“Would not rely on Checkatrade to actually check their trades. Also suspect many reviews of traders on checkatrade are fake. Multiple contractors don't respond when trying to contact for a quote on checkatrade. Ones that do are unprofessional, do not provide what they say they will provide, bully you into making payment before job is completed.”

“As I said in my previous post everything is great just a little note to checkatrade when customers ask for a call back alert that checkatrade send to me by email when I call the customer they don't answer the phone because they don't recognise the phone number as they expect it to be the same as the number listed on my checkatrade website which is different as its a secure contact number that checkatrade uses”

“Checkatrade is definitely working much better for me now I'm getting lots of calls every week went through a bad spell for 2 months when they changed to the new algorithms system but it seems to be working OK now I did leave a bad review when this happened so to be fair I'd recommend them for tradesmen again even though its expensive its worth it”

“After being a member for 7yrs and over 200 10/10 reviews I find myself so frustrated with how badly Checkatrade.com now treat their customers ( trades people ). I can not get through to customer service by telephone and my emails go unanswered yet they have the nerve to put a negative review against my business from someone I've never even spoke too , let alone carried out any work for. Since Checkatrade.com was purchased by homeserve they only care about lining their pockets and no longer work with their customers.”

“This last week you sent me your security alarm gentleman, Mr Chris Godden of tiger fire and security who contacted me immediately he received your text. He gave me a very good price and five days later came and installed a new door entry system and phones! He was extremely efficient, kind and courteous and heartily recommend him. I’m elderly and live alone so it’s enormously important for me to have someone like Chris, a thoroughly pleasant young man to have around. May he achieve great success in his business! Regards Mrs B Weavis”

“Checkatrade is definitely working better for me now after going through a bad patch when the new algorithms system came out and not very many calls for 2 months so now my only complaint is that customers can't see my phone number and have to be diverted using the Checkatrade number shown on my profile listing also I know that lots of it's members are not happy about this as well SO COME ON CHECKATRADE PLEASE CHANGE THIS”

“Absolutely disgusted with checkatrade and there so called free affiliate membership as for helping the trades people and also guaranteeing certain amount of leads on the ‘affiliate’ membership in the free trial period but then when I go to cancel a month before it expires due to not getting any leads at all they still threaten me with a £30 payment that was in small writing and insist on upgrading to there full membership for £100 a month which is an absolute joke as you can tell they only care about what’s going in there pocket and not yours. I also was threatened by a boy named Luke that if I didn’t pay the £30 that I would be taken to court. I honestly cannot believe how badly and such of a money scandal this company is and to all tradespeople to stay well.”

““7 years and with 333 reviews all with ten out of ten scores for my reviews. We find ourselves on page 5 in our post code area. customers will see competitors with less reviews and a lower score. how is this acceptable. When I joined they said the more reviews you have with the best score then you should be always found in your area they are saying that the new algorithms system is to help new members get a fair share of the work. HOW IS THIS FAIR, AS LONG AS THESE NEW COMPANIES ARE PAYING, THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT LONG STANDING MEMBERS AND THEY WANT TO JUSTIFY PUTTING PRICES UP BY USING THE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES THAT YOUR BUSINESS OFFERS. Bye Bye Checkatrade, will be handing out new forms to clients and would prefer to ask them for google reviews instead.”
