“The course and test was good, but I was told by a rep at Canadian Tire that I should buy the book along with the online test because I saved $10. He did not tell me that the online course makes you watch a video of each chapter of the book and doesn't allow you to fast foward. So I studied my hard copy book for almost two weeks and did the practice tests then I went to write my test only to find I had to go through every single before it would let me do the test! So DO NOT READ THE BOOK before doing the online course. There's no need to The videos are detailed and well done. Book is good to keep if you need to reference later.”

“Some of the timing is off. For example I recall a few 1 or 2 sentence slides that had an imposed wait of a minute or two. Otherwise the course seemed quite good.”

“I stll did not s pass test i am hoping next week i will pass 6 hours is to long for one day to learn and pass the test. Because job what i am now work i dont have time to do it so my vacation is closin in so i will take a test”

“Some videos/informations are very repetitive and some modules are too long. Shorter modules, but more modules may keep the students attention longer and presented information may seem to be more relevant and refreshing. Great course overall.”

“Very good course. It ensures that you pay attention and know your modules. If you fail the test you have to complete the entire module again. One thing I would recommend is taking some of the modules and breaking them up into smaller modules.”

“I purchased the Boatsmart book which came with the online course. I thought the online course was very informational for a beginner and I like how the modules also gave interactive videos explaining various themes that the user was learning during each module. I would of given the online course a perfect 10 but I found to complete all of the separate modules can be some time consuming. A user could probably do all of the modules over the course of one weekend but would probably take up the whole weekend if you did the modules all day, everyday from a Friday to the Sunday. I personally had to break it up over the course of 3-4 weekends due to other priorities.”

“Boatsmart was a lot more in depth then I thought it would be. ( No pun intended ) A good starting point for anyone who wants to buy their first boat or somebody that hasn't owned a boat for a long time. The online course took a few hours to complete because of long videos. I found it disappointing if you had to review the entire video because you failed to pass the exam in a particular section of the course. Shorter videos would make more sense and move things along much faster.”

“this course is VERY informative and you learn A LOT it just takes a long time to get through the modules I wish they weren't timed I'm a fast reader so that was a bit frustrating but overall a good experience getting my boating license through boatsmart!”

“The course was well laid out however the ability to fast forward to the quiz was not possible, you have to move through each video or slide regardless if you had the book. The course content itself (no fault to Boatsmart) appeared to be focused on ocean or great lake regulations and actions, specifically many lakes in AB, BC and SK do not have the size or markings that were so heavily taught in the program.”

“Alot of info for large vessels... To me that should be its own license.. Like driving a school bus or transport. A lot of useless unformation that people will never remember. Keep to the basics, safety, management, gear, in the event of an accident stuff .. Just my opinion”

“While the program is good, it seems a little over the top for someone who wants to ride a seadoo in a lake. This is especially true given that any yahoo can rent a seadoo or boat and is not required to have a license or go through the course...how does that make any sense? The course itself was well laid out, but again is a huge time commitment. Thank you”

I am thinking if you could add something to help a new boaters to buy the first boat and more information about the engine inboard outboard etc. Although if possible to mention some recommended names for dealership or mechanic to do service And some tips to make easy for us to choose the first boat .”
