When it was done. It was way too long. And it seemed like 90% of the course content doesn't apply to me as a canoer on a land locked lake.

Taking this course didn't make me happy but I understand the concept although it is too slow and long covering items that might not apply to everyone.

Great info on proper boat usage. Way to long for writing a test

The course content was really informative and I liked how there was videos to watch for each module. It linked to info to real life scenarios.

I didn't have to go anywhere to do this

it was too long and drawn out. A lot of repetition of the same topic.

Good information but far too much detail. I don't feel that the course should be telling me to wear a hat. My driver's licence course doesn't tell me to wear sunglasses if it's sunny.

I have mixed feedback. The videos were very well done and explained the topic, but having a timer so that you must remain on that chapter was very annoying. I can understand that the objective is to ensure the person taking the program has enough time to absorb the topic, but some of the chapters are very simple and I feel it would have been enough to allow the viewer to simply click next to the see the next chapter, especially for topics that are common sense like drinking alcohol. Each module quiz was very useful, and covered all the main topics that should have been learned in that module. However, I found some questions in the final exam were not discussed in any of the training modules. Perhaps this is a technique that the government exam uses, to throw in some questions that might be more common sense, rather than something that is "in the book", but this goes to the point about forcing each video to be watched on a timer might not be effective. Overall, this training was worth taking and I did learn about boating and was able to successfully pass the exam on my first take.

Some challenges respecting YouTube vision learning, It was necessary for me to reactivate (backup one level of learning) every time I wished to progress to the next session. Other than that, I was impressed respecting the overall content.

goes over a lot of stuff but a lot of it was of no use. The need to separate courses for smaller pleasure craft operators

I feel the BOATsmart test was made to trick people. I passed the test but did not feel that the questions were in line with the course learnings.

Nice to be able to do this in a few hours from home, but the timers on the info pages are terribly restrictive . Often a page with only a few lines of text would come up, it'd take only a few seconds to read it, but the timer would insist I wait another 50 seconds before it would allow me to view the next page.

Hi Kevan - thanks for taking time to leave a review. We understand the test can take awhile for some students, but the timer requirements are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure all students are able to fully understand all content. The timed requirements are the same across all course providers, and we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting. Thanks for sticking with it, and safe boating!

Lessons were very long and tests over complicated. Many questions from the exam contained matters that were not covered in the lessons. Having to wait a certain amount of time for each page is not a good thing and can sometimes be frustrating. We should be able to go through the pages at our own rhythm.

I would have liked to have known what answers I got wrong on the quizzes in order to have been corrected before the exam. In addition, there were questions on the quizzes that were not covered in the specific material until subsequent modules
