response mentions how they get so many support requests that responses will be delayed. Well, hire more support staff! What are our fees paying for?? And yes, your shop can be deactivated with no explanation whatsoever. They'll claim an email was sent, but their email system routinely does NOT send out important emails to sellers. Just a horribly run company and sellers should avoid at all costs.”
“I ordered a swet shirt I paid for it and I never received it, I tried so many ways to contact them with no luck, they have stolen from 33.00 I know is not that much but imagine from how many people they have stolen, this is a scam”
