I was visiting my Grandchildren in Bexleyheath, Kent. We were shopping when my young Grandson said, “Grandad, can I show you a chain I am saving up for?” “Sure,” I replied. So, there was I with my two young Grandchildren, looking at the chains through the window of Warren James, as my Grandson excitedly pointed out the exact chain he wanted. Suddenly, a female worker came out of the shop and said in a really aggressive voice, “Can you get away from the glass - I’ve just cleaned it!” We were all absolutely gobsmacked at her attitude and apologised, as we were unaware that we were even touching the glass. As if that wasn’t bad enough, she then rudely reached across the front of us and began cleaning the glass as we continued to 'window shop.’ I emailed Customer Services at Warren James, requesting for my complaint to be escalated to the CEO's Office. I received the following (unsigned) reply instead! Thank you for your email I am sorry that you felt the need to complain, but am grateful that you have taken the time to do so, as a nationwide Jeweller we welcome our customer’s comments and suggestions whether they are complimentary or not so positive. At Warren James we take relationships with our customers seriously and I am disappointed to hear that you were not satisfied with the service you received from the staff at the Bexleyheath store Your comments regarding your visit will be passed on to the store manager. I emailed back as follows: - Could you please ensure my complaint as a whole, is escalated to the CEO's office, for intervention. To be verbally attacked by this awful woman is totally unacceptable and I would be extremely grateful if (as originally requested) my complaint could be escalated. I would also appreciate a contact name in correspondence, so I can see who I am speaking to. I received the following (unsigned) reply: - Thank you for your reply Matters as such are dealt with internally I can assure your comments have been passed on. There are far too many negative reviews on this website. Avoid at all cost and go to a reputable jeweller

Very poor refunds/ exchange policy. Would not recommend this store to anyone simply because of this policy. Goes against the ideals, aims and principles of the Consumer Act. I purchased a chain and found the person who it was for had a skin allergy so returned said item to store and explained. Staff stated no problem and gave what I believed to be a respective credit. It was only later when I looked at the details and found it was simply a store credit for exchange. Looking back I thought it peculiar she had quickly bundled all the receipts and packed them into a card quickly moving on elsewhere. Putting this simply this policy should change. I will not be buying again from this store. I will be advising all others not to buy. Protests at the store are worth considering. Letters to the management are contemplated. My mission will be to change this policy. Social media is a wonderful tool..... Interesting to that only 36% of reviewers would recommend the store. This indicates room for improvement...

I purchased a bracelet as a gift for my sister, which she tried on. Took back as colour of stone wasn’t right. Had receipt, returned for exchange, rude staff was told had been scratched, must have been worn. Basically told I was lying. Will not be buying from here again!!

I was sold a scuffed ring and had extremely bad customer service with rude staff at the Merry Hill Branch and no refund was offered. Instead I had to buy another one spending double my money! The girl who served me accused me of being a liar multiple times when the ring had been tried on by someone else (who is was a gift for) for a matter of seconds - it was too big. Although the value of the ring and its miniscule scuff (something I hadn't even thought to check) wasn't what bothered me. It was the fact I purchased it 3 days prior had a receipt and was told it had clearly been worn and I was a liar. I know for a fact it had not been worn as I was there when the gift was been tried on and when it didnt fit it remained in my possession after. The only other explanation was it was sold damaged -scuffed- and hadn't been checked. In my oppinion they should not hire individuals with such a disgusting attitude towards customer care and quality service. I suggest they train their staff better and think about hiring new better people who deserve to work there. I have tried to contact them through email about the way I was treated and the problem and there is still no response. First and last time buying from this horrendous company! They treat customers like scum at the Merry Hill branch! Do not recommend!

My husband bought a replacement engagement ring for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. I noticed the shank was splitting in several places. I took it to an independent goldsmith as the guarantee had expired. It was 2 years old and an expensive ring. The goldsmith examined it and reported it was a manufacturing fault and advised me to take return it to Warren James. They claim it is not a manufacturing fault and say I need to pay for repair but they can’t guarantee it will last! Have tried to contact CEO, unsuccessfully. Have emailed Customer Services am still awaiting reply.

I bought a silver hallmarked 925 blue topaz ring 6wks ago, this morning I noticed a black mark and blisters around my finger after wearing it overnight. When I took the ring off the silver has broken away to reveal copper underneath! I have decided to take it to trading standards, won’t buy this cheap rubbish again!

My husband purchased earrings, necklace and matching ring from Warren James, Cramlington as a gift for my birthday. Unfortunately he hadn't realised I already had the identical earrings and necklace in my personal collection. We returned to the store 3 days later with both sets of items hoping they would see this was a genuine mistake and view the situation sympathetically. Sadly the response could not have been further from what we'd expected. Staff took great pains to point out government policy, company policy and refund policy, all of which were stacked in their favor. Despite the circumstances the only item returnable was the necklace and a monitory refund was out of the question. Customer service from Warren James is absolutely appalling. There is no 'good will' whatsoever and their managers have no power or willingness to work with their customers to turn a poor situation around and retain their valuable customers. A very dangerous stance to take when high street stores are 'dropping like flies'. I would urge anyone to avoid Warren James 'like the plague'. Their customer service is toxic!

Avoid at all costs. Rude staff in Cannock store who couldn't be bothered to help with a refund because they said 'i had the wrong paperwork' and they 'didn't deal with online orders'. One staff member i had the misfortune to deal with also backchatted as i left the store. Needless to say, i will not be buying from them again.

Initially seemed great. Purchased 2 pairs of earrings, 1 to wear and one to take away. Within minutes my ears are swollen and on fire. Straight back the shop to return the unworn pair (20 mins after purchase now). Manager pointed to the returns policy stating well if you can read..... goes on to explain some crazy scenario of why I can be lying. Implied twice within a minute that I am lying. I get the policy but surely common sense and her being a store manager would have some standing. Yes I swore at her and left and I certainly will not be returning. I have to add that these "sterling silver" earrings is questionable. I have never in 38 years reacted to true sterling silver, only high content nickel. Popped and old piece of sterling silver on when I got home and guess what, no reaction!!!!

I had a lot of different Jewellery bought for me for Xmas . One of the rings came up small ( even though it measured the same as another one which was purchased ? ) so was given a voucher in return. I have worn one ring and a bracelet and both the plating has worn off showing that the metal under neath is not STERLING SILVER . ( looks more like copper ) and now I am worried to wear the other jewellery in case they go the same and it will be too late to exchange because they were bought in December . You might as well purchase a cheap product if you only want to wear it a few times then throw it away. I still have the £50 voucher but do not want to buy any thing for this store again as it it rubbish . The shop assistants seem to have the same rehearsed patter and are not concerned that hard earned money is being wasted on products that you can only wear a few times . BEFORE you buy get a guarantee that the rhodium plating will not wear off as the item is not Sterling Silver as described

I'm sure it's mainly a trap for men buying gifts. Poor quality jewelry, rubbish returns policy and rrps that someone just makes up to let people think they are getting a bargain. You do not get value for money, you get a piece of tat that has been massively overvalued. No refunds so buyer beware.

Bought an item there as a gift for my wife. She didn't like it, so I tried to exchange it. Was refused as the store assistant found a minuscule scratch on it. The item has been in the box since the purchase and was removed only to try on and then placed back in under a minute. I am absolutely confident the scratch was there when they sold me the item as I haven't done anything to it to cause any sort of damage. They basically sold me an item in a condition they deem unsalable.

I was very disappointed in how I was treated in the Reading store today, I am a regular customer to the store and this particular occasion I went in to buy a bracelet for mother's day. I liked the swarovski crystal heart bracelet being displayed at £15. The guy took the code from the window and went to find it, only to come back to tell me that I'm not allowed it at that price, admitting they had changed the prices for the sale which wasn't starting yet. His colleague came to explain to me saying that prices online are different in store and that's the reason for the price difference but she seemed shocked when I said that it was the price in the window. After the guy stood pretending to be helping us by flicking a folder for 15 minutes, i got told I wasn't allowed the bracelet and if I did want it I would have to wait for the sale, but he wouldn't tell me when that was gonna be, I would just have to turn up and hope for the best. I was upset when my boyfriend explained how he used to work in the jewellery industry and they weren't allowed to change sale item price labels until the day. The employee went on to raise his voice telling him that he can do what he wants and that my boyfriend didn't know anything. Other customers looked at us, making us feel humiliated, some of the customers walking out also disgusted in the way we had been treated. We left empty handed and never wanting to step in a store of yours again.

Diabolical customer service I would warn everyone NOT to purchase from here. Products are over priced and poor quality and lose their sparkle in just a few weeks. Above all, their instore customer service is the worst i have ever experienced to date and they have the most rude and obnoxious staff who need some serious training on customer relations. Having read the negative reviews online and everyone complaining of the same issue it appears Warren James are just an all out incompetent company with atrocious customer service running rampant across ALL their branches nationwide. I was gifted a ring costing in excess of £100 which did not fit, i attempted to return it instore at the Halifax branch and the rude staff accused me of wearing it and scratching it and refused to refund or exchange. I was outraged to say the least and had to pursue a complaint with head office to return the ring. I was forced to make 3 visits to the store just to get my refund where staff treated me like a criminal and demanded i produce some formal I.D to get my refund ( in addition to my original card i paid with). Never have i experienced anything so diabolical in my life. The obnoxious staff member informed me that they categorically have a NO REFUND policy for any item bought instore. So people need to be made aware that once you have purchased a product instore, its impossible to get a refund if you change your mind after a few days. This is NOT made clear on the receipt. A 1 star rating is too generous for these crooks, will never be purchasing from here again.

My fiance bought an engagement ring in Warren James Bournemouth store. In last year December when my ring was just over year old the diamond fallen out of the ring. I went to store to give me a replacement ring but they said as it is over a year they can't do anything. So then I wrote an email complaint to the customer service, but they haven't even reply to me. Then I sent a post them, and then finally they respond to me by email. I clearly stated in my complaint that it is happened as the claws on the ring was faulty and didn't hold the diamond properly. Then they said I can take the ring back to the store, but in the store I have been told that they have to send it to the head office to give me a quote how much is it cost to repair. I didn't want to pay for it as it wasn't my fault so I sent an other complaint to the customer service. After that the replay to me if I get the ring and certificate just take it to the store and I will get a new one. Finally after a month I received an email that is done now and they will send it to the Bournemouth store. During this time I went for holiday for 2 weeks and when I came back I went to the store, they said they don't have it. I wait an other week and I went in as they said they will get in next week, but they still didn't have it then next week they called me then is arrived now. So after 3 mont I got my ring but guess what? They gave me a ring with much worst quality diamond what I had. Don't waste your time and your money, stay away from them. Rubbish quality and rubbish customer service. I never shopping anything from Warren James again
