I went to one store and they used another auto recourse and there was no info on the car I was seeking to buy. The Car Fax showed all the data and even the service records. I trust The Car Fax!!! Linny

I found what appeared to be the perfect Corvette on Craigslist, I was ready to purchase it. At the last minute I decided to invest in a CARFAX. I found that it had been issued a salvage title due to flood damage and had also had significant rear end damage. CARFAX pointed out that the car had been cycled through several states enabling it to get rid of the salvage title. It may not be notated on the title that it was a salvage car, but CARFAX pointed it out to me! Thank you!!

Buying a car with 170,000 miles on the odometer is cause for caution, especially since I was buying one on the other side of the country (in California from Massachusetts). Fortunately, One of my colleagues was in San Diego on business and was able to take a look at it for me. However, he was not able to drive it, since the dealer did not have a dealer plate available at the time. This made me suspicious, so I ordered the CarFax report. It looked good there, so I took the leap and flew to San Diego to pick it up. Well, the dealer was not confidence-inspiring (filthy, cluttered premises, operating out of a house in a residential neighborhood), but the car was good. I drove it 300 miles to my son's house with no surprises. The CarFax was very worthwhile. Without it, I would have not had the confidence to go through with this. We now own the car that my wife had to pass up when it was new and bought a less expensive model. We will use it whenever we visit our son and to explore more of California in our retirement.

I was purchasing a first car for my seventeen old son, after looking at several different cars we finally saw one that he liked. We were all set to hand over cash to the seller when my son said "should we do a Carfax?"So before we made the purchase I was able to get the Carfax information right there on the spot from my phone. Unfortunately the information about the car was not positive and we ended up continuing the search. So glad I didn't buy that car. Ron

My daughter and I were shopping for her first car and knew we has to buy something older but reliable. When she saw the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, she fell in love with it, but we were worried about whether the car had flooded or been in an accident. The Carfax report showed that it was never in a major accident, no flood damage and actually provided some maintenance history that showed it was taken care of. My daughter now uses the car daily and we are glad we went to Carfax to help us make our decision.

I had not bought a car for over 5 years and wanted to save money so I was buying from an individual. I found the type of car I was looking for but it was over an hour away and before I drove over there I wanted to know as much as I could about the car. I bought the 5 carfax package and ran the VIN through. Good thing I did, the car had an odometer irregularity about 8 months ago - the mileage was reported 70,000 miles less than the last time it was in for service. Turns out the guy who was selling it had no idea, he worked at a garage and the owner was not able to pay the repair so he bought the car for very little hoping to make some quick cash. He should have used carfax!

my husband and i were looking at a dodge caravan...something about it was too good of a deal... when i ran the VIN numbers it had been in two accidents with heavy damage, and flood damage two times. the owner was proud of the fact it had 128000 miles and when i ran the report it had 140000 before he purchased it... was a bad deal

Car fax help me and my family when the price on a vehicle was too good to be true so I pulled the carfax and found out that the vehicle had more miles on it than the odometer Showed us. So the that helped us get a even better deal on the Vehicle. That was a blessing thanks carfax.

I live in Montana. Two years ago I bought a used car from a dealer here that could not provide a CarFax report. At the time of the purchase the dealer was not able find a report on the Internet, nor was I able to find one. Somehow it didn't exist. Since I purchased the car I have been able to find the CarFax report, perhaps by purchase triggered its availability?? What I discovered was the car had been in a debilitating front end collision, which was not disclosed to me. This was discovered after having two years of front end problems with this car. They replaced the transmission multiple times, the engine block as well. I have had numerous electrical issues and failures too. It has been in the shop more than I have been able to drive it. Of course, this would have been clear to me had there been a CarFax report at the time of purchase. Can someone explain to me how this is even possible?? Once a VIN number is established, how can a report go missing?? I’m really disappointed in CarFax for allowing this to happen.

I was so in love with a 2007 Toyota Corolla that was such a good deal, but CARFAX stopped me from buying it by showing me that there was a problem with the mileage inconsistency. I brought it to a mechanic and it deed it was a problem, not just a mistake in the records. I trusted CARFAX ever since, and once I saw a great car, (with the approval of CARFAX, of course), I bought it right away. I would definitely recommend CARFAX to anyone who's looking to buy a car.

I have bought several cars off of the Craigslist site, and using CARFAX has given me the comfort and assurance to know fully what the prior ownership history has been. It has saved me on more than one occasion of making a bad purchase when a seller has not been honest about known issues. Steve B.

CarFax report helped me sell by BMW M3 2011 at a great price, since I printed a copy of the report to the person that was interested in purchasing my car, and with this I got more $$ for it than what I was going to ask. It also helped me track the quality of the new purchased I did on the Nissan GTR 2012. Thanks CarFax! Jose Rivera

Hello my name is Mark Rochester, I have never used CARFAX in the past. I had seen the commercials but was skeptical. I have used several different on line companies in order to research but in most cases the information is old, outdated or incorrect. I am an American living in Guadalajara, México. I recently made a deal on a beach property with a partial trade of a 2008 Ford Logo Limited Edition and cash. I was very excited as it is one of only 5000 made. After driving the vehicle, I noticed a problem with the suspension. I was also concerned with the mileage as it was just over 20,000 miles which seemed low for a 2008 model. I also noticed some of the body lines were off and some different colors in paint. I asked the owner if it had ever been in an accident. He stated it had not. At that point I thought of running a CARFAX. I went to the website and paid and ran a report. I found the complete history of the vehicle. It had been a total loss vehicle at a little over 3000 miles. It also had a salvaged title and had been purchased and rebuilt. The mileage at the time of the second purchase was over 42000 miles. Most likely the vehicle had over 60,000 or many more. I found it was a common practice in México to take a salvaged vehicle from the United States and get a new title in México. They do not have Salvaged titles here. I decided not to complete the deal unless they paid me in just cash. The deal went through, but it could have been a complete costly disaster if it were not for CARFAX. It is nice to know I could be in a Foreign Country and be able to show the seller that I am intelligent in my purchases. It also helped in my negotiation for the land purchase as they knew that I was well informed. Thanks to CARFAX I was able to make the right decision. Thanks again for your help and the great service you provide. I was Gratefully Satisfied. I will use you again! Mark Rochester

We started looking for a car months ago for our daughter and "boy" have I looked at a lot of pre-owned cars! When I started checking the "Car Fax" cars that appeared to be what we were looking for, it eliminated a lot of vehicles we would not consider purchasing. I found a pre-owned car that looked just right - one of the colors we were looking for, mileage agreeable, within the years we were looking for & really close in price. Honestly, I figured there would be something wrong when I ran the car fax, but was so excited to read the Car-Fax, drive approx. 100 miles, test drive the car & FINALLY, we'd found our daughter's car! Thanks Car-Fax.

We recently purchased a 2001 Tundra Truck with 94k miles for $9500.00 from a private party in great looking condition and paid what we thought was a great price. Went to register it found out the mileage was incorrect so we went home and ran a CarFax on it. The CarFax report came back showing it really had 214k miles on it, with our CarFax report in hand we were able to return the truck and get our money back, but only because we had a CarFax report to prove the fraudulent! Thank you CarFax!
