“I very much enjoyed being able to access it from multiple platforms - computer or phone. What I didn’t like was the mandatory time limit on each page. I’m a quick reader and was reading all the pages. Waiting an extra thirty seconds or so on a page with no new info to me resulted in me taking a very long time to get through the material.”

“Now that I managed to get my operator card I can launch my boat without having to worry if a police boat is on the lake. I think the way the course is made up is excellent for people like me who sometimes find it difficult to sit and do the course all at once. I would have liked however to find out after the exam what I had wrong on the tests and final exam.”

Thanks for taking time to leave feedback Richard. We definitely offer in-person exams throughout the year. We understand the online course can take a while for some students, but the time requirements and quizzes are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure students of all reading levels are able to fully understand all content. We find most students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, in an open book format - with unlimited retries on the exam. Thanks for sticking with it and safe boating!

“Well it thought me a lot of new info about boat safety and rules. The one thing I would say that was not pleasant about the course was the time it took to take it. I am a person who will only be boating on freshwater lakes and not the ocean. So I would say it needs to be broke up into two categories with freshwater and salt water. Maybe that would have been a little more pleasant. It’s hard for us to set aside 5+ hours for a test like this.”

“I was reluctant to take this course, as I had already taken and passed the power squadron course several years ago. I also helped out at power squadron course as a proctor. In the end I relearned a few things that had forgotten. What I would have liked was to know the correct answer to the questions I had erred answering.”

“Hello I am Marine Chief Engineer on large ocean going container vessels. I pass the course for fun and for having license for enjoyment. Course is good but I like to mention some point of view: This kind of course should be a combination of theoretical and practical session not only theoretical. People try to pass course and they think they are boat operator and put themselves and others in trouble. I guess in some way people should try driving boat and then get certificate.
