Despite top of the range cover - I have been waiting roadside fir 4 hours and still no updates or courtesy call. I wish I can cancel my cover.

Renault assist cover. Rang 12.30 pm. Several changes of times coming to you. 17.10 we are busy and can’t come until tomorrow! Just because I got it home I walk with a stick and needed my car. Just because your are at home, the car is still broken and you buy it to use it. Thank heavens I have retired or I would have missed work. But I do rely on it for my mobility (that is why we buy them). Shocking service.

Avoid RAC like the Plague, their cover isn't worth the paper it's written on. After a breakdown with their Advanced cover we were left waiting with an estimated time of arrival of 9 hours. When we did receive a call from the repair vehicle we were informed that despite having their Advanced cover we would be charged £180 for a tow only 10 miles away. After putting in a complaint we received a response back telling us to refer to their terms and conditions.

If I could give zero i would. Awful service following a breakdown as a women with my children were left waiting for 6 and half hours before a local recovery truck came to collect the car. Thankfully a police lady came and drove us to our caravan so we werent left roadside. As this happened on a Sat, I was left stranded on holiday and to top it all they automatically took my car to a garage near my home without telling me or offering me a lift meaning I was stuck an hour away. I had to spend extra money to stay another night. No onwards travel offered, no hire car or curtesy car available. Had to get a taxi home (thankfully paid for by lease firm). Customer service from moment calling for recovery was shocking, unhelpful. Communication poor at best. I would never use RAC.

My membership auto renewed, jumping from £150 to £220. I only noticed when they took the money from my account which they took after the 14 day cooling down period and then wanted to charge a cancellation fee. Left my on hold repeatidly while i tried to cancel my memebership, presumably hoping id give up. Even then I had to repeatedly say that I wanted to cancel before they would consider it A bunch of crooks and not the respect institution of old

They gave me a quote for my new car but said I had to wait till I got to the garage to pick up the car before they could give me a definite price for insuring the car this quote turned out to be £30 more than the original I felt I was being pressured to pay a higher price or leave my car at the garage

As a UK company, I am shocked to see that on the RAC maps you refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. At least on the US sites they referred to as the Gulf of Mexico appalling behaviour.

this story is back in 2021 but it's still worth sharing. Injector pump broke, we waited for an hour stuck on the M25 before we were towed to the Cobbam services, waited 7 hours for a recovery truck, none came, had to get a taxi, we had young people on board, they did not care that my epipens were on board, recieved the car at 5am the next day. horrible service. Switched to green flag

Called rac out at 1:45pm, as battery flat had a time given of 3:10 to 4:10, then 4pm till 5pm, then at 3:30 it went to 5:40pm till 7:40pm!!, i was horrified and needed to get home to cook for my disabled daughter, ended up walking to halfords, who kindly lent me a portable jump starter, then drove round and they tested the battery and fitted new and were a godsend, im now wandering why I have breakdown if the wait is potentially 6 hours!

The worst app I have ever used. Tell’s me the arrival is either 3 hours in the future or even more mad it is telling me help will arrive before I asked for a call out. Phone service is also rude and useless. Regret already leaving the AA

Don’t bother, honestly terrible. Have been with RAC over 30 years. Broke down just off motorway In Birmingham. Waited hours and then got txt to say even more hours. Got private garage in the end . Terrible.,you can’t even speak to them now ! My husband tried to call them . Ridiculous, just cancelled dd .

Got a puncture on my motorcycle with my 14yr old, tyre split so not repairable. This happened at 16:30 waited 8 hours to be recovered by a 3rd party!! Then they tried to get out it by saying that as I’d obviously ran over a flint or something it may be classed as an accident!! Totally unacceptable

Battery died while I was visiting my son. Reported the breakdown at 1530 hrs ,I was given a time of between 1750 and 1950 hrs. No one arrived and then I was allocated a new time of 2320 and 0220 . I was then contacted and asked if I would leave it until the following morning. My son had to take me home and meet the RAC guy when he turned up at 1030 hrs. The best part of the whole thing was the RAC mechanic who sourced and fitted a new battery. Don’t bother complaining because I’ve been through that after a previous breakdown . They refer you to an “ independent adjudicator who is as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

My vehicle breakdown at 6:30pm called RAC they said I have to wait btw 5 to 8hrs before anyone can get to me, and this was in London .. I waited and waited .. it was just a joke . I have to know pay for my own tow truck after 4hrs of waiting

After 30 years with the RAC I need to cancel my membership. You abandoned my wife and three children when her car broke down. I spent 15 hours overnight in a cold car park waiting for you. Each time I called you, you gave me a different story about how assistance was on its way, but none of them were true. We first called you at 6pm. I finally got a tow home at 9am. How do I get a refund please?

Booked at 8pm and given a slot of 11.30 - 2am . Just cancelled it and will get someone out tomorrow. Waste of time.

My partner and his employee have been left stranded for 9 hours, when the rac knew very well that nobody was going to rescue them in a timey fashion, therefore taking away any option of collection from anyone else, or a hire car, it is freezing and they have been left in a vehicle they've been told to stay by ,, with no heat, no belongings as they were working , he has been told there is a possibility of a hotel if its in walking distance, he's incurred a parking ticket, and will lose thousands of pounds this week in revenue. Not so much as an apology
