Far too detailed for the basic boater. It prevents some from even attempting it, especially those with a dingy and a little electric motor that also have to have a boater's license. A suggestion would be to have "the basic know how" for every boater (eg port/starboard/green light/red light/ red buoy on right/ green buoy on left) collected together in one module. All your other modules could expand on the "skeleton basics". That way a person could concentrate completely on what applies individually to their own immediate particular circumstances and then expand to know what is expected for those with bigger boats, etc. Also the time mandated thing doesn't always coincide with the timing of the voice. The vocal is finished but the timer isn't and vise versa. Some screens would not display either. Thank you though : )

I appreciated being able to do a self study approach. I found the time based approach of the modules frustrating, and the loading time, made each section sometimes take up to twice as long. So it took longer than I would have liked to spend. It would be nice for the quizzes to see your results as a learning tool

Would have loved to of skipped what I already knew from reading the book before the course. Other then that, I had my boating licence within 3.5 hours :)

The technology is great. I understand that much of the process is mandated by the government, but the experience was simply too onerous. I think my actual online time was 6 hours, but once I got a feel for the line of questioning I started making notes, which saved me. I found the module questions far more tricky that the test. The test was intuitive and did a good job of testing knowledge. The module questions pretty much forced you to pour through your notes. If there is a study guide that would help it wasn't obvious, though there seemed to be when I googled one of the module questions... I believe the overall process is a significant disincentive that limits the number of people who can get a license.

it was straightforward for most of the lessons, but some of the quiz questions related to material provided in lessons not covered. It was very, very dry.

Boatsmart made me happy because there were very good videos that were tied to the lessons. It made it easier to visualize and understand the lessons. What I didn't like was listening to the same guys' voice over and over ... starts to grind on you after a while. Mostly, could not stand the fact that I had to redo the whole module if I failed the test. I have done many online training courses for my line of work and it is unacceptable that you need to start over from the beginning of a 52 lesson module if you don't get 8/10 questions right. Maybe offer a second rewrite before having to redo the module again. I was a person who actually did sit down and listen to your lessons but didn't appreciate the fact that I had to sit through multiple minutes of hitting "next lesson" just to be able to re-write the quiz. Please also show the questions that I gave a wrong answer to so I could learn from my mistakes.

This was super easy, but the timer blocking you from accessing the next page was terrible! I'd finish reading and then be forced to wait 20+ seconds until it unlocked. I understand it works to dissuade from skipping through to the final exam, but the timer made learning extremely tiresome. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to shorten it to 5, or 10 seconds, so as to prevent skipping while not making it /agonizing/. love u

I liked the videos. They were helpful but I wish if you failed a quiz you could just go back and redo it without having so go through the entire module again.

I was already familiar with the boating regulations from reading a printed copy. I found the material repetitive (covering the same topic several times) and the time allotted for reading each section in some cases, at least twice as long as required. Please review the reading time requirements (I suspect they are based on the video length, and not the printed material).

Had a lot of information and easy to follow along based on the narrator. The time it takes to load each video is very time consuming and would be better if it just went through each slide automatically. That would probably cut the time down in half

I like the layout o the site just needs and option for if you read the book or watched the videos with a friend so you do bot need to watch them again

Not much. I read waaaaay faster than the allowed time. It was like watching paint dry and I was pretty miserable by the end.

Thanks for taking time to leave feedback Tawny. We understand the test can take awhile for some students, but the time requirements and quizzes are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure students of all reading levels are able to fully understand all content. The timed requirements are the same across all course providers, and we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting. Thanks for sticking with it, and safe boating!

Had a great experience with this exam with one exception. On module 2 I failed the quizz and had to redo the whole module. Now in some that not bad but this one was quite long. I can understand that I failed the quizz but o know where I went wrong and should have been able to revisit those areas and redo quizz. But otherwise great program.

Course was short, but every time I pause the video, the ads cover the screen. Which makes me to rewatch the video over and over. Over all great experience. Thanks

The modules are way too long. Maybe try reducing the time per lesson? I felt that some of the info was revlevant to actual boat owners vs persons operating a craft. A lot of questions seems redundant. Otherwise I see this how this test is useful and important.
