We were looking hard for our son's first car. We were looking at old Toyota Corolla's no more than about 150,000 and of course older years. We were willing to spend about $2500 if it all checked out Seemed like all privately owned good deals went within hours. We would pull them up on autotrader or craigslist or cars.com. We finely got one off Craigslist, called for an appointment and we were the first ones to see it. The man said he had several staggered after that. It was like 1996 Toyota Corolla with about 150,000 for about $2500. It was already smogged. We went down, test drove the car, ran smooth seemed great and didn't have time to run a Carfax or deal with the price. We ALWAYS would run a Carfax! After the test drive 3 people showed up and my husband had to make a decision to buy it as the next people were ready to grab it. It was my son's first car and it seemed clean and ran well. A few weeks later he started mentioning some things were loose on the dash and the car was running rougher. After a month I happen to be driving it and realized it was running like garbage and the dashboard around the guages was loose. So my first instinct was to run the Carfax and sure enough the last mileage 8 months before the sale of this car was 200,000 miles. And after that it showed the smog test and our purchase with mileage reading 150,000 approximately and a note by CARFAX MILEAGE DOES NOT MATCH. I immediately called DMV. It was definately tampered with but I asked if could we go and get our money back and they said absolutely it was up to us. They would deal with the odometer tampering. We had it smogged and checked the box on the title that mileage did not match as they instructed. We went to his home and left a note on his door stating he tampered with the mileage and it was illegal and we wanted our cash back. Unfortunately he was American Colombian and out of the country and his poor wife was left to deal with this. She had no idea. So we were polite and she gave us the cash back and we gave them back the title with the box checked, mileage doesn't match. He told her on the phone for us to leave it blank. But of course we didn't so he is unable to sell it to another unsuspecting person without disclosing the correct mileage. And of course the DMV had him on odometer tampering. We have since bought my son a car and first thing we do is run a Carfax. We did run into other people lying about mileage and we confronted them with the carfax report. I have never bought another car without a Carfax! Sorry a bit long but it's a life saver! There are some pretty scummy people out there! Thanks CARFAX!

I was concerned about buying a used car that may have been involved in Hurricane Sandy flooding, CARFAX gave me the peace of mind to know I was making a good choice. Colorado is one of the few states that does not require sellers to specifically state whether a car may have had flood damage in a Salvage title. Looking at many used SUV's, I noticed on the CARFAX reports quite a few had gone to auction in the New York and New Jersey area in November 2012, right after Hurricane Sandy and were now being sold in the Denver area. I didn't want to take a chance on one of these so I found a 2008 Highlander that had never been in that area and never had a Salvage Title, as an added bonus I could see the vehicle had been taken care of by the Service records on CARFAX. Thanks CARFAX.

I had searched for a Borrego for the past year. These cars have been discontinued and I needed to ensure that vehicle considered for purchase had been service and there were no hidden incidents. The CARFAX that I ran gave me a complete history of this vehicle which I was able to confirm was completed and covered all aspects of any type of discovery that I would have otherwise not been able to determine. I purchased this vehicle based on CARFAX and have found that it was a very good decision that I could not have made without the CARFAX.

I was struggling with making a decision on purchasing a used Chevy 1500 extended cab do to mileage and year. I purchased CARFAX and ran the VIN. After review results I decided on making the purchase. CARFAX is a great tool to use when shopping for a new or used vehicle and I would suggest that everyone use it before every purchase especially if its a used vehicle. That way you can see exactly what has been done to it and have no surprises later on.

I had two cars seating in my garage, one a VW new bug that belonged to my daughter that left to college and the other one a second car for weekends a mercedes benz 380 SL 1984, after trying to sale them with the for sale sign, with nobody interested on them, I tried autotrade, and got a month of free carfax, well expended money because I sold both cars and got a couple of newer ones one a porsche cayanne for the family and a jeep that I was missing since I got married 20 or so years ago, I am very happy with both negociations, and car fax helped a lot in the proccess of knowing how good the cars are.

I'm a divorced mother of 2 who can't afford car payments. So when my beater car finally fell apart, I turned to a car-savvy friend to help me find a cheap used car. He immediately suggested I buy a Carfax subscription, so on his recommendation I did. Wow, was I ever glad I did! I was able to weed out lots of cars that looked good on the outside, but once run through Carfax, proved to be a bad choice for a woman living alone. After a weekend of searching, I found two cars that met my budget, had clean histories, and were in good mechanical shape. Couldn't have done that without Carfax! Now I have peace of mind, and the kids absolutely love the ride.

Carfax saved the year! I was going to purchase a used vehicle I found online that seemed to be a great deal. After getting the VIN number from the seller, it came to my attention that his story on the vehicle did not render itself to be entirely honest. Come to find out, the vehicle had been in a head on collision. He was not the second owner like he stated. The vehicle was not even in his name! He was in fact flipping the vehicle for a profit without a license to avoid paying taxes. Thank you carfax for helping me avoid a costly mistake!

I was looking to buy my teenage daughter a small compact vehicle and wanted it to be reliable and dependable. I found a vehicle on a auto website and of course had to do a Carfax report first. My husband and I met with the owner(private sale) and had our Carfax report with us just to see if he was honest and would tell about a fender bender in 2007 ,the guy was honest enough to mention this, long story short we purchased the car after test driving it etc. Now my daughter is ready to drive it to college after graduation. Thanks Carfax!

We were looking for a used first car for our daughter. We found a great looking, reportedly clean and clear Toyota Corolla from a private party that we were ready to purchase. We decided to record the VIN and run a CarFax: The car had been in an accident requiring towing and major repairs! You saved us from many possible future problems. Thank you CarFax!

I had been using public transportation for the past 3 years in order to save enough to buy a vehicle. I originally had my mind set on a used PT Cruiser. The owner seemed nice enough and the vehicle looked and seemed to run good. I decided to splurge and get the CARFAX for the vehicle and was able to determine that in a period of 5 years there had been 6 separate owners, none of them keeping the car longer than a year; and the vehicle was originally a rental vehicle. That made my decision easy and I decided not to but the car. I finally found a KIA Amanti in the right price range and again bought the CARFAX. The couple selling the car were the original owners and they had maintained the car regularly and kept it in amazing shape! I bought the car last week and am in love with it! And I have the confidence of CARFAX report and the CARFAX Guarantee on my side!! Thank you for "steering me" in the right direction to my new car!

My daughter had her first job, had saved her money, and was ready to buy her first car. As her dad I wanted to be sure that she spent her money wisely, so I signed up for one month of CARFAX. It was a HUGE help! Kate decided she wanted a compact SUV, and we found a Jeep Liberty that she liked. We checked the CARFAX and found out that it had been taken to a repair shop twice in the last three months to have the front suspension looked at, but that no repairs were done. A few days later we heard that it needed major repair work. Thank you CARFAX! So Kate kept looking and I kept running CARFAX reports. All we needed was the license plate number, and almost every car ad shows either the front or the back bumper well enough to read the plate. Then we found two different Honda CR-V's on two different used car lots. They were the same year, had almost exactly the same mileage, and about the same price. They were essentially identical. We ran a CARFAX on both cars. One report showed regular service at a dealership with all scheduled maintenance performed on time and no major repairs. The other had almost no information so we didn't know if it had been properly cared for. Guess which car she bought? After this experience we will never buy a used car without a good CARFAX report!

Our granddaughter, Sierra, wanted a good, reliable used car for Graduation from High School. So I signed up for the $59 unlimited CARFAX program. After checking many, many cars types via CARFAX and checking car reliability (MSN on the internet) we found a great car. Based on CARFAX car pricing section associated with KBB I offered them them the recommended CAFAX price ($500 less then they wanted) and they took it. The $59 unlimited for one month CARFAX is the BEST DEAL around.

I went to buy a car...the owner swore up and down he was the only owner and it was never in an accident or had any problems... I was able to find out that it was unlicenced for 4 years and that it had 6 owners before him.. I also found out it wasnt originally a turbo porsche which meant the engine was worked on.. Thanks car fax!!!!!

Our company was looking at purchasing a Dodge Sprinter from a private party that was very competitively priced. We would have purchased it, if not for obtaining a CARFAX report. The money spent on the CARFAX was pennies compared to the headaches we would very well suffer if we had made the purchase. CARFAX showed where the Sprinter was actually a total loss, not once, but twice. The first was from an accident within the first year of it's original purchase. The second was water damage received five years later. Thank you CARFAX for keeping us from making a huge mistake.

Carfax helped me sell my car very quickly! Unfortunately my father passed away last month. His pickup truck was left to me, which meant I no longer needed my Park Avenue. It was a 1994 with 144,000 miles. The car was in teriffic shape for its age, but I was expecting a month or two before it sold. I only had the car for 10 months, but never saw a report on it when I purchased it. So I went ahead and ran one in advance of the sale. I discovered I was only its third owner. The report indicated that the value was increased by $450.00 beacuse of its clean history. So just last week I ran a website ad to sell the car. Only 9 hours after the ad posted, I got a call from a prospective buyer. He came right away to look at the car, but didn't give any indication whether he was excited about it or not. He didn't say much even after driving it. But then I showed him the Carfax report i printed. He read through it, put it in the glove box, and simply asked me if I will accept cash today for the car. I accepted what I was asking for the car. It is clear that the Carfax report sealed the deal. best of all, the cash from the sale of the car was used to defray some of my personal expenses in dealing with my father's estate matters, and this has brought some added peace of mind. Needless to say I'm very happy with the Carfax service.

Looking at several, late model VW Jettas in my area I spied one online at an independent dealer's lot in ___, TX. A link to CARFAX was provided but it was not paid for by the dealer. I made an appointment and met a salesman on their lot who'd formerly worked for Mitsubishi. We took the Jetta out for a spin. The car looked sharp but when driven made strange noises from underneath. Back in the dealers office we pulled the CARFAX and, lo-and-behold, the car had suffered serious damage and a title change. Oh well, at least the test drive showed I could live with a Jetta. Next stop was a "real" VW dealer with a Jetta coming in off lease return. To my surprise, the dealer also relied on CARFAX to accurately describe a vehicle in their inventory! The car was a good one and the price was OK so a deal was struck. The short if it is I'll never buy another car without a CARFAX - you shouldn't either.

I have purchased carfax a couple times already. Every time I looked up a car there was something I found wrong with the vehicle that the current owner did not mention or lied about. I am grateful to be able to use carfax because it has saved me from purchasing the wrong vehicle.

I was looking for a specific car that had not been produced since 2004, (chevy Tracker) . Having bought one site unseen, I didn"t want to do that again (ebay), since these cars are not plentiful i bought the yearly pass to car fax. Being mostly concerned with mileage, condition, service records, accidents ,etc. Car fax was the answer.Living in Florida you must concern yourself with salt corrosion and severe rust. Many cars were eliminated because your car fax told me where the car had been delivered to new and where it had been till the present date.I found the car I was looking for, with no accidents, complete service records and never been on the coastline. I will continue to use car fax, with any future purchases.

I have used CarFax for years when I purchased high end cars for personal use. It's always a must regardless of how nice a car is. Cars unfortunately are emotional buys as we all know so well. In today's market it's imperative that one option is buying used ( usually high mileage) vehicles for kids or third transportation. We had just returned from Hawaii and awaiting shipping our two vehicles which takes 30-45 days. Buying a third vehicle, a truck, was a great option. Used trucks are run hard and usually have many miles. Although it was an extensive search it paid off finding this Nissan Titan with 138,000 miles. There were other vehicles cheaper yet they had no service records or the didn't have a clean "CarFax". This truck had extensive schedule maintenance reports at dealership and was kept up and clean across the board. This information proved to be a great asset in my purchase because at 168,000 in 13 months later this truck has been a gem. I just went to sell it and because of the "CarFax" I was able to get top dollar at high end of the value range which proved to be more than I paid. I owe that all to CarFax because that's what showed the value of my vehicle to the buyer. Two months later and the buyer called to tell me what a great truck it's been and it was nice to purchase from an honest seller. I said I appreciate the kind words but it was all documented so that was the easy part! Thank you for your valued service.
