It was frustrating trying to get through it with all the 'ads' crowding the course. They were very distracting and slowed down my responses. It was also way too time consuming of a course when most of it wasn't even on the test. Our power went off for a bit and that also slowed down the process. Although it was informative, there was too much repetative information. Some of the courses could not open so I had to go to the utube version, which also took up extra time. I am also unable to download the temporary card from the website.

I did like the layout of the course and exam, the only downfall was to my knowledge the $50.00 covered the 50 question exam only and I had studied well in advance so having to go through the lengthy course was a huge waste of time and very repetitive. It should be advertised to all that are wanting to take the exam that it is now a course/exam so every knows that it has changed from going into a sports store to do a written exam.

I think that if you got an 70% on the manuals you can get a retake on the test

The course is very informative, offers different learning options (reading, listening, visualizing) but is extremely long. The final test was difficult, as it had some random questions, instead of being based on the most important things to know. It should be divided into modules, so we can refer back to the manual (if we have one). If not, there should be a way to go back to the online modules to review content. Finally, when answering each module quiz, we should be told which answers were wrong in order to learn from our mistakes. As for recommending Boatsmart, it’s not a choice so the question isn’t pertinent.

Too much repetition, modules are too long, it shouldnt take so long to complete the course. And some material is not necessary for the common boater to know.

It's good that boaters are familiar with all the information your course provides. Having onboard a study guide for reference with ready checklists should be mandatory. As a commercial pilot, I cannot overemphasize the value of checklists. However, for practical purposes, with your current study format, the student suffers from information overload and the sample test questions are occasionally irrelevant. Eg; Is it important for the boater to know under which body of law [criminal code or some other] he/she is to be charged or simply that an act is illegal. Or, what the first sign of "cold water shock" is ["deep and sudden gasp etc.] rather than the clinical term for this symptom [cold shock]. Wrong answers should be identified to ensure future compliance. With this in mind, your training should be simplified and test questions should concentrate on what the immediate action should be taken to avoid catastrophe rather than identifying the nomenclature of such maladies and their subsequent phases. Non essential information should italicized or placed in an addendum. An online source to download and print checklists for individual crafts may prove an complementary aid to waterway safety.

Not sure, but there seems to be a lot of irrelevant information. I read the entire boatsmart study guide and did all the practise exercises. Then I discovered that I had to do the entire process over again online because I wanted to take the exam on line. I spent twice as much time to get this license. You should say very clearly at the beginning to do everything online if you want to do the exam online. I would warn anyone I spoke to about doing everything online so that they would not waste their time.

It’s a good course if you know nothing what so ever about anything but it is painful to endure if you already know he content and just need to get your license. The support from customer service was reall great when we needed it.

I am happy to have completed the test but it was a very long system instead of haveing everything spaced out they should put related subjects in 1 video

I think it’s good that you covered all topics but maybe show people what they got wrong on the end of module quizzes so you could see what you need to improve on

It is excessive and far more than it should be

Great course, very impressive videos. Con: You should be able to skip material that you are already familiar with rather than having to wait for the video play. Video length is a bit longer than it will take you to read, for should give the option of reading and/or video.

I would like to see a review of the questions I got wrong, otherwise I go forward with the wrong information. And to have to go through ALL of the module to redo the test is exasperating.

I am giving an acceptable rating only because I know the course is needed. BUT, I think it should be done differently. There should be a basic course for people like me, that are just going to putter around a lake, in a fishing boat. Then if a person wants to go into the ocean, or locks, then they should take a course for that. Plus, the mandatory lessons are WAY too long!

I dont think it needed to be that long some unnecessary stuff

Certain questions on the final test were not covered by the course. When taking the course, the pertinent content that will likely be on the test isn't highlighted. This makes it difficult as the vital information is hidden between long stretches of fairly basic, common sense information making everything more difficult and a bit tedious.

The content is repetitive and time consuming and the questions are not ind Active of knowledge of material. Questions and content are confusing due to unnecessary repetition.
