This company is a SCAM indeed.... I have booked a car from Avis Thailand through their portal (rentalcars.com). I was given a below standard and dangerous to drive car for the duration of my rental. The undercarriage was totally destroyed and had been fixed with cable ties (car was in an accident previously and they had not informed me at pick up). Of course, it broke down again while I was driving halfway through my trip. Ended up not being able to use the car for 3 days, until I find a way to fix it myself, being in the middle of the Thailand countryside, 1h drive from the nearest town with a garage. I have informed Rentalcars.com of the incident, they did not seem to be concerned about it and told me to open a claim after I return the car. I opened a claim on their website after returning the car, asking for compensation, they closed it after 4 hours, "thanking me for the feedbacks and for helping them improve their service". I have opened back the claim, ever since no one replies to my messages, no one gives a damn about the case. Their customer service is non existant. If all goes OK during the rental, good for you. If not, just now they will not give a damn about you as soon as they take your money. Better think twice before renting a car through third-party agents like them. They absolutely do not care about customer service. Just there to take the money and cash in their commission with the rental companies. For the rest, you can just get lost... Runaway as far as you can from this company, presumably part of booking.com group...

Looks like I'm not the only person to think this company is a scam, huh? Attempted to rent in Cancun. Even purchased insurance through them. Got to the Europcar facility and they denied my insurance. Also denied my Chase Sapphire Preferred card auto coverage insurance, and expected me to purchase their insurance that would cost me double the car rate. That was obviously a scam by the Mexico Europcar company. I cancelled the rental after picking up a car from a more reputable company, and filed a claim with both rentalcars.com and my credit card company. I never heard from rentalcars.com, but my credit card company sent me a very detailed explanation why they expected me to pay the charge, even though I didn't use the car. They have no idea what a bored, retired engineer can do with his copious amounts of screen time. If I don't get the money back, it'll be $250 US of "entertainment expenses".

We hired a vehicle with premium insurance. We arrived at Easirent, waited over an hour, to find out we were a document short. The staff were unhelpful and irritated that they were working on NY day. After another 45 mins, the irritated staff member told us to leave, he had cancelled the order and I must request a refund. We had to get a 70 pound cab to our destination. Called Easirental to lay a complaint and our money back, they advised that only Rental Cars can give refunds. We called Rental Cars who after back and forth said we must apply after the booking time has lapsed. We did just that and now they advise that we can't have a refund because they "didn't know we weren't going to collect the car." We arrived to collect the car! We were denied a car! We called to inform them and waited to file a refund as instructed! Absolutely terrible company!!

I booked a rental car at the Saskatoon airport through Rentalcars.com. When I arrived at the counter I was told there were no cars available . When I asked them to issue a credit to my credit card I was told I had to contact the head office. They refuse to give me a refund because the pick up time was 10:00am (my flight arrived at 12:30pm).They said I was a no show and refuse to give me my money back! DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!

Hi, I rent a car for two days in Croatia. Picked it at Zagreb and dropped it at Split. Supposed to get 80euro charge for one way fee by rental company (SIXT). I got charged by Rentalcats.com as well. one of agents confirmed they charged me for rental fee, but none of the accept to refund this double charge. Send tons of emails and calls but no result. They deny to give a detailed invoice. Cheers Double charge for One way fee

Hello everyone After such an experience i was wondering that i must share this so that a maximum of people is aware. I booked a car for 3 weeks and when i went to the desk to get the keys, the agent refused all my credit cards including a business card that i have always used for deposit purpose. He said in our conditions we accept only credit but not debit cards. I asked him then to cancel and he said ok, it is cancelled. I needed to move asap because i had an appointment so i went to another company and took another car. Two days later i found out that the booking was still ongoind on rentalcars and When i contacted them, they said they didn’t receive any cancellation and they cannot do anything… i asked them to cancel the booking, take cancellation fees and refund me the rest they said sorry there is nothing we can do ! I tried multiple calls and emailed different services but they still say the same thing. This is really pathetic, Rentalcars are not capable of helping even a loyal customer who has been using their services for years. From now on i will use renalcars only as a comparator and then book directly from rental companies.

Their customer service is really bad, booked car with unlimited mileage coverage, but the rental site only gave me limited mileage coverage since I was booking from third party website. Even I provided all the evidences, the rentalcars.com customer service still deny their wrong doing with such an obvious thing and not take any responsibility, the business practice is apparently kind of fraud.

Paid $685.48 for NOTHING. I rented an automatic car, but when I arrived at the airport, the guy from Boycar company provided a manual car, lower class. Don't ever use rentalcars.com or boycar company. They scam customers. I tried to refund my money via rentalcars.com support, but after a few months, they said they can not help me.

This company will steal your money. Brazenly and without any remorse whatsoever. We booked a rental car with them at the ABQ airport. When we showed up they had no car available, forcing us to rent another car with another vendor for 3x the cost. As if that wasn’t bad enough, these scum bags refuse to provide us a refund, claiming that we showed up “late” to pick up the car they admittedly couldn’t provide. Awful company. Pure scam artists. Let anyone who will listen know.

616097095 I received an email from rentalcars.com this morning titled: Important information about your rental. Simply put they wanted to let me know the following: We’re just writing to tell you that Thrifty at Christchurch Airport have changed their name to Ezi Car Rental and are no longer part of the Thrifty Group. In the email they gave me the option to cancel so I decided to take up the offer of cancelling the car rental and here's what it said in the email about how to do this: Simply go to ‘Manage booking’ at the top of our website and cancel your car rental booking. To make sure you get a full refund, please select ‘Trip cancelled’ and put "NZ202112" in the box underneath.(If you see a message about a cancellation fee, don’t worry – as this is a special case, we’ll refund the cancellation fee as well.) After I cancelled, I received a partial refund and then contacted customer service to ask when the remaining amount was coming? You would think that was a simple request?. Unfortunately not. I have spoken to over 10 people so far in all the available contact points (chat, email and over the phone) and every single one of them have told me that I am liable for the cancellation fees and if I want to dispute it I have to call Thrifty!!! How can a company email me and tell me one thing and then the customer service people tell me something completely different? This is the worst service I have EVER experienced in my entire life. I feel like a liar even though I have written communication from then stating "Not to worry"!!! THE ABSOLUTE WORST ORGANISATION IN THE WORLD TO DEAL WITH!

We prebooked with them for a car in Italy, which was not available once we got to the rentals place. They offered us a broken dirty car with trash inside and did not refund us for the price we paid for a different brand. Their service is to say the least suboptimal, they are not trustworthy and I highly recommend NOT to rent with rentalcars.com EVER.

We are in a worldwide pandemic. Ireland is once again shutting down on their fourth surge. We have changed plans and well be leaving the country early. This scam company refuses to understand. You all can rent from them but we will never make this mistake ever again. Not only was this a first and last use but I will forever have nothing good to say about them. I wish O could leave minus stars!

Worst service ever. The rental company did not accept my (valid) driving license, and I had to book a new reservation with different driver. After having explicitly confirmed to us that the first booking would be canceled and refunded, they never processed such refund despite many attempts on our side. Just ridiculous, I will never use them again.

Scam!! Booked online for 3 months in the future - site said nothing would be charged so I thought cc info was to hold the reservation but they charged the entire amount. It also said free cancellation but the button doesn’t go anywhere, just refreshes the page. Emailed and no response. Called and the number is FAKE! Could not contact anyone! Called my bank immediately to dispute charge.

Up all night on Flight to Milan Italy. Arrived to find out that the trains were on strike. Emergent need for a car to make an appointment in Florence. Used Rentalcars.com to shop rates, but advertised price confusing. Hit accept rental only to find out that a huge amount of taxes and a totally unexpected $100 drop off fee were added to the advertised price. When I saw the receipt with total price, I immediately canceled the reservation (the emails accepting the car rental and the cancellation are literally 3 minutes apart). Rentalcars.com is now charging me a $143 cancelation fee! C'mon man, that is predatory and unnecessary. Real cost to your company is $0, And no regular company could get away with treating its customers like that and stay in business. Just because you don't have in person relationships with your customers does not mean you should not treat them with charity and respect. Is that really how you want to make money?

ZERO stars! Scamming people! Reserved a car for 3 weeks, went to pick up the car and I was told I cannot pick it up because they did not accept US Drivers License (laws changed in Europe). Tried to cancel the reservation immediately, and they basically made it impossible. Basically $1,300 of my hard earned money went bye-bye to a rich corporation. Paid this amount, to not even touch the car and spent endless hours in phone calls, and disputing the claim without any success. I will never, ever, ever rent a car from this company!
