I had a smell in the cabin & an engine light came so I called RAC at 2.30pm. Thankfully I had just got home when I noticed this. I kept getting updates for call outs which increased by 2 hours every so often. By 8pm I was getting fed up so rang them & rearranged the call-out for the following day at their suggestion. I did explain that I had an early appointment the following day so the advisor stated the call-out would be after 11am. Whilst I was at my appointment guess what?! the RAC called! I was really annoyed. I rang to complain. I had a call from the resolutions team (right 😂) & the women was so rude she totally got the wrong end of the stick & kept talking over me. Again it was 4pm by this time no one had called & I was told I had been a priority for hours. I rang again later as I stopped getting any updates & spoke to another advisor who also talked over me. I ended up having the guy Mark call out at around 8.30pm & he was really helpful. Overall I can’t believe how INCOMPETENT this company is!! It was stressful as I’m totally reliant on my car & have a son with complex needs. It seems my experience is nowhere near as bad as the other customer reviews I’m reading on here! I will be cancelling my policy. Last year I broke down, lone female in a deserted car park they took 5 hours to arrive!! DISGUSTING SERVICE RAC YOUR NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!!

Has got to be 1 of the worst companies to.deal with. Vehicle changeover Called this morning to instuct change of Vehicle. Reg number given at start 9f phone call. Increased premium which I expected. All gone through. Checked app few hours later to see old car but new reg. Called to get this rectified to be told we can insure the new vehicle. But we have charged your account just over ÂŁ500. Absolute shambles. Would help if we had advisor's who could speak fluent English not some illegal immigrants

Absolutely terrible service I use these for my work vans, my employee and animals were left road side for 9hrs, when calling for help I was told and I quite there is nothing that can be done. I will be cancelling and only telling people how bad the service is. 9hrs waiting on the road side is disgusting

Forced off edge of road by oncoming car who was on wrong side of road who failed to stop couldn’t get reg front tyre side wall torn modern cars don’t have spare wheels so called RAC who I have been a member of for 20+years only to be told to call my car insurance to get recovered as it was a road traffic accident all I needed was a tyre replaced so called local garage in that area they came straight out took wheel got new tyre fitted no problem will not be rejoining again

Bitterly disappointed. 78 Yr old lady , her car still resides in a town car park , as yet unseen by RAC who were alerted yesterday . Two unfruitful trips to said car park where RAC failed to appear as promised. 2nd trip last night with a 50 minute wait with no show. Poor service at best .

Worst ever service , I've been waiting 7.30 pm now its 22.25 at night and they called me twice asking same question how did my car tyre brust on motorway, they have not sent any help yet now they are saying another 4 hours means 2am at night ??? Very rude customer care even ,

RAC are MASTER DECEIVERS First they don’t make it clear that recovery is not recovery if you have an accident!!!!! It says recovery on my policy, NOT Recovery unless you have an accident. I specifically went for recovery being a woman on my own. That was con number one. Secondly. They never mentioned it being a year contract, and want to charge me for breaking a contract I never knew existed. I stopped paying them, because they ripped me off. So they wanted to add insult to injury. Absolute crooks. Not to mention I had to wait 6 hours in the dark on my own, on the edge of a really busy roundabout with large hgvs flying past the back end of my car, that wouldn’t move. Absolutely disgusted by them. Will not be paying them a penny as they don’t deserve it. Con artists

Never ever go with this pathetic low life company. They messed my poor mum about who's a diabetic and heart patient on the motorway for 6hrs !!!!

Rac has hit rock bottom, I had to wait 10 hours in my car in the freeze cold far away from home, I had a tyre punched, no money to buy a new one from them they quoted ÂŁ180,so had to wait for till the truck to came to fix it. If I had ÂŁ180 for a tyre the would have been with me in an hour I bet. It not about recovery any more, it's about making money only. either you buy parts or their tyre if you have no spare.

Called 12noon for my car to be recovered 10pm still not arrived disgusting service. I’m a woman in the car in minus conditions on my own, I lost a days salary and now will go into another day without pay will they compensate me ‘No’ Dave Hobday you need to know how bad your customer service is, remember a bad word gets around a lot quicker than a good word. If I kept you waiting 10 hours would you use my company again ‘No’ you wouldn’t. I either don’t know how poor your service is or you’re ignoring it. Today and tonight’s temperatures were minus conditions no snow just cold weather.

Worst company in the world. Incompetent service, never use or engage the RAC for anything. I am currently cancelling my company fleet and personal cover. They will lie and let you down every time.

Our service engineers have the RAC for their breakdowns. Our engineers van today broke down. I contacted the team online as told to do around 8am. We had a time of 10:30 to recover, this was ok. I refresh the page to see that it had been cancelled and the driver hadn't called my engineer to say he couldn't find him. So i had to then try again, this time i spoke to someone on the phone. Had another time slot for 13:00, about hour later next time slot 14:30 to 16:30. My engineer has been waiting all day for this. Its beyond ridiculous. Lost a full days work due to this problem of waiting around. Not happy with the service at all. I know the weather and traffic is bad but this just took the p***!!!! Resorted to a local garage to tow the vehicle and come out and do diags. Will be looking in to a new breakdown cover service.

Honestly wish I could give 0stars. Used to be a great company with great customer service who would go beyond to give you discount. No longer such a company. Was on a continual loop of pressing 1 going round in circles on the various numbers I had for them (number on my benefits key fob clearly outdated and they’d not sent me a new one). Eventually had to log it online. Called for an estimate of when they would arrive as I needed to collect my son. Was told it wasn’t on system and if I had no text to confirm then it wasn’t logged. Rude lady wouldn’t log it for me. I was getting exasperated from the stress of trying to get in touch with them and was told to “not be short” when I said excuse me coz I’d not quite understood what she said she again said “don’t be short with me” I admit I lost my rag at that point. Hopefully I made her day a misery because she Definately didn’t help mine. Cancelled my auto renewal direct debit (which had gone up to £80 when it used to be £40!!) and I assume because of my “behaviour” they’ll cancel my membership too. Can’t even log into their website now, apparently my account is locked. Been with RAC 10 years. Going to just add breakdown cover to my insurance from now on.

RAC worst breakdown service ever, all they want you to do is press the “I don’t need help anymore” on their website. There’s a long warning about if you dare to be angry about their terrible service they won’t attend and they’ll cancel your policy. They might as well for all the good it is. We waited from 15.00 until 12.00 the following day and they still didn’t show up. Whatever you do don’t breakdown at home and pay for homestart,useless organisation

If I could give 0 stars I would. Called up on the 13th dec am as car wouldn’t start and needed it for work 4 hours later. I’m a doctor and do house calls. Was told wouldn’t be a problem and that they would get to me in time but had to pay £200 upfront as I’m a new customer. Once I had paid looked at the ETA and was 3pm 6 hours minimum! Called them back was told no problem would would make me a priority, within 30 minutes had changed to 5pm! Then called them and asked could I just cancel it as I need to make alternative arrangements to start my car as I need it and cancel off the payment as it hadn’t gone out my bank yet was told yes, put me through to the Finance department who said would cancel the payment. The Day after £200 went out my account. After emailing (no response) speaking to the call handlers on 5 different occasions and the finance department a further time with each saying no problem Money will be refunded still hasn’t happened! On last phonecall guy says he’s made a complaint for me and they will call Me back within 24 hours and he will Send email straight over (no callback no emails at all have been sent despite being promised this numerous times!). They are now saying they can’t put me through to the finance department and can’t put me through to their boss or anyone to make a complaint! And that only way to get a refund with RAC now is to complain to an email address that never reply. They essentially steal your money avoid avoid avoid. I will be takingTo financial ombudsman in feb and posting everywhere I can find. Absolutely disgraceful worst customer service I have ever experienced. But the sheer lies and the stealing of customers money really is on a different level! I still haven’t even had 1 email From them despite assurances each time I called that they would send me an email with the details on!

Had a query with RAC approved garage - filled in complain to RAC with arguments,prove etc... RAC "investigation" basically was sending email to the garage and taking every single word of theirs for granted despite facts provided by myself. Conclusion : RAC is not there to make sure customers have fair deal. No. RAC is basically working as a shield to all kind of shady garages as long as they are paying their fee... RAC approved garage - major red flag from now.
