Waited 6 hours with a two year old for assistance. Disgraceful contempt for members . Join the AA , much better .

RAC Service Plan, disappointed. I usually rate RAC very highly, but the Service Plan let me down. I took out the plan and booked my MOT and full service on the app. Then arrived to find out the garage no longer deals with RAC. Then to add insult to injury I asked to cancel and obtain a full refund for my payments to date. Was told yes no problem but we will deduct £25 fee. Wow. Let's hope they do cancel as they have been drawing down on my card every month.

Unacceptably Awful. Which kind of culture is this??, not being punctual is the norm?! My partner had an accident and needs to be rescued by RAC; tow our damaged van and bring him back home ( luckily nobody is injured including him). He was told that the rescue would arrive in 2hours time which is already taking too long for being rescued in London, he is not in the remote mountain! But it’s been nearly 4hours waiting and nobody is here! He had already very stressful experience and then on top of that this long ridiculous wait??My partner has contacted RAC few times and they said to him that they can’t reach to the driver who is supported to rescue him because the driver doesn’t pick up the phone!! Then my partner got the call from the driver himself saying that he was just informed to come to rescue him 40mins ago, which was the time the driver supposed to be rescuing him!! I don’t know who is telling the truth, the RAC? Or the driver?? It doesn’t matter who is lying but the service from RAC is more than appalling. We are paying customer. If you don’t look after your customers, they just leave but your business ethic is damaging your company. It’s been over 4hours wait but nobody is with him. DO NOT USE RAC.

Very poor service for any breakdowns. We have been broken down for 2days and they still haven’t dropped our vehicle to a garage. Absolutely disgusting. And if you want any updates they keep on lying and delaying the times every time you call. Absolutely the worse service in the UK, avoid at all costs.

Reported my car broken down on the way to work, 30 mins from my work and another 30 mins away from the next city. I am told Rac will be with me in 4 hours. I keep calling but they tell me a driver hasn’t even picked the job up. It’s the next day and no one has picked my car up yet. I am stranded, luckily a nice farmer passed and tried to help. Absolutely no point in having rac cover when they can’t do what they promise.

Broke down on A11 near Norwich at 2:15 pm Friday 07/07/2023. Patrol man came in 45 minutes and couldn't repair said recovery needed. Despite several promises over night finally arrived 1:45 pm Saturday. Taken 24 miles to service station. Told them we are both over 70 and I am type 2 diabetic and run out of medication. 2 more relays and endup in truck stop 9.30pm. Several promises over night and eventually picked up 10.30 sunday morning. Arrived home lunchtime. 44 to get 150 miles. It was suggested we could be taxied home and leave the car and caravan for collection some time in the future at our own risk and no guarantee when they would be collected or if they would still be there. RAC nill stars.

Do not even waste your money on this joke of a company Had a year warranty included when i brought my used car. Had 3 faults within that time , only one of them was partly covered. Even the seat belt stalk was not covered under warranty even tho its a standard safety aspect. Never again , take my advice and use a decent company

If I could give no stars I would. As a recovery service I have had no problems. However I recently paid for them to fix the springs in my car. The service was awful. The mechanic moaned the whole time that he was so busy and that he was managing six others and was on his phone the whole time. He left and my car was making a weird popping sound. New RAC man comes out tells me it’s my top mount that the first guy ‘thought he fixed’ but not invoice so I’d have to pay for it. Off to my garage who inform me the spring they fixed was fitted the wrong way round hence the noise. Do not use them do not part with your money. I have made a formal complaint they say they will respond within TWENTY working days they currently HAVENT!

Avoid at all costs. All they do is lie and bombard you with misleading text messages. Have been waiting since 8:30 this morning and now approaching 18:00 car has still not been recovered. They kept lying about trying to find a recovery truck and at 14:30 said it had gone to a trusted partner only for this to be another lie. Then promised 16:30 called back at 17:09 to be told we did not Say that and it is awaiting a job to Be booked. Absolute shambles. Wish I had just driven it to the garage with the fault and let the engine destroy itself.

Phoned RAC at 7.30pm 08/07/23 about my breakdown about changing gears. I received lots and lots of text with target arrival by 22.58pm. After many calls by myself later, my case was referred to a trusted partner at 00.46 09/07/23. Trusted partner called at 00.21 and recorvery by 02.30. Recovered at about 03.20 by a very pleasant and polite driver from Richford Motor Services who drove us to South Mimms Services on the M25 for onward recorvery to our home and adviced calling RAC for arrival time for onward recorvery about 03.40ish. RAC said expected onward recorvery time was 08.28. After this time RAC just was unresponsive when called. At 04.30ish and after waiting for over 10 mins on the phone, I decided to see if I could make it home, a 20-30 mins drive. I had a gear problem and was not able to change gears, but to wait 5 hours at a motorway service station is ridiculous. I decided that driving in 2nd/3rd gear could be managed. At the service station, I made sure that I could engage 2nd and 3rd gear safely. I managed to drive home arriving at 05.30ish. RAC are a joke. There should be a NEGATIVE Star Rating. I will suggest Star Ratings from -5 to +5. In this case I will give RAC a -5. Will not use again.

I reported the fault at 4.45pm and was initially told someone would be with me by 7pm. The patrol eventually arrived at 2.34am. The patrol was brilliant - polite, thorough and patient - I can't fault him. The customer service leading up to his arrival however, was abysmal. I waited for almost 9 hours at a motorway service station. I was fobbed off with assurances that my call had been escalated and then prioritised. I was told I would get call backs within 30 minutes and I didn't. I received automated text messages with the anticipated attendance time moving further and further away. After 8 hours I was told that because 'I was getting anxious', a taxi could be arranged to take me home with a patrol attending my car at the service station the next day. I refused this option as I had no confidence that anyone would actually attend the next day - which is when a patrol was finally dispatched (although I had to wait a further hour for them to arrive). All in all it was an extremely stressful situation. There didn't seem to be any sense that the long wait was anything out of the ordinary or unreasonable. I thought that lone females were given priority but this clearly isn't the case. I certainly won't be recommending RAC to anyone any time soon.

Really awful service they seem to have really big problems with the systems they use and number of staff they have in the field. Computer generated Text messages are dished out every hour with fake promises to placate us customers and then escalated to a team that does not seem to exist. I used them as it was part of the Tesco Insurance package. I had used AUTOAID before then....and that's who I will use in the future Vote with your feet go somewhere else to get better service nothing can be worse then the RAC surely

If I could leave no stars I would, for the first time in four years of cover with the rac I needed their services and support, everything was great until the most abnoxius ignorant person I have ever met turned up . Truly a real plonker. His name is Paul fielding his number is 1514. If he turns up ask for someone else.

Worst company in breakdown companies in the history of breakdown companies by a country mile STAY CLEAR.Left a disabled person over 22hrs broken down at Gretna services with a broken fan belt YES 22HRS. The RAC constantly lied about coming out hour after hour constantly lied about the recovery being now at the highest level but still DID NOT TURN UP. This company is despicable and downright dangerous to be involved with. NOW JOINED THE AA If I can help one person NOT buy into there lies and NOT buy a policy then that helps a little. When eventually service did turn up fixed problem within half an hour so a shout out goes to him.If any newspaper or radio station wishes to pick up my story they can contact me through trust pilot I'M DONE WITH THEM

Do not join th RAC. Twenty five phone calls made over one hour ,each one saying "line busy ". The Web site showed ," car not taxed ,therefore membership invalid ". My car is exempt from road tax due to it's age but the Web site didn't allow for this. I used a local recovery which arrived within the hour. The RAC is not fit for purpose

I can’t even start to explain how much went wrong and in so many ways. Over 24 hours to get home. Don’t bother reading any more reviews just click on another service provider (anyone but the RAC).

My daughter Broke down at 14:30 in Nottingham (returning from Uni with a car full of her possessions) and contacted RAC via App, Patrol man turns up 2.5 hours later to tell her he can't fix it and Recovery will be in touch within half an hour. More than 2 hours later after several calls she finally gets a call from the recovery team. At 20:50 after more calls Recovery truck turns up and loads her car. At 22:18 Recovery truck leaves my daughter and her car at services in Leicester!!! YES, YOU READ THAT BIT RIGHT THEY LEFT A YOUNG WOMAN ON HER OWN AT A MOTORWAY SERVICES LATE AT NIGHT WITH NO WAY OF GETTING HOME. No new recovery truck turns up after several calls and empty promises from RAC. RAC then advise her to leave the car as they will send an UBER. Daughter eventually arrives home without the car at 1:30 am. Saturday 24, we contact RAC to find out when the car will be recovered to the garage, they tell us today. The Car gets picked up but is then left in Northampton. After my daughter has been left around 30 texts by RAC and several calls and broken promises later the car finally gets picked up. Tuesday 28, the car is finally dropped off at the garage. I pay for family recovery to avoid this kind of circus, there is NO complaint phone number. I have submitted a complaint to RAC via email, and they have responded telling me they will review my complaint and get back to me within 8 weeks - gee thanks guys. I had a disappointing experience with the RAC customer service representatives that I spoke to. At their best, they were unhelpful, and at their worst, they were dismissive. It was evident that they were following a script and lacked a proper understanding of the situation. Avoid this company.

The worst recovery service in the world. Told at 7.30 pm I am high priority because stranded on hard shoulder. Two hours later RAC passed my recovery to a subcontractor who had to come from halfway accords the country. Two hours later he arrived but did not have the spanner to fit the wheel nut. Half an hour later told another hour and a half until the proper RAC person will arrive. Then they tell me another subcontractor will be sent. Still here after five hours on hard shoulder of A1M.

i Broke down on a motorcycle. After 6 hours of being updated and almost certainly lied to about why I was being delayed I eventually was rescued by a fellow biker who drove home and got a bike trailer. I spoke to the Rac next day who said an Rac man turned up at 3.30 am. This not a breakdown service this is damn right dangerous and unsafe. Rac needs to close down. No point being cheap if you have no staff. I’m out.
