Course is a bit slow and painful, but if you pay attention you'll pass the test. Helps a lot to have the book beside you while you're writing quizs in case you drift off...

Modules were good . Even though a little lengthy all important issues you need when entering the waterways. All good

Boatsmart gave me a lot of useful information that will help me be a more confident boater.

Is there anyway to make this course a bit less than excruciatingly boring? And all those buoys! Yikes, it is a sure test of your memory

Easy to use web site. Would be good if you could go back after your test and see which questions you got wrong. And see which was the right answer.

I thought the modules where lengthy but very informative. My only regret is o didn't get my whole family to do it too. The test had a couple impossible questions but all in all common sense should get you a relatively high score. I got a 94% which I was a bit surprised I scored that high but like I said common sense.

Very informative. Made the final exam seem easy.

Great comprehensive delivery of content. What I did not like was the fact if you did not pass a quiz, I was not able to review the whole module at my leisure but had to go through every timed step. This added considerable time to complete the course. I spent over 27 hours on it!!! It would also be nice to know what answers I had incorrect in the quiz. This way I can focus on my learning needs for each module. I can learn from my mistakes and understand why the answer I picked was wrong. Hope this helps you enhance the great course offered.

Easy and convenient! Loved how you could stop and take off again without loosing your spot.

Certainly covers what you need to know to pass the test, but the little timers that won't let you advance to the next slide until some random amount of time has passed (that has nothing to do with the amount of time it takes to read the text, watch the video, or listen to the audio) get incredibly irritating after a while. The course could probably be completed in 30-50% less time without the idiotic timers.

Hi there, We understand the timers can be frustrating for quick readers, but they are required by NASBLA and Transport Canada to ensure all students take the time to truly read and understand the information. All course providers have the same time requirements.

I like learning new courses especially related to keeping other people safe. I practiced the quizzes on each section probably at least 5 times. I do feel a lot of the questions did not show up in the quizzes as on the final test. I did go back and try to make sure if I was not comfortable on a question to review it. As I was taking the final test got very nervous I would not pass as the questions I thought quite different.

great videos! very helpful, some of the larger sections would be a lot better and a lot more helpful. that way it would be a lot easier to remember the stuff. but all in all great experience.

Just a couple of minor suggestions. Noticed a spelling mistakes in the on-line course. Can't recall where, but the word 'following' was spelt 'fallowing'. In Module 7, Overboard Rescue Techniques, would it be worthwhile to mention another tip to get the victim from the water (at the side of the boat) into the boat by 'bouncing' the person up and down a few times, and at the apex of their highest 'bounce', would be the better opportunity to haul them inboard. Just a thought.....

Very detailed. Good visuals. Some questions on my final exam were not covered though. I passed anyway.

BOATsmart was a good course that was easy to follow. I do think that certain timed slides could be joined with other slides to shorten the amount of time spent doing the course. Some people read faster than others and don't use the videos so waiting for the slides to time out was annoying sometimes. All in all I liked the course and will be telling my family and friends about it.

It was easy to follow, and it was nice having videos to learn. It was great when I did not feel like reading a computer screen after a day of work in the office.

Boatsmart's program was very efficient when educating me about boat use and safety, however the only thing I had found redundant was the way an unpassed quiz would cause the learner to have re-learn known material, perhaps a method to help this matter would be too change the format of the chapter after a student had in not passed a test to allow a no timer so that they can move to areas they need quicker.

Many things about BOATsmart are great - totally full of information, nicely presented for different learning styles with read it, hear it, see it. I learned so much. I would totally recommend this program for someone wanting to learn. (Having said that, some of it was really too much information for a small pleasure craft operator to need to know, and a number of modules contained way too many slides - they ranged from like 7 to over 50?!) There are also many frustrating features as well. The worst for me was that I was forced to go through at BOATsmart's order rather than being able to choose sections I needed to learn. Most frustrating was when I failed to get 8/10 on the test and had to repeat the entire 52 slides, in order! The test questions are obviously randomly generated by a computer program and many times I felt they were about obscure, minute little points and not the big picture questions. That too was frustrating. So, I would not recommend BOATsmart as the easiest way to get a boating license. Thanks for asking for feedback; I hope you act upon it.

I was very pleased with the animations and that there were videos rather than reading. My only complaint would be that the voice of the videos was very bland and boring.
