Absolutely worst company ever. Made me wait 7 hours just to be told no patrol around and they will send an external recovery company waited another four hours !! Avoid this company at all costs

Very slow response and a three hour wait even though it was classified as a medical emergency response. Would not recommend them as a break down service. I phoned in that I was unable to start my car at approx 1525. I tried to do it on the App but it said phone in - I did straight away and spoke to an operative. He confirmed my details, took my £40 excess and I also explained that I had had to pop out to deliver a letter which was the reason for the car trip, and my 23 year old daughter was home alone. She is disabled and autistic, but was asleep and although can live independently, shouldn't be left for more than an hour on her own because of her condition. He said that was noted and would add to the call out notes. I received the first text from you at 1539 to say the response would be at 1757, 2 hours later. I called back in and spoke to another operative. I again explained the above and was told it would be set as a medical emergency call out. I was thankful for that. I also explained I only needed a jump start as my car had been idle for two weeks as we had been away, nothing else needed. I received 4 further texts to say you were busy. At 1806 I received a text to say they were working on getting someone to me. The RAC man arrived at approx 1820. He parked, took out his battery jump start unit, connected it, and I started the car straight away. Less than 2 minutes.

Absolutely atrocious . Zero rated. My 18 year old daughter broke down in a country lane and waited five hours until 2.30 am and still no show. Told she was a priority and strung along to believe it was the external 30 minutes. When she had had enough of waiting in the dark the advice was to leave the keys on top of the wheel - which I imagine every thief would know. What sound advice - of course they can’t except liability though. Still waiting to hear at 8. 0 the next morning if anybody is going to bother coming out. Absolutely shocking as per the rest of the reviews.

Terrible service.....broken down at 6.30 on a very dangerous busy part of the M25...was told someone would be with me between 7.06 and 7.36pm....nobody came and no updates until 9.30pm when I was told a trusted partner would come out to me as recovery despite the fact I pay for roadside and recovery.Had no updates ...the app was not working and they were not answering my calls....I got my girlfriend to call them and they answered straight away and were very rude.I eventually had an update at 11pm when it was pitch black that a trusted partner would be out to me by 11.30pm....he arrived at 12.05 after midnight ..they are now a cowboy company do not go with then a disgrace

The breakdown service I received doesn't even merit one star. Called them out at 5.17pm. Ended up speaking to EIGHT different people. Was lied to with assurances THREE times that recovery was on its way – "ETA within the hour" – finally recovered at 0130am the next day. I had medical issues, yet they didn't callme for over FIVE hours. Complained. Was offered £50 cheque. Ask for a review. RAC claimed they had "no reason" to review the case. On its website RAC states you can complain via Ombudsman and an alternative dispute resolution. But RAC doesn't subscribe to the service so it won't discuss your case with anyone. UNBELIEVABLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Most Terrible service ever! I reported a car breakdown on the 16th of June at 8:36am. The first attempt of contact they made was at 13:00pm after that I clearly stated that I had a civil marriage ceremony to attend to. When I returned back to my car after the appointment I was told that the earliest someone can come to me was at 00:31, and it wasn’t guaranteed that he would be there are 00:31 as it could be 04:00. I was then advised that he could book me a slot for the following day (Saturday) between 09:00-11:00. I rang them up at 10:30 as I had still not received a text message and I was told that the person who booked the appointment booked it for Sunday!! Terrible! The lady got it changed and never confirmed that with me. I called back again 30 minutes later and I was told that the patrol will be with me at 11:59am. I rang up at 1pm as no one showed up and I was told I was next in line… I waited until 4pm and was told that he should be with me at 4:42pm. I rang again as there was no show of a patrol after all the waiting and I got informed that no one will be with me until 9pm in the evening! I have been waiting over 13 hours in the space of two days and I am still waiting as I am typing up this review. There is no way I would ever use RAC again.

I am disabled so was on a medical 'priority' but broke down on Tuesday in 28 degree heat in the middle of the countryside with no food, no water, and nowhere else to go. Call out took 11 and a half hours, the entire time I was sat in an increasingly hot car with no food and no water. Ended up extremely unwell, no sympathy from those on the phone and some were incredibly rude. Avoid like the plague.

Despite registering a medical priority for a breakdown and advising I am feeling vulnerable in the area i am in they just keep putting the era back further. The promised call in respect of my medical priority has yet to be despite 2 hours passing since it was registerd. Staff surly and unsympathetic

Would give zero stars if possible. Have been waiting 13 hours overnight and counting for breakdown assistance. Communication has been the worst I have ever experienced from any company. I have been fed a constant stream of lies regarding the estimated recovery time, which is eternally “30 minutes away”, and never arrives. Their staff have been exceptionally unhelpful over the phone, and could offer no assistance whatsoever. If you have RAC membership, cancel it and save your money. If you’re not a member, don’t touch it with a barge pole.

The RAC has lost my car. They recovered it about 12 days ago and since then there is no trace of it. I have been promised by about 12 different people there (after hanging on the phone for literally hours) that it will be delivered 'today', that I will be called back, that they dont usually treat customers like this and so on.. but my BMW full of holiday luggage, golf clubs etc has vanished from their custody!

Broke down Monday 12/06 at 5.30 in Hounslow still waiting to be recovered 14/06 at 12.30 pm. Dreadfull service . Getting through to anybody is horendous

Called them at 1.30PM on Monday for a home start as I have this service on my membership - it is now Wednesday morning and still waiting - updates have stopped by text and having to continually call in and on hold for 45 mins at a time for an update. Was told last night it was a priority for this morning guess not. As soon as I get this sorted my membership will be cancelled and going elsewhere they are a joke. I have lodged a complaint but looking at other reviews I don't hold out much hope of hearing back

Cowboys.Will canceling my membership,waste of time.Rather join a cheap smaller car recovery breakdown elsewhere.Rubbish service,not updates waiting on roadside for RAC to arrive,been ages ,the est time is a waste of time and a lie.

Absolute disgrace of a company. Rang them to get my bike recovered as advised by my dealership because my Petrol cap had seized. The patrol attended and proceeded to try and prise open the cap with a screwdriver. I asked him to stop and his reply was, let me get a bigger screwdriver. At this point I told him do not touch the bike again and asked him to get it recovered. His reply was, I’m trying to f@&cking help you mate. I was bemused to say the least. I once more asked to get the bike recovered and he refused, jumping in his van and driving away. I made a complaint to ktm regarding the incident. Which they was amazing and gave me £400 compensation and a sincere apology. Whereas rac have taken over 2 months to respond to my complaint, saying there is no evidence to say their patrol did the damage and claim they aren’t at fault. If this wasn’t a free service provided by ktm, I’d never buy any breakdown cover from these cowboys. I hope ktm read my review and assess wether they are in business with the right breakdown service. The rac’s customer service is absolutely non existent and they should take a leaf from ktm book. Avoid at all costs. Ps I have picture evidence of the damage caused to my bike, which is why ktm gave me the compensation they did.

Reported the car had a fault and the engine light was on continuously. Called RAC who said they would be out that day to collect the car and take it to our local garage. After numerous phone calls, and managers calling me back to promise it would be collected nothing happened. It took three days for it to eventually get picked up. I had to take time off work to wait in. Following this very stressful situation, I write a complaint to RAC who acknowledged my email and provide me with a complaints number. They promise to get back to me within 20 working day. We are now on day 27 and no response, despite writing to them again. I checked how I can take the complaint further, as per there website, I can write to the National Conciliation Service, however RAC doesn’t subscribe to any ADR scheme as they aim to resolve the complaints! Avoid at all costs.

Would give it a zero if I could! Rung at 2200 got told it would be 120-180 minutes waited 8 hours not even a phone call or update on if anyone was coming got hung up on twice and was on hold for 1 hour and 15 minutes just trying to find out a rough time, absolutely useless company

My partner stranded on her own on the A3 stranded with no hard shoulder!!! 70 mph road with 3 lanes. It was quicker for me to drive 45 minutes. Change the wheel O/S while she blocked the traffic on her own from lane 1! Priority is proprity and was disgusted!!

If I could give minus 5million stars I would. The 💩RAC💩 is a bunch of 💩. My daughter broke down Wednesday evening at 8.30pm on the A34 in a tiny wee lay-by...... Finally got recovered at 2.45am the next morning. If I hadn't driven 75 miles to wait with her she would have been alone in the dark on a massively busy trunk road. I genuinely despise the RAC
