Unbelievably bad customer service. I cannot enter a new account as site takes me round and round in circles. People on phone say we have to do our enquiries on line but we can’t get our account to recognise us. Now we are trying to cancel the insurance policy (only held for two days) but no response to the phone. Avoid at all costs.

Broke down in a very dark wooded area with my daughter, was told so many different times of arrivals, reported about 6.30pm still no one at 10.30, also I was told could be up to 1.20 am, also that I had been on a priory because of where I was and had a child. Ridiculous waiting times, Gave up and cancelled, had to find my own recovery....! Awful service!

Complete waste of time! Called them at 6 PM, and they initially promised to arrive between 8:50 and 9:50 PM. Then, I received another message saying they wouldn’t be there until after 1:10 AM—far too late, so I had to cancel. Giving them another chance, I booked for 2 PM the next day, assuming their usual six-hour delay. They assured me they’d arrive by 2:20 PM, so I left work and rushed to my broken-down car. Then came a call—now it was 3:15 PM. Why am I still waiting at 3:30? Now time updated to say they’ll arrive at 4:50! An absolute waste of time. Avoid at all costs!

Terrible Service – Avoid RAC! Absolutely awful experience with RAC. My car broke down, and despite their policy stating they assess the vehicle first, they didn’t even look at it—just towed it straight to a Kwik Fit that doesn’t do repairs. Left completely stranded with no solution. When I asked them to tow it to a proper garage, they demanded an extra fee! I pay for breakdown cover, but RAC made my situation worse, not better. Unreliable, unhelpful, and a total waste of money. Avoid at all costs!

What on earth has happened to this once fantastic company ,i remember the engineers being so on the ball .Small waiting times but now it seems like an 8 hour wait is the norm.I have had 2 x experiances now where they have not responded, my Father in law who is 89 broke down on a very dangerous road ,just off this road was an RAC guy under a bonnet ,we rushed over and he said "When I Have finished here Mate i am off to Cheltenaham" (no help at all) even adding i suggest you ring up mate but it will more than likely be me they contact and i wont get back for 5 hours at the leastleast.Thats not the RAC i remember or now want to be part of.

Very bad, DO NOT USE RAC!! Call at 5.24pm, ended up at 2.30am, lots of calls, otherwise would have been 8.00am to 11.59am. Unbelievably bad!!!!

Booked a break down requested help at 5pm , continually given different times for engineers to arrive. At 10.30pm were told they were going to be with us at 1.30 am in the end we left our car un fixed on the side of the road. No apology no nothing they Truly did not care about us.

Over 4 hours to get to my daughter Lone female broke down before 7am traveling to early shift Guy who came out was fine but clearly said they're understaffed for amount of customers they take on.

I’ve been an RAC member for a long time and have experienced horrendous service recently with a service I purchased. I chose to go with them for a car inspection but needed to cancel the inspection the day before after an hour of booking it because my car dealership decided they suddenly wanted a £1,000 deposit which I didn’t have. I called RAC to cancel and finally got through at 12:20 just 20 minutes after the cut off time to cancel. They have cancelled it so I never got the service the next day yet they will not refund my money. It was not my fault I had to cancel it and 20 minutes over the cut off period is such a short time they could have done it as a gesture of goodwill. I will get my breakdown cover elsewhere from now on and I will NEVER go to RAC for any other product. The treatment I received is horrendous and I’m now out of pocket for a service I haven’t used.

Don`t let the RAC auto renew your policy. 25% increase in 1 year and my renewal is over double that of a new customer. Rip off.

My car broke down and I waited 24 hours before anyone showed up. I have been a member for years . I’m also disabled and have a blue badge. Luckily i wasn’t too far from home so got a taxi. Why does it take so long for assistance? Disgraceful. Iv cancelled my subscription 😡

I think it's a well known fact now both for members and RAC staff that the waiting time is an absolute disgrace (3 hours and motability vehicle) I would plead with people to go elsewhere for their breakdown 'service '

Broke down .. was given different times for attendance.. waiting waiting waiting ... then late at night had an update "saying all done .. happy to of helped" txt yet app update was saying attendance time 8pm yet it was now 11pm then a sorry we have had to cancel .. no phone call etc .. rang and was told it'll be tomorrow.. when they came he opened bonnet and said fanbelt even thought it was having problems starting and nothing happening on gas throttle and he left .. had a mechanic look at it who changed belt straight away then found the fuel pump was the problem aswell .. car is not worth fixing .. rang to cancel policy and a rude woman said I owe them £70 for call out .. wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor as all "in a meeting" ... utterly useless and very much out of pocket...

Joined in October 2024 paid monthly still waiting for documents!! Windscreen wipers packed up and they refused to attend even though it is raining. will be cancelling,very poor service.

I been with rac over 10 years a good loyal customer I was paying £19 a month for 12 months then no reminder letter they started the next 12 months at £35 a month I cancelled better deal with aa I cancelled with 14 days I’m getting threatening letters demand for payment they say minimum payment needs to be paid just had 2 letters 2 different so called minimum payments total £135 disgusting company I will never be using them again

Joined in Sept 2021 over the phone naming my 2 commercial vehicles auto renew Sept 2023 to September 2025. 1 call out and attended in 2024 however January 2025 I call them out and am told you are not covered for your vehicles. I speak to rac and told that's not right and he says I'm cancelling your policy, I say shall I complain he says yes. I then receive a threatening, intimidating and unlawful Demand for Payment letter from Managing Director Andy Baker saying that debt collector will visit my home before they have even won legal proceedings or even legal proceedings have begun. Disgraceful behaviour!!!

Called rac on 25 jan 25 when they turned up was told battery was flat,rac man said lock had been changed by previous owner as key wouldn't turn in lock.called lock smith to gain access when lock smith arrived he sprayed lock put key in and opened door in less than 2 minutes changed me £180 phoned rac back on 26 jan and paid £349.99 over the phone for new battery rac arrived and said they had charged to much for battery and battery was only £270 so I phoned rac back and explained they said they would put £349.99 back in my account within 3 days instead of just giving me back £80 that they have over changed then refused to replace battery because I wouldn't pay £270 for battery when I had already paid £349.99 ( which i had to wait 3 days to get back this is disgusting)
