The course was good, the videos were informative and I learned some very useful stuff. HOWEVER, I was very frustrated during the quizzes. It happened very frequently where I would select an answer and click "next question" and it would think I was trying to skip to the next question when I had it answered! And if I refreshed the page, it would take me back to question 1! One time it happened when I was on question 8, it took me to a page that told me I got a 70%, and it made me do the whole module again. I thought it was a connection issue, but my internet's fine.

It was convienient to do omline...only issue i had was HOW LONG it took to go through all the videos and whatnot....as i already studied the book and already knew 90% of the info. There should be a choice to directly take or "challenge" the test for the people who dont have 4 to 6 hours to do the test. Other than that it was very informative and i actually learned something😊

HI Geoffrey, Thanks for your review. We understand the test can take awhile for some students, but the time requirements and quizzes are required by Transport Canada (or NASBLA) to ensure all students are able to fully understand all content. The timed requirements are the same across all course providers, and - like you experienced - we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting. Thanks for sticking with it, and safe boating!

Able to navigate the website easily but some of the quiz questions were very ambiguous

Good course but it seems to be directed more towards boating in lakes. I live on the eastern shore of nova Scotia and we are always in the ocean. Should have more for that aspect.

Maybe have a skill rated program. Alot of time wasted with common sense stuff.

Would be nice to know what questions you got wrong to be able to review the right answers.

I got all the necessary info for boat operation What might be interesting is having the information playing to the right and the explanation on the left. This way you could highlight things that you find mportant, want to remember, etc.

Didn't was way to long and way to much stuff that is not relevant for use in small lakes and so forth like all the bouys and that stuff

I would like to know where I went wrong on quiz's and the same for the TC test where I had 2 wrong but which ones? I thought that the material could have been covered more quickly with appropriate emphasis on the important points, otherwise, it gave me all the necessary information. I think it is strange that the Starboard/Port Hand Buoys are only discussed in upriver mode. I think that the opposite point, downriver should be covered at the beginning of the section.

- Easy to use - Content was at the appropriate level - Ability to test until you pass

It was easy to follow. I wish there was a way of making it more provincial and federal. Being a very casual boater in Saskatchewan with no way or reason of boating or navigating a shipping lane it would be nice to make it more geared towards the boating I will be doping.

I found that a lot of the questions were unnecessary.

I think that BOATsmart could be improved by offering the option to watch the lessons in a module complete from start to finish without having to separately start each (roughly 1 minute long) lesson. This is a very annoying feature of your course that could be improved upon. The course is otherwise well run and the visual lessons/examples were very illustrative and helpful.

The experience could have been improved by: 1. increasing the size of the forward and back arrows to navigate to the next lesson 2. reducing the size of the video tutorial - for those that want to read it was inefficient to have to scroll past it each time. 3. time per lesson is too long in almost all of modules 1 through to 5. In 5 to 7 some were a little too short. 4. The light grey "share" screen interfered with navigating between lessons. This should be removed.
