Almost had a crash this morning when one of their vehicles decided to pull of the pavement towing a vehicle without waiting for a gap in the traffic. Just my vehicle and one in front. Luckily driving at 30mph and just enough distance to stop when the guy in front had to slam on. Disgusting. looking for an online form to make a complaint as I could identify the location, road and time quite specifically, but not a chance with their web 'help' pages.

Purchased the RAC warranty. Turns out its a worthless bit of paper that cost me £600 and won't pay out when the time comes to actually claim on it. Never had this issue with AA. Will never purchase an RAC product warranty or breakdown cover again!!

Called today. 75 miles from home. Was told 3 to 4 hour wait. I ended up paying a local garage to get my car started. Last time I called RAC for a breakdown was in 2007. Waited over 5 hours from midnight before a friend came and rescued me. We had two young children in the car today and little way of keeping warm. I don't know how these manage to win awards. Twice I've need them and twice they've failed me. I'll be going elsewhere with my money from now on.

I lost my car keys and I was told later on that my cover is less than 14 days , what a foolish thing to say, well it’s easier. Have requested a refund and cancellation. Apitor

Awful. I broke down at night, about 23:30, it was dark, late, cold and I was alone. I was called firstly to day there was no one from RAC who could get me and that a local patrol would help. Half an hour later received another call saying that actually no, I wouldn't be helped tonight. This is unacceptable. In a vulnerable position, I pay monthly for a peace of mind, however this is not the case. Not reliable, very disappointed.

The RAC are absolutely disgraceful! Do Not join them it’s all a con ! They are not interested they just pass you from pillar to post ! If you break down they cannot take you with your car to destination, I was left for 10 hours awaiting transport! Shame on the RAC

RAC insurance claim do not expect this to be dealt with professionally. Put through to incorrect departments on each occasion, expected customer to run their own claim, inadequate staff who treat customers in abusive and inhumane ways.

The service ranges from shockingly bad to non existent if I could have given zero stars I would have.We broke down at home on Monday 8.30am.We have ultimate cover, we rang them and first van turned up after 5 hours (the car wouldn't hold coolant) so we needed towing to a garage except the guy said he couldn't tow us our street was too narrow. For reference it's a normal street with terraced houses and is always full of cars but we've have previous places tow us with no issues and you can get a fire engine down our street. We'd have to wait for a flatbed.8.30pm a flatbed turns up he doesn't want to tow us either says one car is in his way a neighbours (i offered to ask them to move it) he still won't. Tells us RAC is rubbish and we should go with Green Flag. Then tells me a van will be back to tow us the next morning between 10am-12pm (tues). Nobody came many calls later and many broken promises of a manger calling me back finally one did at 5.40pm to say they were on their way out now to collect. I was out but had left keys they said that was fine. 10mins later same manager rang me back to say they couldn't do it and it would now be sometime tommorow they needed a special bar to tow no more indication on time than that.It is now Wednesday and I'm still waiting. P*ss poor way to conduct their business in my opinion they have apathetic staff with pathetic excuses. We payed for their Ultimate level of cover for piece of mind but so far their sevice has been ultimately SH*T!

RAC Warranty Brand new policy (weeks old) have a problem with the car, (the lights are stuck on so likely to be an electrical fault, probably a fusebox short) RAC couldn't be less interested 'we don't cover lights', that was it, end of call. Disgrace to their heritage.

My daughter called RAC with a breakdown (flat battery) at 10:18 this morning. She was told it would be up to 4 hours for an operator to arrive. After 4 hours no show she contacted the RAC to be fobbed off with 'escalation'. At 16:00 hours when she called the operator HUNG UP ON HER. it is 19:10 and she STILL HAS NO ETA....9 hours with a broken down car in temps of zero degrees. I contacted the ARC and they told me a 'MANAGER' would get straight back to me. That was 1 hour ago. Appalling service to a member of 41+ years. Anyone know the contact number for GREEN FLAG or THE AA??

Their own claims officers can’t interpret the pds how are we supposed to. Their definition of fire damage is also shocking! Does not include damage caused by smoke, heat, ash or other toxic substances caused by fire which is likely to constitute a significant part of your claim. Buyer Beware!

RAC sold me a battery which failed after 8 months of a 4 year warranty but there is no way to make a claim. The phone number on the warranty (0800 828282) is out of action and attempting to get through to a new number has failed.

Don’t put your money or trust into this company who only has one job which is to come and help you when you break down! They do not help, let alone recover you!

Car broke down at 8.30pm on the M40 motorway. 3 hours later and still no confirmation of a time when they can get here. They have said about 4-5 hours wait time. Lady driver on her own - this service is totally unacceptable. By the time I get home I will have been up all night stranded in a car on my own - really scared

I would like to share my experience with RAC recovery service. We are with RAC, as members, for 2 years. We used their service for the first time on 7th December 2021. And they made it the worst day of the year! Early morning on 7th December I was dropping my wife to the airport. We left our house 4 hours earlier before the flight (meanwhile my 3 children were waiting for me at home to be dropped off to school). There was 15 minutes left till Luton Airport when we punctured our car tire. It was flat and that happened at 6:30am... We reported to RAC at 6:45am and we were told that help would come between 20 minutes to 2 hours. Now to make a shorter story: that time was enough to catch my wife's flight! We waited 5 hours for help but no one arrived!!! We missed the flight and I had to take a day off work (£150). My friend helped us at his own price (£90). In the tire shop I paid for a new tire £130 and I was left in a bad mood for the rest of the day. I made an official complaint to RAC and the answer I got from them was very disappointing. They said it was my own decision to leave the place of accident (after 5 hours of waiting!!!) and they refused to cover any of my own expenses which they should cover in 100% in a situation like this!!! That will be the last journey with this company because I can't trust the them anymore...

My daughter had a blow out on her tyre in the middle of no where, called them at 10.20 pm they said they would be there in the next few hours, called back at 1.30 am they said they might not be able to get there until after 3.30 am that's if she's lucky, luckily a taxi was driving past and saw her and helped, RAC you should be ashamed of yourselves, your ok taking the money every month but didn't bother turning up when you were needed, Shame on you, never again would I use this company, absolute f@@king joke you are,

Opportunist Con Artists- not fit for purpose. 15 Minutes to answer emergency breakdown line - TWICE! (same person - so ONLY person?..). Fuel contamanation not covered in small print and ridiculously opportunist charges to rectify... To tow car was also not covered for this even though it is clearly a breakdown.

As with others minus stars would be better. Called them at 21:20 last night explained no headlights were working except beam. Was told someone would be out within 2 hours and explained I was lone female in an unknown area. Said they would prioritise big joke 3 phone calls later already exceeded the 2 hours getting cold a man turned up with a recovery lorry, not a tow truck. He then explained he couldn't actually look at the car as he has no qualifications and was just a mover. They just forgot to tell him where he was moving me to so when I explained it was 70 miles away he said he only does local. Contacted Rac again took 20 mins to answer now midnight and getting colder snotty person on the phone tells me their agent has assessed the vehicle and can't fix it. How can an unqualified person assess a vehicle? Doesn't even know where to look for fuses. Not his fault and he did the best he could under the circumstances. Rac then proceeds to blame the contractor and tell me it will take 4 to 5 hours for a recovery vehicle because the unqualified lorry driver can't fix it. Absolutely ridiculous and not what I'm paying for wasn't going to wait that long in a city I didn't know so had to take my chances and blind everyone with my beam on. I pay for peace of mind and this wasn't it will be cancelling the whole families memberships and looking elsewhere. It's the second time in 13 months I've used them and the first time was a bad experience also. Faulty alternator so he wanted to charge me over £200 to put a new battery on. I'm no mechanic either but even I know the new battery wouldn't charge if the alternator is faulty. Offered to charge my battery while he followed me half way home but he didn't have time to follow me the full 45 miles because he was busy. Disgraceful service and I must be paying at least £500 a year for everyone to be covered.
