It was finally over

Was a good one stop spot to get certified. However. There needs to be a system to fast forward thru stuff you already know. Would have cut time by a third. Another thing that occured a couple times is questions came up that weren’t mentioned until a following module.

It made me very comfortable around huge ships.

I would not be likely to recommend Boatsmart online. I would encourage anyone that I know to take the test at a pop up location in their community.

Thanks for taking time to leave feedback Richard. We definitely offer in-person exams throughout the year. We understand the online course can take a while for some students, but the time requirements and quizzes are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure students of all reading levels are able to fully understand all content. We find most students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, in an open book format - with unlimited retries on the exam. Thanks for sticking with it and safe boating!

Videos are poorly timed with sections and text, though all information is there.

Would have given higher rating if not for 2 things. 1. It would have been nice to be asked if the following options were available. - If print manual was read. Therefore, I don't have to take the online course and go right to the final test. The online course is word for word as the print manual. Time wasted. -For ONLINE MODULE TESTS. It would be nice to know which answers were wrong, therefore if you don't have print manual handy you have go through the whole module all over again instead of to the specific area of question. 2. It would be nice to know which questions were wrong in the FINAL TEST. Knowing which questions were wrong would enable boater to know something that would be important in the operation of a boat. (ie. navigation, markers etc.)

I spent 4 1/2 hours completing the modules. I would have completed the modules more quickly if I could have set my own pace but I had to wait after almost every lesson because of the mandatory minimum timing. I found that frustrating.

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback Deborah. We definitely understand the timers can be frustrating for quick readers, but they are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA, since the course and test are online, open book and unsupervised. This ensure readers of all levels have the time to completely review the material. Thanks for sticking with it and congrats on passing!!

All in all a fair way to impart information. The quizzes were useful. Very disappointed in the all inclusive country we live in that every face in every module was white. There is no ethnic diversity whatsoever.

I would be helpful to know, during the quizzes, what answers were incorrect.

Videos were great and all, but some of them were a waste of time, and not being able to skip forward through stuff I know was super frustrating. I mean I do fire extinguisher training every year for work, that alone would have saved be 15 minutes alone. So it took me a lot of extra time. I could have done it in half the time and learned the material way better…

Actually, it really didn't! Had to spend a lot of time on modules that contained no information that was relevant to the boating I have done, do now or intend to do.

too long of a process on each module. I am a very fast reader and I found the experience quite painful if I am to be honest.

Covered most of the material on the exam. The timer on each slide was usually too long but I guess they have to meet a minimum time requirement.
