“I made arrangements with a seller of a used 2005 toyota matrix with 115k miles to meet at a church's parking lot on a saturday morning. I repeatedly asked the seller if he could tell me the license plate number number to the car he's selling but was ignored. I arrived at the appointed spot before the seller and when he pulled up in the matrix i immediately ran the plates on my phone using carfax and to my surprise and utter disgust this car had 240k on it. Yes this was definitely fraud about to take place especially with me having the cash on hand. I confronted the seller on the mileage discrepancy and he played it as him selling the car for his son acting like he was on the phone with him then he promptly left the parking lot after i took pics of his license plates front and back. Thank you carfax for saving my money from the crooks out they in craigslist land. I eventually found the perfect car with acceptable mileage lol. Cheers, Patrick”

“As I was just about to pull the trigger on trading my current vehicle at a reputable dealership I had prior experience with, I decided to do a last minute Carfax report on the new one. (The deal seemed a little too good to be true but I was chalking it up to having bought other cars from this dealer). They told me it was a one owner vehicle. What they didn't tell me is the car was owned by a car rental place!!! I would recommend doing a Carfax on any vehicle regardless of the circumstances. You never know!! Thanks Carfax!!”

“My teenage son and I looked at a number of cars, we were looking for a very inexpensive car knowing it would probably be 10+ years old with high miles, we found several that looked great with less miles than we thought we would have to settle for, when we checked car fax we found service records where the miles were much higher than showed on the odometer, of course the sellers claimed ignorance. We are glad we checked car fax and will never buy any used car without checking car fax, thanks”

“I was skeptical in the beginning whether to pay money for getting the Car Fax. But decided to go for it. And it amazed me. I can see all the servicing details and accident history. “Iam very happy with Car fax because I checked lots of vehicles before my purchase . I actually had to purchase the 5 vin number checker 2 times until I finally found my 2000 BMW x5 truck in the perfect condition according to car fax so I thank car fax very much . “I was looking at purchasing a Buick from an owner and they told me it had never been in a wreck and only had a scrape on the side from someone in another car. The CarFax was run on it before I purchased it and indicated that not only did it have multiple owners and two auction releases, but that it was also involved in a side collision and totaled. After inspection of the car again with this information, the undercarriage did show that it had been bent and straightened out at some point with a lot of rusting in areas where the impact would have been. Not only did this save me from buying a car with a high price for the condition, it also prevented me from buying a car that could have been a serious safety concern for my family!”

“I bought an 11 year old car that had a salvage title. It wasn't being looked at, I suppose, because of the salvage title. But after receiving the Car Fax report on the car, it showed that the car had been repaired 8 years ago and driven almost 40,000 miles since it was rebuilt. Those details on the report gave me the confidence that the car was completely road-worthy.”

“I found the most attractive preowned Ford Focus a few months ago at a local dealership. I got the CarFax report on it, and I was most pleased with the results. Now, I enjoy driving around in most security of its excellent performance as an awesome ride, as good as riding in Arcee of Generation One Transformers. “With help of Carfax, I bought a 2008 Mercury Sable with very low mileage. The Carfax report indicates that the car was under regular maintenance and it was a first-owner one. Now I have been driving it for months with lots of fun and comfort. It is a nice car.”

“My report was very detailed and current. Ii was able to follow the entire life of the car I purchased. I it's service records, ownership lineage, and if there were any title issues (there were none.) It even showed my recent visits since my purchase. I would recommend unlimited VIN searches since my prospective cars didn't have license plates. I also thought the price was high but other sites didn't give as much info so that could be expected. Hope for a better VIN search package.”
