Appreciated the safety information. Easy to follow online modules. Unfortunately some quiz questions did not match the module, timing of modules off at times making the process slower than necessary. The time commitment needed to complete the 7 modules should be shared at the beginning to be able to budget one’s time. Exam questions in general matches the course content. A couple of questions were not covered.

The course content was very good. Material was often repeated through the modules which made for a very long completion time. Took me about 5 hours and I went through it pretty quickly!

Passed the test. The timed modules are a pain in the ass because I read quickly which makes waiting 2 mins to move on really irritating.

Boat smart gives very good explanations and prepares you for the exam. However, it is way to repetitive and takes too long to complete.

I think there should be an option to do quizzes and exam without the course as it is really slow and I was already knowledgeable about the material. It would be nice to see what you get wrong.

Course information was great and each module mirrored the information learned....but the exam was unnecessarily difficult not to mention ambiguous when testing ones newly learned knowledge. The short time limit to complete the exam didn't allow enough time for the amount of "altered" information\question seemed incentive to all learning needs. Time limits can cause much anxiety and some learners\students need exceptions to this rigid timeline. Lastly the majority of the exam is directed to LARGE \OCEAN waters which seems to neglect islanders needs.

It tonight me alot about boating and safety. Being a person that didn't grow up with boating, this was very beneficial to me. The only constructive part I would submit is that the YouTube videos are super helpful for me to learn with the animation. It would be great if they worked for each component. I have a harder time retaining info when I'm just reading it or hearing it only. The visual image really helps when it's describing each part. Thank you for making this easy to access and online is the best! I hate sitting in classrooms as other people can be destracring and there was alot to learn!

I Got this on sale. Should let you skip and try the test without watching every slide. Going boating.

It’s to bad that you don’t get to know the questions you get wrong so you learn the right answers to make you a better boater.

this would a ton better for time if you could get to the next lesson as soon as the recording was done. A lot of wasted time.

I think it was good information I just wish it didn't take so long. I also wish they weren't timed pages because I read way faster than they gave.

Thanks for your review. We understand the test can take a while for some students, but the time requirements and quizzes are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure all students are able to fully understand all content. The timed requirements are the same across all course providers, and we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting. Thanks for sticking with it, and safe boating!

Mostly OK, but noticed several factual errors: 1) The blood alcohol concentration limit is incorrectly reported in units of milligrams (mg). This is not a unit of alcohol concentration in blood. If you say 5 mg per liter of blood, or 5 %, or 5 parts per billion, these are units of concentration, but 5 mg is not. 2) If the module that discusses recommended boat speeds, the audio narrative refers to a distance of 1.6 km as a nautical mile, but this is a land mile, not a nautical mile, which is 1.85 km. The audio text and the visuals are in disagreement. 3) The module on navigation aids shows a diagram illustrating different types of signs that may be posted on shorelines. One of those is identified as standardized speed limit sign, but in the figure, the sign shown is a sign for engine power limit (Max kW),not speed limit (Max km/h). Also, the emergency module should show the best techniques for safely hauling a person back on board a small craft, such as boat with low gunwales, or an inflatable boat. Right now this is missing from the course, and it is particularly crucial to know this.

Sorry, but I thought it took a little too long, and you don’t learn from your unknown mistakes.

Content was clear, information easy to follow. However, a comment as to the illustrations of the woman on the “filing a trip plan” portion. Was it completely necessary to illustrate her in a tiny bikini with rather large animated breasts? Offensive and comical to female (and male) participants for what possible reason to illustrate her in this light. Not too impressed.

It was informative if a little dry. It would be great if there was no mandatory time required or at least if that time was greatly reduced. After reading through there was a lot of time that needed to be counted down before the next module.
