“I am determined to take every possible step to ensure that this firm, DC Law, is held accountable for their incompetence. Their staff is not only untrained but also disrespectful, showing a blatant disregard for clients who are left waiting and potentially losing money. Although I am not their client, my buyer is, and this situation is nothing short of a nightmare. I am on the verge of losing the house I've been trying to purchase because DC Law has failed to respond to my solicitors' emails and calls. This is completely unacceptable and has caused me significant stress, resulting in high blood pressure due to the undue pressure they are inflicting. Securing an exchange date has become a ridiculous challenge. I have read numerous reviews and can see that my experience mirrors those of others who have faced similar issues with this firm. It is clear that the staff handling my property case have shown a troubling lack of concern and accountability, and I will not tolerate it any longer.”
“I can echo a lot of the reviews below! I was recommended them by the estate agents but in terms of the most basic of customer service, they are absolutely appalling. Its makes me laugh when I leave a voicemail message and the recording says "we are helping other customers"... I was assigned a conveyancing lawyer and I literally didn't speak to her once despite leaving multiple messages which would have been very quick and simple for her to answer. The process is taking months with zero communication. I am actually really worried now that the sale will fall through as my buyer's mortgage offer runs out very soon. Noone ever picks up the phone or gets back to me. I have had the occasional random email from different people. On one occasion, one person (not my assigned solicitor) replied to me and was quite helpful for which I was eternally grateful given what I had come to expect. There have also been mistakes with names and various other things which have cost me in time and stress. I have seen some other positive reviews elsewhere but can only think they must be fake. I strongly advise anyone to steer clear of this company!”
“UPDATE: NEVER WORK WITH DCLAW. Lied to our buyers and vendors about being ready so people requested funds and this will now collapse our chain. Lied to us about this, hid communciations from us and have still not had the guts to call us direfctly and tell us this, hiding behind our estate agent. IUf your case is with Howrd or Liam, drop DCLaw now and go else were. Awful experience. Incredibly slow and inefficient. We sold our flat in September and they did not contact our building management checks that would take a long time untill April. This was while we where being told we would move before the stamp duty deadline in March. We went through an identical chain when buying during covid with solicitors that cost lots less and they got the job done months faster. Our case mangers are never available so you are constantly phoning and speaking to people that know nothing about your case. Work is only ever done when you are on the phone. They will not do anything proactive or efficient, any excuse to leave your case alone they will take it. A truly awful company. They used our building management as an excuse so when I requested a break down of all the steps taken by our building management the truth came out. They would do nothing with information given, they would not communicate with them and they misrepresented who was causing hold ups (it was them). We are supposed to be finished with the sale soon, but I know that won't happen and I will have to pay them even more money for expired searches because dclaw wants to ring you for every penny. I look forward to the days this company is a distant memory. The positive review name the same names again and again. This is for a reason. I have never interacted with thouse members of staff so I say avoid this company because that good experience is luck of the draw.”
“We were recently ‘allocated’ this company by our estate agents …. They could quite possibly be the most unresponsive unhelpful company I have ever dealt with !! And I once had Scottish Power !!
Impossible to navigate online process , no response to emails / calls / voicemails … even when I got through to someone they had no clue about my property !!??
We left two voicemails stating that if we didn’t receive a call by close of play on Wednesday 13th we would be requesting another company to represent us.
Anyway , we changed to another solicitor ( Connellys) and they did more for us in 24 hours than DC Law did in over a week ….
Funny thing is though , they called us TWO DAYS after we changed solicitors … ha ha ha .
Anyway it’s my opinion that you should avoid these at all costs , buying / selling houses is stressful enough without this terrible level of service . They’re not even cheap , sometimes that’s an excuse , but they aren’t .
3 out of five on reviews so think hard before instructing this lot .”
“Absolutely terrible company. Six months after instructing DC Law, my flat sale is still not completed. The service has been appalling, and the staff have shown a shocking lack of professionalism.
Calls and emails are rarely answered. On the rare occasion you do get a response, it’s vague and unhelpful—usually just “we’re waiting for enquiries”—with no clear plan of action.
Over the last two weeks, I’ve repeatedly told my case handler, Emma Hill, about the urgency of the situation, as my buyer is now close to pulling out. Yet progress remains painfully slow. I have even had to do her job for her, chasing my building’s management company for the management pack. To make matters worse, she emailed the wrong solicitors when trying to contact the management company’s representatives.
More than a week ago, I spoke to Fiona Powell and Sonya asking to escalate the matter to team manager Daisy Dagnell—but I have still heard nothing.
This is, without doubt, the worst experience I have ever had with any professional organisation. They are inefficient, unresponsive, uncaring, and frankly incompetent. As I write this, I am still waiting for them to get my sale over the line—time which I may not have if my buyer walks away.
I don't know how they have a 4.5 star rating on Trust Pilot but I imagine a lot of those reviews are fabricated.
DO NOT USE.”
“for a cash purchase of a probate property they have been deadful. asking the same question multiple times and then starting a whole new set of the money laundering questioning on the day BEFORE completion”
“The person we are buying a house from is using DC law and we are both at our wits end because of them, the deal should of been completed by now but as everyone else has stated they don’t reply and ghost”
“Atrocious lack of service. We were buying a probate property, the estate had instructed Move with Us to handle the sale and they use DCLaw. It took from July to November for DC Law to answer the first basic questions from our solicitor and it was only then that they realised the property was not on the land registry. The registration can be fast tracked if a sale is involved but DCLaw didn't bother so the whole process took almost a year. Move with Us blame DCLaw for delays but they function as a unit. Do not touch either Move with Us or DCLaw, they are useless.”
“The "conveyancer" simply did not do the job. She would not answer the phone when I called. Did not respond to emails I sent. No progress updates, just totally ignored me. Eventually I made an official complaint and the manager who took over the case asked me for things that should have been dealt with months before and without which, the case awas going nowhere.
Avoid at all costs.”
“Everything you don't want for an important transaction.
Incompetent conveyancer lacked attention to detail, repeatedly messing up simple tasks, dragging out the process over 10 months.
Our transaction was delayed over 10 months due to the conveyancer’s repeated failures. They were consistently unresponsive, frequently absent without cover, and failed to manage even basic tasks.
Completely unprofessional. Do not trust them with your transaction.”
“Liam Ryan wasted time, did not answer calls 8 months of waiting to sell my house, had to change solicitors in the end and after changing within weeks my new solicitor has done more than Liam Ryan did in the 8months, do not use him”
“Cannot get hold of conveyancer, if I could rate negative stars I would. Am about to potentially become homeless due to their negligence as vendor is ready to pull-out as this is ridiculous”
“Dreadful service, zero communication, avoid at all costs. Four months in we are still not getting anywhere. Our sale should have been plain sailing, but now totally stressful. One star is one too many! Avoid at all costs if you want to sell or buy.”
“The latest nightmare with dclaw. They are not releasing the balance on the sale of my property. Not responding to emails. I requested funds be paid into our joint account and passed over all the details. Completed a week ago. No chain a first time buyer bought our house. We are some way of completing on a purchase and we would like to be earning interest of OUR money
Do not go anywhere near this company. Do not deserve one star”
“What an absolute nightmare. Months of waiting and holding up the whole chain with no information forthcoming. Stamp duty deadline missed. 2 houses in the chain back on the market as we have no idea if DC Law will EVER get to a point of exchange. It’s no wonder all the solicitors hold their heads in their hands when they learn DC Law is in the chain. Whatever you do……don’t do it with this company.”

“Shocking. Every negative review I have written or trust pilot gets removed leaving just ‘positive’ reviews for this company. There are very few actually qualified solicitors at this company so the majority of your work is competed by someone who doesn’t know how to correctly complete the paperwork. Our simple sale has been held up for months due to DC law missing a clause from the contact. We have had a completion date given to us three times and each date has passed due to the hold up at DC LAW. Just don’t chance it and use another firm. This is the only site with honest reviews about the company. They have only been recommended by estate agents who get a commission from DC law. If you are looking for a solicitor that you can contact, then that is not DC law.”
“This is a true account in brief of our experience using SC Law Southport. I amazed as to why there are good reviews here?.
Using an online conveyor when moving house I certainly wouldn’t recommend,
1. You are expected to download fairly large legal documents, some of which have to be printed signed and returned preferably by email, ok if you can scan so you can mail them back, I did request they sent documents by post but that only happened once
2. Communication, phone calls rarely returned, same with emails
3. A lost document just before exchange of contacts, using an excuse, we hadn’t sent it, although it reappeared two days later.
4. The final straw our move in day didn’t happen, and had to find a hotel for the night, but our buyers were able to move in to our old house,
we were cash buyers, which begs the question who was sitting on our money
Although I can’t point my finger to DC Law for this lack of customer care my other experience go a long way in doing so.
Use a conveyancer who you can meet face to face
This my personal opinion of this company, and you should make your own decision”
“One star is a compliment to this company actually.
Absolutely disgusting, zero communication, zero urgency or eagerness to get anything sorted.
I would say this company has genuinely effected my mental health and has put me off ever moving house again.”
