I found the course to be well planned and easy to follow the material. I did have some issues with the images not appearing on the screen for about 20% of the course. Often hitting the refresh button loaded the image but not always. When the image failed to load I simply reviewed the written material and moved on to the next page. I usually shut off the audio content and read through the material on my own.

It was easy to use and guided one through the 'need to know' areas. Nice to work at own rate. Noted one error in the book (picture) in which the red/green lights on bow were reversed :)

I appreciate the excessive information however once you have failed a module once I found the timers on the webpages extremely annoying. They're just time consuming the second time around.

If you don't pass the test you should be able to just try it again and not have to go through all the modules again. You should be able to read the module at your own pace and not have to wait for the time to expire to move forward.

Easy to follow, I'm happy

Found it took so long. I could read the information very quickly and was ready to move forward but had to let it run out the requisite time. Ended up doing other chores simultaneously and running back to the course. Allow people who read quickly to move forward at their own pace.

My girlfriend and I found that taking the lessons was very informative, I needed to use the skills i learned the very first time out on our own, The course most likely saved the two of our lives. Having no idea at first what to have on board as of safety gear, Not taking the course would've led to serious injury and or death. Our first time out on our newly purchased second hand boat started off fun and exciting. 2 hours into our fishing trip i noticed we were quite far from shore and i had asked her if we should start up and get a little closer, unknown to the both of us our boat was very second hand and were a drift in the water and couldn't get out outboard started. We stayed calm and went over what we had learned, We both knew that when we left our campsite we had an arranged check in time and had left a general direction of our trip. I secured the anchor to the bow {i only bought the anchor that morning} placed the anchor in to the water the way i seen in the lessons, 50 foot rope in 10 water, It grabbed the bottom and faced the waves and stopped us very nicely and smoothly. put on some sunscreen, stayed hydrated and just kept fishing...we knew our check in time was approaching quickly and we were safely anchored and not floating anywhere dangerous. 15 minutes after our check in time we had some neighbors find us in the direction we had told., towed us home and we are fine..and it was still a very fun trip because we took the course. I really believe it could a been a lot worse, feel free to share my story

Almost perfect system. It took about 4 hrs to watch the videos and do unit quizzes. Took 15 minutes to write the open book test that they allow 75 minutes for. Did not have the book but still got 100%. Found my new knowledge on buoys super useful on my 500 km trip through the great lakes that started the next day. Some would say perfect learning system. Well, almost. Only complaint is that they don't tell you which questions you get wrong on the 5 unit quizzes. So no way to ensure that you learn the missed elements. I got between 80 and 100% on the unit quizzes but did not have any idea of which questions I had wrong going into the final test. I guess I just got lucky and they did not ask the ones I got wrong. But I would likely be a more knowledgeable and safer boater, if I could have learned the correct answers to the missed questions. If not for this one issue, I would have scored this review Very Good and 10.

Take a break after every module. Walk around the house. Have a snack. It takes 4 hours so don't try to do it all in one sitting.

The course offers very helpful information, but as you become a boater there are additional items that I find could have assisted me further. Focusing more on the buoyants and there definitions and what to safely do around them, specifically coming out of channels, maybe more helpful for first time boaters getting out on the waterways. But very informative and helpful.

There were sections of the lesson where the sound did not appear and therefore you had to read. The lesson would also freeze up numerous times and you would have to go back to the previous screen and watch that again to continue. I am a 50 year experienced boater but I learned a lot from the course. It was very extensive and educational. Suggestion would be after a person passed the entire exam display those questions that a person got wrong. If they got a question wrong there is no way to know what the correct answer would be. After all it is supposed to be educational.

I Really liked how I could do it on my own time. The only thing I didn't like, was the test you didn't know what you missed so you would know what you did wrong. If you would show what you missed I think it would be 100% great.

It is a good course...however it would have been nice to be told which questions I had gotten wrong on the final exam and the correct answers!

The course and test was good, but I was told by a rep at Canadian Tire that I should buy the book along with the online test because I saved $10. He did not tell me that the online course makes you watch a video of each chapter of the book and doesn't allow you to fast foward. So I studied my hard copy book for almost two weeks and did the practice tests then I went to write my test only to find I had to go through every single before it would let me do the test! So DO NOT READ THE BOOK before doing the online course. There's no need to The videos are detailed and well done. Book is good to keep if you need to reference later.
