“Pros: Looks great once fitted. Loved the colour we chose. Added to the character of our kitchen. Worth noting: Wasn’t happy with the time it took to sort out the order for 2 simple stained planks of wood. On a number of enquiries I was told that they were hand making my bespoke furniture. Obviously a generic reply as it was 2 shelves, that cost a small fortune for, but had to wait patiently for my order to arrive. Didn’t like the stamped advertisement on one side of the shelf, which incidentally was the better side and should have been stained as I could have then used it to face forward and hiding the ugly, almost black, saw marks. Yes I know what they’ll say regarding the character of the grain, but quite ugly saw marks in my opinion. The brackets weren’t finished to a good enough standard, with one being slightly too small and then marked my expensive plank while trying to fit it. This resulted in a gap between the brackets and the plank when mounted on the wall. The brackets weren’t even straight, so for the price I expected better. Now the biggest giggle, is the metal drill bit provided with the order. Honestly Ben, just don’t bother, as it needed to be mounted through a plasterboard wall, to an outside wall, requiring something far more substantial than this drill bit and why supply bright steel screws that would then look terrible on the black brackets. Ben, you also supplied brackets with holes predrilled to secure the plank in place, but no screws at all. Not what I expected for the price and the length of wait for my order to arrive. Hopefully your customers have a little bit about them and the correct anchors required to mount these, as they’re not light. Overall I’m pleased with the results, but a little more time and effort required to make this a 5 star purchase.”

From your review, I see that you received the incorrect screw fixing pack for your order. The screws should indeed have been black to match the brackets, rather than the steel colour you received. I’ve tried to give you a call to see if you’d like me to send out the correct fixings right away - please let me know, and I’ll ensure they’re sent immediately. Regarding the metal drill bit, it’s intended for drilling pilot holes in the underside of the shelf, rather than for wall installation. I completely understand how this may have been confusing, especially since the incorrect screws were sent. I sincerely apologise for this oversight on our part. As for the branding on the back edge of the shelf, it’s placed on the side we cut flat to ensure the shelf sits flush against the wall. I also want to apologise for the longer wait you experienced with your order. December is always an incredibly busy period for us, and as each item is handmade to order, our lead times were unfortunately impacted this year. “Delivery time of a couple of weeks is fair given these are handmade items, packaging was superb. Opted for the 30cm wide thicker shelf in 90 and 140cm lengths, wow these things are made to last. Chunky 50mm timbers which were dimensionally perfect, the two pieces fitted snugly within the inverted brackets which are also really strong. Being in two pieces you can choose which profile faces forward, I went for a lovely rustic edge with a natural indent which looks great. Would heartily recommend but bear in mind shelf weight when ordering thick, longer options and if you have plasterboard walls like me.”
