When I changed over from a provisional licence to a full licence I knew my insurance would be going up but when it went up to £136 a month from £43... I went on to compare the market once again and put in my details... it gave me quotes that were £800 cheaper than what you were offering me... so I contacted you to see if you could lower it in anyway... eg.. adding a named driver with no faults EVER on his licence... driving for over 40years.. it took the grand total of £33 a YEAR off the massive £1336... my insurance now with someone else... fully comp with added extras and my dad as the named driver... a total of £530 per year...

Cheap insurance and easy to set up - then the problems start. The website will not allow me to change my address on line so have to do it by phone and, therefore, have to pay an admin fee. I'm also changing car - again, the website won't allow me to make changes so will have to do it by phone and, guess what, another admin fee. The moral of the story is, if something seems too gooD to be true........ you know the rest! I found this policy on the Comparethemarket website so thought it was reputable - depends on your definition of reputable!

I recently took out a policy with 1st Central having received a more competitive quote than my current insurer when it came to my renewal. No complaints over the price (although still high but I'm aware this is the case across the industry this year). My issue comes following payment for the policy I am then contact not just for proof of NCB like most insurers but I am being asked for a whole bunch of documentation.... a document to prove I paid for the policy, a copy of the front and back of my driving license and my wifes, a DVLA code so they can check the convictions declared, proof of my address and even a copy of my V5. The running around trying to get all this documentation together is not only inconvenient but straight away has given me a sour taste when it comes to trusting the information I gave when I took out the policy. I understand the need for pre-validation of a policy and to protect against fraud (I work in insurance myself) however the letter I received suggested the reason for this request was because they believe some of the information I provided was incorrect yet cannot tell me what. I have checked and double checked and the information I gave is correct and therefore this is all just highly inconvenient when I already lead a very busy life... To top it off, I am threatened with cancellation of my policy if I do not provide all this information within 14 days. Not a good start 1st Central.

Bought a policy in July deposit paid, no payment in August but 2 taken in 2 days in September then another taken in October, receive a default notice 2 days after the payment in October so called them to be told systems are down can't access customer details ?? Called back later same day still the same no access to customer details, so called them back the next day to be told : " forward us bank statements as we haven't received the payments " yet my bank clearly states 1st central as payee on direct debit I'm not happy to have to send my personal bank statements and as such will receive a cancellation from them as they can't find my payments ??. God know what the process would be like if I actually needed help in the event of an accident ? In my 20+ years as a driver I have never experienced such poor and unprofessional service, never again will I use this company.

OMG the customer service is pathetic. Got an email to say that my cover had been extended for two weeks because of an error on their part, then got an email to say my policy had already expired over a week ago; then got an email addressed to a different person entirely (at my email address) - the content did no apply to me and the grammar was incorrect also! The upshot is that I chose not to renew with them.

Having sold car, wish to cancel policy. Cost of policy £294.15 for the year, they want £95 just to cancel it, added to which 2% credit card fee. And they won't accept a cheque. Rip-off.

Pretty unhelpful. Done wrong date on my policy. Phoned and asked to bring forward one day but couldn't. Said they could cancel policy and bring forward one day but would have to take another deposit and couldn't honour the price I had accepted. Clearly just an intermediary reading from a screen. Hope I don't have to put in. Claim with this lot because from what I've read so far it's not good. Can't wait for renewal date as I will move far away no matter what price they quote. Tesco and admiral are miles better customer service and can actually make underwriting decisions. I'm going to tell everyone I can about the level of service I received here.

OK when dealing with insurance matters online and things go smoothly, if there's any type of error on their system (their record keeping seems to be poor) you can spend days and hours on the phone trying to sort it out (I did). Generally, customer service is slow and poor and communication between different departments is lacking. Will not use them again.

Customer service was very inefficient, they charged me extra money without any explanations, when I called and asked for several times, they just passed me to various departments, I got sick and tired of talking to unprofessional people and just paid the extra charges for switching to another provider. Generally not satisfied with their services.

My Daughter took out first time car insurance on Sunday afternoon,28/06/15 she was so excited to get this sorted and finally get out driving her lovely new car. Sorting it online was straight forward and clear, however with the nerves and excitement of this an era was made with the year of birth putting in 86 instead off 96 from the drop down bar. As soon as she got her confirmation emails she noticed this right away within minutes of making deposit payment of £140. She phoned straight away to sort this issue out but of course it was Sunday so they where closed. She then phoned again first thing Monday morning to cancel this policy and explain what happened. The customer service agent Darren Jeffery was extremely unhelpful, did not take into account the circumstances and basically said you cant cancel and if you are to cancel today less than 24hrs from opening policy you would need to pay £700 in charges and fees. This is a complete disgrace and extremely poor customer service. My daughters mother then took the phone and told him what she thought of the service and suddenly the £700 became £55 giving my daughter a refund of £85. So clearly this guy Darren was trying to take advantage of my daughters young age and naivety strong arming her into paying £700. Total disgrace, as she noticed right away within seconds i believe 1st Central should have understood and gave a full refund instead for bullying a young girl who simply made a mistake and doe the right thing right away and tried to fix the issue.

Do not pay annually because if you change your car they charge you a fortune even when it is in a cheaper insurance band. So if you try to cancel instead after just the first 4 months of the year they refund you less then half of the annual fee.

I bought the policy, due to start 20/06 online on the evening of Sunday 14th , when the documents came through I could see it was not what I needed, I could not cancel it online so had to ring up Monday to cancel. I was told by the lady I spoke to that I would have to pay £50-00 cancellation fee, despite your terms and conditions clearly stating there was no charge for cancellation before policy commencement ????

I tried to do another quote for a 2nd car, as I wanted to take up the offer of £50 off, if I take out another car insurance policy with you.it will only let me get as far as the quote, it will tell me how much it is, when I press pay it keeps taking back to the same page. Think you need to take a look at your website
