“As an existing customer who has spent considerable amounts of money with Boots Hearingcare, I was extremely condescended to today. Whilst asking about new hearing aids in my annual review I was told by the audiologist that unless I was ‘made of money’, I would want to wait at least 4 years. At no point was I asked what I wanted / needed even though I was explaining that I was concerned to maximise my ability to hear, and was expressing an interest in new technology and new hearing aids.
I had to impress upon the audiologist that I have very bad hearing before she would even condescend to pull up my audiogram and look at it. She looked at me, saw a late middle-aged woman and assumed my hearing loss was due to ‘normal aging’ rather than appreciating it was something I have lived with for a very long time and am very knowledgeable about. She also made judgements about my (non) ability to pay for more hearing aids.
I spent £3000+ last year on hearing aids, and went to the bother of attending the annual appointment with the audiologist because this is something that matters a great deal to me - more than almost anything else in my life .
I had expected she would at least condescend to look at my audiogram and check that my very expensive hearing aids were doing an appropriate job in compensating for the deficiencies in my hearing profile. I was wrong.
At no point in the appointment did I get even a glimmer of an idea that she was interested in helping me understand my hearing loss and how well my hearing aids might be remedying it. As an audiologist I would have expected her to manifest some interest in my hearing loss and how it might be improved. I was wrong.
I also tried to provide feedback to her about the discriminatory practices of Boots Hearing Care in requiring hearing impaired people to make a phone call - which they may well not be able to do due to their hearing loss - if they need to change their hearing appointment - the audiologist basically said that was not her job to take an interest in that.”
“When you finally get the items into the basket and try to checkout the programme flicks between ‘iam’ and ‘shop’ .bootshearingcare but despite numerous attempts will not go through. If the parts were available in the stores we wouldn’t have to go through is frustrating process. Wasted a whole morning!!! Rubbish website.”
“My treatment at he branch was fine but every time you have to deal with central customer services the service is absolutely appalling, even by today's standards”
“EVERYTHING. I am 85years old, and have been wearing hearing aids for approx.
15years. I got so fed up with changing batteries on my NHS aids, that I decided to go to Boots in Fareham, as I had heard good reviews from other users. initial contact was good (July 2023) and decided to go ahead a but a pair of hearing
aids (Phonac).Initially all was fine, had a problem with the left aid, had the wire replaced.
Next problem was the yearly check up (4July 2024). It was understanding from the
Initial contact that this would be a hearing test, only to be told No. those were every two years. This is not what I was told when I bought the aids.
The left aid had to have a smaller dome fitted as the original one was too large.
The appointment 4/7/2024 was originally made for the 23/7/2024 by yourselves, only to have this cancelled and rescheduled to 3/5/2024, only to be cancelled again and remade fro 4/7/2024.
2/10/24 Had an appointment with a lady named Varsha for long awaited hearing test, but on inspection of my left ear, she thought I had an infection and referred
me to my doctor, so could not go further with the test. Told to make another appointment for 30minutes.
Made new appointment for 18/11/24 for said hearing test, which I have been informed by text today 13/11/24 has been cancelled yet again.
Phoned Boots only to be told next available appointment is end of December24.
This is not acceptable.Mm”
“Positive reviews are definitely fake.
I used to work for this company and it was RARE that people were happy with the company. Even overheard an audiologist belittling staff. Working for a competitor has made me realise what an utter shambles Boots HeaingCare is. Please don’t be fooled by the fact 5 star reviews. If you accidentally book the wrong appointment too, you will be turned away at the door.”
“Lied to me told me could programme my hear aids send out next day soon as I paid money sent me email with appointment month later got hearing aids next day didn't work £595 I can't afford to lose when phoned tried to give me appointment later than one on email terrible service praying on people with disabilities”
“When buying my £3.500 hearing aids I was told to call into the store anytime if I had a problem. This is not so, when one hearing aid failed to operate I visited the store only to be told I need an appointment. This has happened on several occassions just to have the tube changed. Now it's happened again and the next available appointment is 5 days away! I need 2 hearing aids working properly, if one is dead then I feel lopsided. Croydon Boots have been very helpful but they can't invent spaces for patients. The nearest other one is only part time, also was closed without notice for my appointment last January. Not impressed and would not recommend.”
“The only that made me feel happy was the practical side of testing and adjustment of hearing aids . The other side I felt degraded after I was asked why I had made a concern . So everyone who writes a review is asked why they put their experience down! This was the audiologist quoting I’m not a nasty person !! As a paying customer I was mystified by response of audiologist . Although she is very practical and knowledge is very good .i did feel slightly upset as a disabled person with a brain injury . I felt I was misunderstood and I’m more capable with a functioning cognitive range .”
“I had a free ear health check last month, at Boots
Monks cross in York. The female Audiologist said that both of my ear were clear of wax, which was a surprise, as I have hearing aids in both ears and it was around a year since my last ‘de-wax’.
My hearing was beginning to get worse, which I now was concerned that was an health issue, as I’m now seventy years old. Three weeks later I had another check at the Hearing clinic in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. I was informed the my right ear was totally blocked with wax and the left ear was partially blocked at around sixty percent. Both ear were then de-waxed and my hearing restored. It’s pointless Boots offering a ‘Free’ ear health check, if their staff then lie about the actual health of the ear, for whatever reason.”
“Spent a lot of money on hearing aids, every time I have an appointment they cancel the day before. Pay all this money for a service and a product that causes nothing but problems.”
“I went to Boot,s in Bracknell to get my hearing aid,s reset.Superb audioligist reset my hearing aids and set up phonak on my mobile phone .Lady name of Giselle.Best audioligist i,ve seen.”
““Boots “care”. Sell you very expensive aids, absolute waste of money had them 2 years had umpteen visits as 1 of the hearing aids has not worked as I thought it would asked today what should I do he was not helpful said I don’t know and said to contact boots hearing care
Totally bad experience. Very unhappy”
“Ive just received spent £2,800 on boots hearing aids came two weeks ago for impressions to be taken made my appointment for a fitting and in that two weeks I’ve had my appointment changed twice , I explained I need the appointment I booked because off my work. And now today I’ve just been informed that my appointment due on the 22nd has now been cancelled this is unacceptable I’m a customer paying a lot off money and this is the rubbish service you get”
“Boots claim to have an Aftercare Service. One of my hearing aids has stopped working and the earliest appointment available is 5 weeks away. This is simply unacceptable.”
“Went to Boots in Coventry today, as I had a problem with one of my hearing aids. A guy called Waqar, was most helpful. I didn't have an appointment so called in on the off chance. Waqar was more than happy to help by replacing a wire that had come loose. Cant thank him enough.”
“The Boots service is fine, it's the Phonak spares cost which is appalling. There are two routine items required to maintain good hearing quality. Not so necessary are the rubber grommets which must cost Phonak a fraction of a penny. More important are the filters but again the cost is tiny yet prices charged are frankly a rip off. Once having purchased the aids then you are held to ransom for these replacement parts. Boots should get these parts made themselves. I subsequently never recommend. Phonak”
“I had my first hearing test with Boots in Liverpool about five years ago and got a pair of phonax hearing aids. I have recently been back to the same store for another test and adjustment of my hearing aids. The service is excellent - so impressed with the care and responsiveness. Thank you.”
“Do not go. Today 3.30pm I had a wire poked into my ear. It was painful.
Fortunately I have had ear tests at UCH
and knew they should be undertaken with head phones. Mr. Shah started to perspire, he called his head office, explaining I had flinched and he was not going to continue
Once out of the cubicles a kind young lady at a make up counter sat me down and gave me water. I could not stop shaking. I learnt that despite being called Boots Hearing, this company has nothing to do with Boots, they rent space yet they have permission to trade using the Boots name
They are imposters if you value professionalism do not go near them”
“2 cancelled appointments at Boots hearing in Alton at very short notice in the same month, because of alleged sickness. Don't use boots go elsewhere, they don't care about customers once boots have your money.”
“Diabolical service utter shambles
Have been a boots customer for 25 years
Both glasses and aids spent thousands
appointments cancelled some times same day,
Romsey even lost my hearing aids!!!
Customer service diabolical
Todays date 9/5/23 I have just two appointments cancelled one believe it or not 5/2/25 over a year away
My advice to anyone go to spec savers”
